I haven't played in a while, so why not. I'll sign up as Mint because I'm too lazy to think of a name.

As much as I'd like to play this game, I have to back out. I have too much I need to do before the end of this year, and before the end of November particularly.

I really don't think Jon's suspicions of you indicate that he's an elim. I was getting a slight elim read on you too. Whether Jon's right or not is another matter, but I don't think his vote on you is suspicious at all. I know you've already removed your vote and I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I wanted to bring this up in case inactivity comes up again later in the game. I'd say that inactivity is NAI for new players. I really don't want to kill Straw for the reasons you mention. And to be honest, I kind of want to see how keeping him alive plays out for once. I understand the worry with his playstyle but there probably is some rhyme and rhythm to it, if observed for long enough and well enough. Also killing a player for their playstyle kind of rubs me the wrong way, and it seems to happen all the time with Straw. I'm currently going through the older cycles to evaluate and re-evaluate my suspicions and will hopefully have something more substantial by tomorrow.

Steeldancer and Flash are the same person? I did not know that.

So the Seer killed Steeldancer due to something about Steeldancer's playstyle. Because the Seer knows Steeldancer's playstyle, they must know mine, therefore, they must be interested in me. There are a few issues with that logic. 1) Regardless of whether we started at the same time, I don't believe that Steeldancer and I played many games together. Even if I'm wrong about that, the fact that I don't remember much should speak for itself because it means one or both of us weren't very active in a game, so there wasn't really much to be learned about our playstyles. You could argue that someone who's very active in SE games could have played most of the games that both I and Steeldancer are in, but if that's the case, wouldn't they know a lot of players' playstyles very well? And even if Steeldancer and I played the same games together, I'm not sure how anyone would get to know our playstyles particularly well compared to anyone else's. There are much more prominent players. 2) Why would the Seer being familiar with my playstyle motivate them to convert me? Why would them being familiar with Steeldancer's playstyle motivate them to kill him? Being familiar with a playstyle isn't the same as being interested by it. 3) I'm not going to argue against the initial premise of the Seer's reasons for killing Steeldancer, but I do disagree with it. I personally think that the elims killed off a more quiet player to keep us from inferring anything from their kill.

I feel like only a handful of very experienced players would draw that much attention to themselves D1. I can see Aman doing that. But if the Seer is a player isn't that experienced or known for being vocal, I'm inclined to think that they were active without taking strong action. I'm suspicious of Joe for publicly offering to trade information. He mentions the flaws in Aman's plan but then agrees with it. And he never provides reasoning for why he thinks it's a good idea, even when he's voted on. Shqeeves and Striker also made the same offer as Aman, but my gut says they're village. The only other thing that stood out to me was that Orlok and El both advocated for the lynch but never voted. Orlok's last post on D1 mentions that the threat of the lynch in general was more valuable than picking out an individual at the time. El said that she was okay with either of the lynch candidates towards the end of the turn so there was no incentive for her to vote. Fair reasons, but still, the lack of action feels off to me. I'm going to keep an eye on them for now.

I voted for Aman because I realized that his plan didn't make much sense. Looking at who's willing to take the risk of reaching out to him is helpful. But in terms of learning more about the Seer's approach to the game via his death on D3, is there really any circumstance where the Seer wouldn't convert him despite his inevitable death? There are cases where the best strategy isn't so clear cut, but this didn't seem to be one of them. Basically, Aman's conversion was inevitable and his death wouldn't tell us anything about the Seer's approach moving forward. By lynching Aman, we've prevented the Seer from gaining information. Two points on pushing for the lynch. First, I stand by what I said on the lynch giving us information we can use in the long run. Lynches, D1 or not, promote a lot of discussion. The amount of discussion we had wouldn't have happened without the genuine threat of a lynch. You wouldn't even be voting for me if no one was willing to lynch a player on D1 (I think you've come to the wrong conclusion given the evidence but that's another issue ). I didn't think we were going to hit the Seer. I didn't want to hit the Seer because that would have been a boring game (not true as of my first post but something I felt later on). If we waited until some players were converted, we would have more of a chance on killing an elim, but the elims would have time to plan and discuss while we would be as blind as we were at the start of the game. Second, if the Seer wanted a lynch, I wouldn't think they'd push too hard for one. It would draw a lot of attention to them. Which I wouldn't think they would do, especially D1. It draws more attention then they'd probably want. Of course, that would also depend on the specific player. But I really don't think my promotion of the lynch makes me suspicious. Maybe if it was a more vocal and experienced player, but I don't see how this reasoning works with me.

Gah. I'll switch my vote to Aman for now. Striker. I'll try to get on before the turn ends tomorrow, but I don't know if I'll be able to. Any reason you're going for Joe and not one of the others?

In terms of lynch candidates, I'm leaning towards Striker or Shqeeves. It's easy for a Seer to offer role swapping after someone else has proposed it. It's a great way to gather information while not bringing too much attention to yourself since you're just picking up on another person's idea. Shqeeves has shown a stronger anti-lynch stance. In contrast, Striker seems to be laying low, so that's where my vote will go for now. Those of you who wanted to use the turn to gather intel so you could make a more informed lynch later, how successful have you been? It's highly unlikely that I'll be convinced to support no lynch this cycle, but I may change my mind depending on your answers.

Coinshots, Rioters, and Soothers are most likely to be targeted for conversion, so I suggest that these roles be particularly careful in protecting their identities. This applies to Seekers as well by virtue of their ability to hunt down the former three. If you take the Thugs into account, the chances are lower than 96%. Even then, your point about probably hitting a villager still stands, but I disagree that this means we shouldn't lynch anyone. The only reason that the likelihood of hitting a villager would go down is if the elim team starts growing, and why give the elims that edge? At the end of the day, we want a high village:elim ratio. If we don't kill anyone, that ratio is guaranteed to go down. If we do, it's likely to go down, but not guaranteed, and we'll get information that we can use long-term. @Wyrmhero Do the elims have a doc?

If it's just a minor suspicion, then it's not worth voting on me considering that I offer a means through which information can be shared in this game. Obviously I say this partly for self-preservation, but it's also a horrible move gameplay-wise. Unless you're part of a faction who has a lot of capability in terms of figuring out who's who. Are you guys really going to kill the only person who has come out with the ability to PM people? In the interests of not dying, I'll also share my win con. It's for me and another player to survive until the end of the game. ... And there's only 20 minutes left until the end of the cycle. Sorry my lover, looks like we lost. Before I go, if you guys are looking for a common target, the thieves seem to be the best choice.

The idea of Crimsn being killed by the Cabal was brought up by Eternum's earlier post. Which made sense to me, because the bit about water super-heating in the write up sounds like there were some Epic abilities involved. Thinking more about it though... If the Cabal is protecting Balelight and/or Balelight's followers, which would make sense given that both Reckoners and Malcontents may have reason to want them dead, and Crimsn was Balelight's daughter, it's more like that an Epic Malcontent killed her. Possibly an Epic Reckoner if the GMs are going for something a bit more nontraditional. I kind of doubt that there are Reckoners who are Epics though. This game is hard enough to piece together as it is without curveballs. Then again... Not sure if that would stop the GMs from throwing cureveballs. I'm going to throw Alv's question back at @Eternum and ask why they assumed that the Cabal killed Crimsn.

PAFO? I've been thinking about this, but I don't have much to say on it. I'm guessing that the person who killed Crimsn had an ability or an item that allowed them to obscure her role on death. Since she already role-claimed, the ability/item is either passive or the killer just had no other useful actions for last cycle. Or perhaps someone else in the Cabal obscured her role, and they didn't have any better action last cycle. But I'm leaning towards the passive ability angle.

I suspect that no one's really been voting for the lynch, because a lot of players are neutral and don't need anyone else dead, and the others don't want to out themselves by openly trying to kill someone. I personally don't want to make the wrong enemies which is why I'm also hesitant about choosing someone to vote on. We really need information. I have the ability to create PMs, so if anyone is interested in sharing information, please let me know. And do so if you are ready to give out information, not just if you want a PM. I can't make an infinite amount. This offer includes just exchanging some info. with me and also if you'd like me to share something with the thread. I'll probably also PM some people who haven't asked for a PM, because I don't want everyone to know who I'm PMing. For the record, I am neutral and not trying to kill anyone yet.

Holy cow. I know I haven't been around considering how fast time flies in an SE game but that's way more RP then I was expecting. Don't have anything to add, just posting to say that I'm here and will post something more substantive tomorrow.

I'd agree with this reasoning in a normal game. But the first cycle lynch debate has less value now, because we don't have much to debate about. A dead player's role and alignment has more value since we have so little information regarding role and alignment. And I've just realized that I made the assumption that roles are revealed on death. @Seonid are they? I don't like these single votes. It makes it very easy to swing the lynch via vote manipulation. Cranium put his shooter down and took heavy breaths once he got to the hospital, or at least what remained of it. People were still running from the rubble. Once he caught his breath, he followed the echoes of righteous debate sprinkled with witty banter. It didn't take long to find the Epic. There was only one problem. Cranium had no idea which one of these three was the Epic. There was only one thing left to do in this situation. Cranium open-fired on all of them. Hope y'all don't mind some chaos. Feel free to take things wherever you like, I don't know when I'll be able to RP again, though I'll try tomorrow.

Soo we have to lynch someone or a random person will die. This is kind of an issue considering there's been minimal analysis or gameplay talk, because this is a blackout game and we know nothing. Majority of posts has been RP which has been great but not helpful in figuring out who to kill. Not counting the fact that there are a few characters who I want to stay alive because they're very entertaining. Does anyone have ideas on where to start? If we don't lynch someone, we'll still end up with information later since someone will die anyways. Of course, we'll get more information if we end up debating about lynch candidates among ourselves. Though I'm having trouble in seeing how that's an option unless we want to randomly select a few lynch candidates and see who votes who. But it would be awful for the people who are randomly selected so I don't think it's a good idea. I'd rather let luck decide than kill someone with no reasoning.

Some are and some aren't. I have both kinds. Cranium woke up to the smell of something burning. He sat up and turned on the headlamp tied to his forehead. Everything in the lab was where he had left it. Chemicals in various containers, gears (circular or otherwise), petri dishes containing specimen which may or may not start a plague, a test tube boiling over in the corner with a Bunsen burner under it that he forgot to turn off... Cranium stumbled over to the flame. Just as he tripped on a screwdriver, the test tube exploded. This wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't lead to twelve other explosions around the lab. Cranium coughed and waved his hand in a feeble attempt to remove the smoke. Looked like he needed to build a new lab. Oh well. Just one of the many trials in the life of a genius. Calamity had granted him the great power of the mind. So what if the humans said things like "your inventions don't work" (that's what test runs are for), "you're not actually an Epic" (what do mortals understand about that), and "you accidentally set your house on fire" (he was planning on moving anyways). One day Mirialis would see what a true Epic really looks like- once he got his Quantum Shooter working. Cranium's thoughts were interrupted by screaming from outside. "An Epic has attacked the hospital!" Another Epic? In his territory? Now's as good a time for a test run as any, Cranium figured. He picked up his Quantum Shooter, which took a good five minutes considering its weight and size, and headed towards the hospital.

Speaking of role PM's, how do PM's work in blackout games? Are they allowed? Is it a PAFO thing? Should I just try to PM someone and see what happens?
