Probably not. In the Cosmere, dragons will probably look like the classical fantasy dragon, as that it what Brandon has professed to have inspired him to write for a long time. As such, they wouldn't look like the strange crustacean analogues that Roshar has. Generally speaking, it would be hard for any off-world animal to replace the fauna of Roshar, due to how drastically different they look, with the carapace.

To be completely fair, at the time when Nightblood was made, it was likely pre-Catacendre. That doesn't really change the fact that that amount of atium would've still been near-impossible to obtain as most produced was sent to the Trustwarren with only beads sold to the nobles.

Yes, because I think it's more likely that he didn't understand the mechanics behind a highly theoretical branch of a lightly research science, than Shashara swapped the metals on him without telling him, something which doesn't even match her personality, according to Vasher. Also I did some more digging and found something in the Warbreaker annotations. I would think that if it had reached this point, where Shashara was going to give away the knowledge on how to create them so they could be used in the war, that she would've told him everything that she knew about the process, which would've involved the fact that it was made out of steel, as Vasher currently believes. As an addendum too: The metal wasn't originally black.

End-X nomenclature is just that, nomenclature, based on people's observations on how manifestations of investitures work, in an effort to create patterns. It isn't actually a defining mechanic of systems. Also, we still know so little about awakening, it's hard to say. For instance, it appears that awakening can be used to modify people's memories, which also doesn't fit the basic understanding we've been shown in Warbreaker. None of this circumvents the fact that Vasher, who was involved in the creation of Nightblood, states that it was made from steel.

He and the other Scholars were the closest Nalthis had to experts on awakening. Nonetheless, what they were attempting with Nightblood was to create a prototype of a theoretical idea, of a purely theoretical branch of an incompletely understood science. Generally, things will go wrong in that case. When they do, you usually blame a misunderstanding of the mechanics behind it, not the base materials, which can be easily quality controlled. By the sounds of it, Vasher was very involved in the process of creating Nightblood, though Shashara was the one who performed the actual awakening. While he may believe that what they had devised wouldn't have worked, he likely still doesn't know what specifically Shashara visualized when she said the command. Lifeless are sentient. They possess the awareness to understand, interpret, and execute commands without visualization. Even basic awakened objects can be granted a startlingly high amount of awareness, such as what Vasher has created in Warbreaker, dolls capable of finding keys in other rooms and locating hidden tunnels.

Maybe he didn't understand why it worked how it did, but that doesn't mean he doesnt know what base components went into it. I see no reason to doubt his words.

[OB] Are wax and wayne in oathbringer?
Spoolofwhool replied to HoidvsVoid's topic in Stormlight Archive
With those in mind, it's impossible for them to be Wax and Wayne, as at the time of the flashback, they would be teenagers or younger. Edit: Storming shinja R'Shara -
[OB] Are wax and wayne in oathbringer?
Spoolofwhool replied to HoidvsVoid's topic in Stormlight Archive
Brandon has repeatedly said that Mistborn Era 2 takes place some time after SA 5, though whether there are more SA books between as well, he is unsure of. -
He was talking about Nightblood at that point. Here's a bit more context where he specifically says so. Either way, not understanding how or why the procedure worked doesn't mean that you don't know what material was used. Spoilered the quote for size. Sprenblades are so invested already, it's unlikely they could be awoken to anywhere near the same level. Either way, they are already sapient, so there is no reason that the awakening of Nightblood would've made it sapient.

Vasher, in an internal monologue, said that Nightblood was made by awakening steel. I doubt he would've mistaken them.

Szeth, the Stone Shamans, and Taln's Honorblade

Well thought out. -
Hoid is called "Bearer of the First Gem" which kind of implies that he still has it. As such, I think that he does have this supposed First Gem still, and that it wasn't used. Also, I think the original vessels Ascended in the same way that Sazed did, by touching the form of the shard where it lingered on the ground. As an aside, it would be helpful if you added a conclusion to your theory instead of just presenting a list of thought.

[OB] Ambition - the most dangerous shard
Spoolofwhool replied to Krios's topic in Cosmere Discussion
No, the essay just said that Ambition was wounded near Threnody and ultimately died later. Regardless, the timeline has been stated that he went to Sel first, then found Ambition and splintered her. Keep in mind that we don't actually know whether Ambition successfully fled from Odium, only that the splintering was elsewhere. -
Assuming he's even talking about the shard. It's a pretty open-ended line.

Future sight and Fortune are separate.

Lashing objects around him probably just doesn't occur to him as it doesn't suit his fighting style. Lashing people is identical to lashing inanimate objects so there's no reason why he couldn't do that.

[OB] Where are the Willshapers? (Spoilers)
Spoolofwhool replied to Ataraxian Wist's topic in Stormlight Archive
Timbre is described as a "comet" which flies around, by both Eshonai and Venli. She both looks and moves completely differently than Pattern, the only Cryptic we've seen. -
Here you go.

A large part of his pacifism is that he's balancing the intents of the shards and their respective investiture, as they are somewhat unstable when mixed together. As has been stated above, if someone else takes it and is unable to achieve that balance, the effects would likely be quite destructive, on a far greater scale than when a small piece of ettmetal explodes. Even someone with a more violent nature, while they could act more proactively against a threat, would eventually either be caught between both shards, or be destroyed by the warring powers. The latter would likely have resounding effects on Scadrial due to the close-knit connection between the world and the powers which assembled it. Overall, I think it's unlikely that Sazed will die and another will take up Harmony.

theory [OB] What Could the Moons Story Really Mean?
Spoolofwhool replied to Wit Beyond Measure's topic in Stormlight Archive
Crazy, not to mention that we don't have any precedence for localized physical spacial distortions in the Cosmere. The closest we have is in The Emperor's Soul -
Nahel bonded spren likely exhibit sapience in the physical realm because of their connection to the KR, which allows them to draw their awareness more fully into that realm. Odium has likely done something similar for Ulim and other spren, by somehow binding them to something in the Physical Realm.

That's likely incorrect, as it contradicts both the WoB that investiture-matter-energy can't be destroyed, as well as Brandon saying that the investiture Nightblood consumes remains in the system. I'll pull up the latter one when I have the opportunity to.

[OB] Betrayal of the Radiants
Spoolofwhool replied to PrincessMorpheus's topic in Cosmere Discussion
In the Feverstone Keep vision, the shards of the Radiants were still glowing until they dropped them, which seems to indicate that they (the spren) were still alive up until that very point when the glow faded.- 5 replies
