  1. I have all mine as printed books, but I know that the publisher Nightshade went broke a few years ago and were bought out. I'm not sure if they are still printing new ones or not, but you should at least be able to find used copies with no problem.
  2. God's War trilogy by Hurley
  3. Hah you guys are the best! As soon as I saw that picture I was hoping some of the sharders would decode the back of the book!
  4. About 90 minutes left and still 7 thousand more to go. It's coming down to the wire!
  5. I thought it was more incomplete than bad and I believe the next series, The Apocalypse Guard, will further explain things and that Calamity will be looked at more favorably in the future.
  6. @FiveLate Did you create that or is it somewhere on the coppermind?
  7. @Sunchicken sorry you had a bad day. Sounds frustrating! Just out of curiosity did you get to see Brian Lee Durfee? I know he attended as a author and probably didn't have much of a line because he is new. He is definitely a author to keep a eye on! I loved his first novel of a planned five called The Forgetting Moon.
  8. As a Cosmere fan I love it and hope for more of them. I do know some Stormlight Archive only Sanderson fans that are clueless on some of the easter eggs and are a little annoyed when I try to explain it. To make a long story short selfishly I am all for them (and want much more), but it might be the best for the fans, as a whole, if he cuts back on them a bit.
  9. Ok that is some news. Last I heard he completed some short stories for a different anthology that would eventually be used in Brief Cases, but that Brief Cases would be a priority after Peace Talks (sorry if my phrasing was confusing). It looks like there has been a change in plans though. Thanks for the news.
  10. If you were referring to my post I meant that sometimes authors use these cons as a place to make announcements to fans before making a official announcement on there websites. I was not suggesting that Brandon has "secret" information.
  11. I've got a question for anyone who attended the Salt Lake Con. Has Patrick Rothfuss or Jim Butcher revealed anything about their next book and possible time frames for release. I expect the answer is "no" but it can't hurt to ask.
  12. I really like the song "praying" by Ke$ha. It's hard to believe this is the same girl who sings Tic Toc and Take it Off. It's very different from the other songs I have heard from her.
  13. @Pestis the Spider first thing to get out of the way. It was me that gave you a upvote and then a downvote. My phone and thumb were having some issues to make a long story short. Now thats out of the way to answer your question. I liked Night Angel, but it had a brutality and cruelty to that world that made me feel uncomfortable at times. Although lightbringer isn't all happy it is missing that element from the world. The world is richer, more imaginative and the writing is a vast improvement.
  14. I thought I would post a link to a letter than a author sent out to publishing companies that just this week Tor signed him to a contract. I have three reasons for doing so: 1. If any prospective authors are looking for any ideas of how to write letters such as these. 2. These books look really interesting and might some people might want to look out for it when its published in 2020 (yes I know its a awhile. I have a list of series to keep a eye on though). 3. I don't know the author, but from little I know of him he seems like a cool guy and wanted give him a little support https://scottdrakeford.com/2016/02/13/the-query-that-worked/
  15. I really don't get the disappointment. We are very lucky to be able to get a adaption of our favorite books; many fans of books don't get that opportunity. If its great movie then awesome! If it is horrible pretend it doesn't exist and go back to enjoying the books. The Expanse series by James S.A. Corey is one of my favorite book series. I am not a fan of the television adaption so I turned it off and went back to enjoying the books; it didn't work out for me, but I am thankful a attempt was made.
  16. They have another article on Tor that mentions Sanderson and the cosmere if anyone is interested: https://www.tor.com/2017/09/21/max-gladstones-craft-sequence-could-fit-into-brandon-sandersons-cosmere/#more-297567
  17. I think Brandon is a thoughtful person that tries hard to see and understand how other people view the world; he tries to incorporate all of these different world views in his writing (even if he privately disagrees). I don't know Brandon personally, but I would say he is not a social justice warrior.
  18. I'm late to the party on this, but I finally started the first book in the Lightbringer series, The Black Prism, by Brent Weeks. I'm having a lot of fun with it and am very impressed with well...everything! I am technically, I guess, listening to it and the narrator Simon Vance is excellent as well.
  19. I was planning on reading the online Tor Chapters and tear through the physical book as quickly as possible, but the news of one cosmere story, The Lost Metal, for the next three years changed that approach. I am going to take my time with Oathbringer and savor it.
  20. Hah no worries. Everyone has different tastes! I've already come to the conclusion that not everyone will agree with me on things and I am ok with that; this epiphany has saved me so much stress, headaches, and pointless conversations.
  21. Powder Mage series by Brian McClellan (I personally was not a huge fan, but lots of Sanderson fans like him) The Shadow Campaign series by Wexler (also very similar to Sanderson and a much better "flintlock fantasy" than the previous series I mentioned in my opinion)
  22. I just like the style better. Also if someone drew a stick figure for a cover and labeled it "Jasnah" does that immediately qualify it as the best cover? The third reason is Jasnah's depiction, pose, and presence on the cover are in, my opinion, forced unto us by people that had other things in mind than the most natural and best fitting character and landscape. That being said I don't really want to get into it after seeing @maxal (hopefully I am remembering the right sharder) get crucified on this site for expressing similar opinions. Sorry if my response was to a rhetorical question...its hard to tell on the Internet sometimes.
  23. Say 50 Hail Sandersons, go thy way, and sin no more.
  24. So I have seen a phrase online (not on the shard) a few times over the past month and was wondering if anyone knows the origin and when this started to be a thing. The phrase is, "I slay you with truth!". Usually people put a "Boom!"in front of it.
  25. You are a Sanderson fan when you already own all of his books
