  1. Gallen noticed the excess speed, and used it, keeping an eye out for the girl. He really was worried about her. @Merlin
  2. His real target was the farm girl Lisse. He hoped she was okay. @Ookla the very snazzy @Merlin
  3. He nodded. "Good. Lynn, on your horse or stay behind. Either way, we'll meet you in Bree. Let's go." He flicked the reins and called out in elvish as he kicked into his horses sides. It was pronounced awkwardly, but still clearly meant 'with haste'. He needed a lot of practice before he'd speak elvish fluently.
  4. He nodded. "He will. Get on, and let us ride. Fine day to meet a friend." He waited, looking at the road where she'd gone.
  5. He looked around. "Wonderful. I'm Gallen. Now we all know each other. Now, there is a fangirl that is completely helpless since someone thought it best to abandon her for what seemed like a suicide mission. Great plan, miss, but now there is a helpless, innocent, teenage girl on the road without anyone to keep her from bandits. How looking fo you expect her to stay alive? Or, in the best of cases, pure? I won't beg your forgiveness, I don't really care to excuse my rudeness. I'd rather save the maiden, so farewell. I pray I find her before we reach Bree." He turned, sheathing his sword and saving the cleaning for later. Bad, yes, but he was in a hurry. He leapt onto his horse, looking at them. "Will you accompany me, or do I ride alone?" He waited, though he wouldn't wait long.
  6. He looked the elf over. "Maybe to you, but you have been alive a long time. Magic fades from the world, and wonders are no longer what they once could be. I'm afraid you come from a time long past, when greater things than men walked the earth. Most of your kinsmen have gone to the undying lands. Why haven't you?" Even he knew that much.
  7. He nodded. "And such ancient language speaks to an ancient soul... how long have you walked these lands, elf? And how came you to join in our battle?" He felt like he was speaking with a lord...
  8. Gallen stopped where he was, boaste held high as he watched the newcomer. "What it's an elf doing here in these lands? Magic like hasn't been seen in an age... so you must be old. The only question is, are you mad?" He'd met an insane elf once. It had been caused by some plague far to the north and east. He was lucky not to have gotten infected... though he might be a carrier. He doubted it, after all this time...
  9. Gallen continued the slaughter, not understanding how the weird music had suddenly appeared, or really caring. He just fought desperately to stay alive and end the lives of the enemies around them.
  10. Gallen didn't waste the breath cursing Lynn, but his anger was clear in the sudden ease and skill with which he wielded his blades. He'd needed them both to leave so Lynn could protect the defenseless farm girl while they traveled on the open, easily stacked road. But no, of course- no one but himself could think straight... he'd have words with her about being a hero later... hopefully Lisse survived.
  11. He glared, suddenly off of his horse. "You two- I'll meet you in Bree or Tharbad. Two weeks at most. Ride now, I can hold them off and escape if I have too- you won't be as lucky. Go, now, and train The farm girl in some blasted decent weaponry." He pulled out his sword and knife, holding both and ignoring the girls as he went on what was likely a suicide mission. except, he had meant it. He could take down plenty of them, and his leather armor was enough that his only real opponents would be the orcs and mixed breeds. That was two thirds of the number, but gave him decent chances of surviving. Especially with that peculiar style, making him look like a meat grinder more than a man. Still, he would live long enough to actually buy them some decent time, if they ran. And they might capture him instead of killing him. @Ookla the very snazzy @Merlin
  12. Shae smiled again, nodding and hugging Dan back, though he kept walking. "Alright... thank you."
  13. Shae smiled, honestly happy this time. "Yeah... thank you. Come on, let's go find him..." He took Dan's hand, beginning to head back for Erlend's office.
  14. Shae nodded, managing a small smile before hugging Dan. "Thank you... I don't think I could talk about it twice... I have to tell Erlend, though... please don't leave me..." He clung to Dan, fingers gripping him tightly.
  15. The woman looked up at her, sighing. "I would check his office. If he's not there, I'd look at the rose gardens. He's usually there. Otherwise, ask around. I'm certain you can find someone to help you. Now, if you need any help, please don't hesitate to all. And please, come back in a few weeks. I'm sure I'll have this done by then... and, if you bring the right materials, maybe I can start making one for you. I can't provide the gem, but... I hope it'll be some help. I have a better idea on how these work now, so... it won't take me nearly as long." Shae stopped Dan before they left the grounds, looking back at the building. "Dan... could we go see Erlend? Please?" He looked up at the Winged dog-man, pleading. He needed to tell someone about this, and he didn't want to tell it twice. @Ookla the Ninja
  16. Why have I only just now found this place?
  17. Gallen rode up next to Lynn, watching the house silently. "The fancy guy ran off. It's just you, me, and the idealistic farm girl now." He looked over the hut. "Something is wrong... check the trees and see if anyone is hiding behind them. I'll check the house." He turned to look at Lisse. "And you... you can shoot a bow, right? And use a knife?" he kept his calm, mostly emotionless gaze on her. Honestly, she reminded him of his sister, and he felt irrationally fond of the farm girl. He just... had trouble showing it. Him asking after her ability to fight, offering to train her, being aware of her, even when she wasn't actively in the conversation yet, were all ways he showed he was thinking about her well-being and looking after her. Even so, he refused to coddle her. Reality was a hard lesson- and learning it quickly was necessary if you wanted to survive.
  18. watch This is a fantastic rendition of the Turkish march.
  19. She shook her head. "Lucky aid from another great guild or two. If it hadn't been for Shae's forgery, our losses and repair bill would've been much, much higher. I'd offer to show you, but I'm not sure anyone other than the head priest knows where the stamp is kept. You could ask Erlend, I suppose. Or you could talk to Shae, if... if he ever comes back. He might be able to make you some forgery stamps, if you needed any. If he were back, I might've finished this blasted thing already..." She grumbled. "By the sisters... is there anything else you need? I'll do my best to help. It's our hope to become a charity once we've become stable enough. The attack... it set us back a fair bit." She grimaced, unhappy with that. She hasn't signed up to spend months repairing arcane equipment- she'd signed up to teach. It was... highly frustrating...
