game Would You Rather? -a Game
goody153 replied to The Tenth Pancake's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
6th Heightening. Immortality baby. If you were to become a superhero. Would you rather be a mistborn or feruchemist for it ? (yes if you are either the metals are a given) -

Not. I'd rather work on what i wished than receive a bane that will probably make what i wished pointless. Would you rather live in earth where cosmere powers suddenly became a thing or live in earth where earth is relocated in cosmere ? -
SterisAshValKarataVenli Eliminated Vivenna. She might seem like the good daughter but remember she was the first one who ran away from home and she literally ran away from home now kinda eloping(it seems the most appropriate even tho it's none-romantic at the beginning) with Vasher into the call of adventure. She'd certainly be the type to form a band. Who would make the greatest mother of them all ?

Valette(not Vin does not pretend). She's more of my type and a lot more polite than Shallan. Would you rather worship one of the halladren gods or one of Autonomy's many gods ? -

Syl. Not even close. Syl is kinda the perfect sidecharacter with her being best friend/psychiatrist for Kaladin. I can imagine she would just be great to be together with Would you rather kill Taln or Sazed ? -

Era 4. It's space age and presumably everything has been innovated by then. Oathbringer timeskip is stuck in the medieval age. Would you rather be a soother and a rioter OR a pewterarm and tineye ? (Yes both allomanctic opposite at the same time) -

Tenth heightening. The benefits are just too good like immortality. Feruchemist still die to aging. Would you rather be a windrunner or a skybreaker? -
Why didn't Harmony help the Southern continent people
goody153 replied to Solarserpent's topic in Mistborn
Sazed doesn't even help all scadrians or stops crimes of humanity unless it actually hinders his plans/design. It doesn't mean that he's a natural to both shards and that he's a benevolent person/god that his concept of helping people in the longrun is the same as ours. Don't forget that he is still Ruin and his intent was never changed even combined with preservation. For all we know the decision to leave the southern scadrians alone might've been his conscious decision because he thinks its gonna help them in the long run(which it already did with them having advance technology). It might even be possible that kelsier doesn't even know that he was likely hatmony's help for the southern scadrians (he's not above using people or not even announcing his interference) -
You can assume what you like(if it doesn't get addressed in the future) but this is my assumption. It's abit on the darker side. Sanderson is not against writing nightmare fuel stuff. Remember the entire situation with the skaa on era 1 ? And he even wrote Tindwyl who was a breeder for the terris where her duties are done. She is an example. So while he didn't explicitly say the resolution of the kidnapped women(which I also have a hunch it started sooner than the events of AoL) but we can already assume what likely happened they live a life of abuse and breeding children who will likely get used for hemalurgy or just child soldiers. And about people looking for them. Think about how human trafficking happens IRL. How many never get found and escape such situation ? Even if an entire nation is looking for them they will likely never be found. I don't think the situation is different with the kidnapped scadrians. The hero of ages can't even be trusted to help. Remember how sazed handles peoples crime ? He doesn't do something about it unless it seriously messes up his general future design or it leads to disastrous damage to the majority. So you can't even count him out to spare people from horrible fate. He probably won't even see it as a bad thing considering he is the end. So yeah they live their life as breeders until they get found or proved worthless by set and put to death. Not fun stuff to think about but it's fiction. People say that Sanderson stuff is lighthearted but its kinda wrong considering a lot of his stuff can be considered a situation you'd find in grimdark stuff. He just doesnt emphasis on it

Stuck outside the highstorm. People can clearly survive through it and even if you don't you'll likely die fast enough. Inquisitors are almost impossible to escape and they will likely torture you. Not a difficult decision to choose from. Would rather hold the shard of endowment OR the shard of ingenuity(assuming it's a canon shard and Sanderson was not messing with us)? -
Did Honor and Cultivation have children?
goody153 replied to Ripheus23's topic in Stormlight Archive
@Extesian pls spoiler that Wob it's a huuuge mistborn spoiler and this is a stormlight sub. Some might have not read mistborn But yeah kinda agree if it was a demigod child then the mix sprens are probably those and there was a Wob about sapient children of shards have some effect on them. But not in a Greek/roman mythology sense where it has half the shard power or something like shardlike But any creation of a shard is their children so basically scadrians are the children of ruin and preservation. A shard would even call anybody who lives or practices their intent as their children so they could be also that -

(You might've missed the implication of living as a feruchemist during HoA and being a jedi at the time of Darth Sidious ) I'd rather be Kaladin. Simply because Kaladin is a guy and i'm a guy. Other reasons is that he's badass with the spear, has natural charisma, has cool gravitation powers(basically the coolest powers of the Radiants) annnd of course he has Syl. Having Syl alone warrants it. Would you rather be a God of Halladren or head of great noble familes from Lord Ruler's reign(of course you are also a mistborn) ? -
Taln is who i'm most curious about. I think Jasnah and Szeth might be really good but Taln is likely the key to all this. The key to conclusion stormlight archives series. There must be a reason that Sanderson said his favorite character and storyarc is Taln.

Rather, cause that's so self-explanatory. Would you rather be a Jedi from the era where Darth Sidious existed(Prequel trilogy movies time) or be a feruchemist around the time of Hero of Ages ? -
BilgFortuity Eliminated Heleran. He's a plotdevice he has to die or Shallan and Kaladin won't be as shiny. CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND: Who would likely die facing Kaladin ?

We know that Sazed looks down upon the usage of his very own Hemalurgy but apart from the usage of existing hemalurgic spikes with supervision(Kandra or Harmony's approval) but judging from the way things are going that Hemalurgy is going to play an important role in Cosmere. What do you would be ethical usage of hemalurgy in which Harmony allows in Scadrial or his servants ? Or is the medallions gonna make hemalurgy irrelevant in Scadrial(which harmony might likely planned for this) ? Of course apart from Sazed's own application of hemalurgy for his plans(regardless if it is ethical or not .. he is basically god he'll do whatever he wants.)

I finished Mistborn and I am officially depressed.
goody153 replied to rioter10098's topic in Mistborn
Who said we are still breathing ? Either you read more Mistborn content(era 2 and secret history) and maybe explore more cosmere. OR you could also read other works of fantasy like wheel of time, malazan or other popular stuff. Kelsier is a explosive character but he has a match on other Sanderson series like Dalinar or Kaladin from Stormlight Archives. The thing about era 2 mistborn is that while it's an a direct sequel to Mistborn Trilogy it does not follow the same pattern as Era 1. Which means you basically have a completely different style and tone of Mistborn despite being set in the Mistborn world. So it's not as dark, it's much more personal, it's actually more like "a band of misfits solving problems" more than Era 1 ever have been, the scope is not big(meaning it's more man conflict than world-ending rust that we experienced in era1). It doesn't mean it's not better or worse than Mistborn Trilogy it just has a different style. I'd say that writing quality wise Era 2 is better but it does have a oddly mediocre start and that completion wise era 1 is better(all those little things adding up to the end). Besides it explores how the Hero of Ages handles things compared to Leras or Ati. -
Yes. Be glad the vessel of Ruin and Preservation is basically just promoting Scadrial tourism and trying to build a version their own NASA lol

AmalaBilgChestertonDilafSourcefieldFortuityHeleran Eliminated Charrs. He needs better hobbies than betting on skaa-bloodfights. I think spending time on a beautiful beach would give him lots of hobbies. Who would make a decent servant of Odium ?
-
Probably not as if that was the case then using steelrunning is basically akin to having bellandium as everything in your perspective should be slowed down to match with his speed which doesn't sound right. And that's not even counting the resistance of the body to the hazards of insane acceleration which would probably mean the body is suddenly durable to resist the damage. It sounds like steelrunner have pseudo-atium(faster reaction for the increased speed), pewter(durability) and bellandium(slowed down perspective so that you can see what is going on while on insane acceleration) in that case which doesn't sound right. It can't be proportional as it has too many implications. I know that Travelers Gate series does this with Nye Essense but that doesn't sound like what happened so far with steelrunners as we've seen in Mistborn. Wasn't there also a limit even to pewter feruchemy before your body couldn't handle the strength increase any longer ? I know weight feruchemy has.

Steelrunning probably still gives some measure of modification to the steelrunner so that she can do steelrunning stuff(it might be impossible to use steelrunning without modifications ) without comically running into stuff or slipping or limbs/bones getting wrecked by the acceleration/sudden change of directions or something ridiculous. But i think there's a limit to what they could do on how fast they could be(without burning or hurting themselves) and how much reaction improvement are given to them (pretty sure steelrunning doesn't slow down time in their perspective unlike from the fantasy series called Travelers Gate where there is the same speedboost ability except that it just doesn't speed up his speed but also everybody is slowed down so that he could do stuff normally under his perspective unhindered by the insane speed he has ). I think you're just fast but you don't suddenly have a slowed down perception around you

*Car Salesman* Slaps top of Brandon Sanderson This bad boy can fit so many chekov's gun in his books.

Or it could be an element of surprise. Perception and assumption can shape so much of what seemed to have happened in the perspective of those involved. And even if it was an outside assessment Wax didn't truly see what happened and his perception of her speed could be wrong. He just assumed that is what happened. But did Bleeder really move at the speed of sound ? I mean i've read ridiculous ww2 stories about a single person making an entire military outpost feel like they're being invaded by canada lmao(i'll try to find which one of the recollection of some soldier of ww2 was this .. it was pretty funny to read something that sounds like a bugbunny stuff that really happened irl). If that happen so can people assume she moves too fast. I don't think she can really do that considering that there's an upperlimit to steelrunning with you actually burning away. I don't buy it as she did try to escape later. She was having a struggle later in the room with Wayne and she was riddled by bullets. If she was trying to talk to Wax she already done it before she went in there would be no reason to play with Wax as she could easily get caught. I think people overestimate steelrunning. Even Vin could see steelrunning of an inquisitor happen and make a Koloss react to it(remember when Elend almost got spiked by Ruin's inquisitor yeah) and pretty sure Koloss should be slower than pewter allomancer. Which means that steelrunning isn't as fast as we assumed it is.

On every other fansite. Wait holdup before you burn me like a witch in a stake. I just assumed this also meant reddit and other fantasy forums. Besides there so much fantasy series out there that i could totally live without discussing along with the main group of fans of cosmere (you only said the shard not other cosmere/sanderson discussion places xD). Would you rather have a lightsaber or shardblade(deadeye) ? -
Afaik Sazed knew what Ruin was all about around his ascension just by merely touching the power. Not even holding it just testing the waters he already what it was(it was around the ascension of Sazed before he realized the prophecy and he was in front of the two shards). Hell even others who aren't vessels knew what the shard is about by touching it(not even taking up just budding their skin to it). Dalinar experiencing what Odium is with describing in detail and Kelsier extremely detailed description of both Ruin and Preservation by merely touching with it.
