Lisa smiled. "Alright then," she said, trying to stay away from the more uncomfortable topics, "that's a deal." Right as she wanted to continue the conversation she saw one of the new arrivals hit someone on the head with a mallet. "Um," she said, sounding a bit worried, "Is that someone hitting someone else with a drum mallet?"

KanMien sighed, and fired a shot over the Jackal's shoulder. "Stay, please," they said, calmly.

Russian roulette has better odds.

I'm not sure if that's meant to sound dirty, but it does.

Alright, that sounds interesting.

Do you mind it if Lilia watches?

Lisa grimaced internally when she heard that. Alleys, she talked about looking in the alleys, lets talk about that, she thought. "Exploring the alleys, you say," she said nervously. "It sounds rather scary." "Still," she said in calmer tone, "if we're together, maybe we could? I mean, there are rumors, so if there are monsters, at least some people escape. Otherwise nobody would know about it. Or maybe there aren't any actual monsters around." "I... don't really need to beg though," she continued. "I've work as a scribe, as well as an accountant. It doesn't pay much, and it's not very interesting, but it does allow me to live here." Why did I continue on with that, she thought, mentally punching herself. Nervously, she continued talking. "If you want to, I could teach you, once this is over? It would be nice to do something else than peering through books." She smiled. "You might also be able to teach me more about this world, and the one that you're from."

I don't think there's really an ocean analog. The power doesn't really flow to or from any specific place, it just flows around, feeding into different ley lines, which in turn feed back into the original ley lines. The only way Investure is removed from the ley lines is if it manifests in the physical world, either through creating Natural magic things or forming Crystals. And when those are destroyed or used, the power would just flow back into the nearest ley line. As for people living on ley lines, probably a fair amount, given that ley lines tend to follow natural land marks and locations with a lot of life, but they wouldn't really notice it (except for Yin Innates), since the ley lines can't manifest any effects. As for power differential, I'd say the center of the ley line (at least for the powerful ones) would probably have a large differential with areas without ley lines (or those with only small ones), but I'd say they probably cover a large area, spreading out the power and making it taper off gradually. As for Roshek, probably, since it's on a big river. Again, normally there wouldn't be any noticeable effects though.

"No problem," Lisa replied, smiling. "Basically, a physicist is someone who studies how the universe works, like what causes gravity, and which mathematical formulas predict how it works. It can get quite complex though. I'm currently trying to figure out how these laws work in this universe, and how the existence of Investure figures into them. I really want to study the alleys sometimes, given some of the rumors about them. On the other hand, given some of the other stories about them I should probably stay as far away from them as I can." She shuddered. "Seriously, no matter what, or wherever I am, I'll never be coming close to an alley again." She paused, tilting her head a bit. "Still, I never did that anyway, so it's not like it's much of a difference, expect now it's monsters hiding in them instead of gang members."

"Uhm," Lisa said, not entirely sure how to respond to that question. "I'm not a psychic," she finally said. "Like I said, they don't actually exist, at least not in my world. I mean, powers like those wouldn't even be physically possible. Why did you actually ask about psychics in the first place?" She paused a bit, and then suddenly came to a realization. "Hey, did you actually meant to say physicists?"

Lisa smiled, glad for the change of topic, then started wondering how to explain it. "Psychics?" She asked. "That one is a bit hard to explain," she said. "I don't think I've come across any here, and we don't actually have any in my world either. Well, we don't have any that aren't fakes, at least. Basically, they're people who can affect things with their minds, like moving things around without touching them, reading minds, seeing the future. Some also claim they can talk to dead people." She thought for a bit. "Actually, I guess some Epics might count as psychics. Most psychics probably wouldn't be as evil -or scary- as them though."

Lisa looked up it the tone Lizanne was speaking at, and winced internally. Wrong topic, again, she thought. "True," she said, trying to defuse the atmosphere. "Still, I'd probably never use anyway," she continued in a more lighthearted tone. "If I'd ever get into trouble I'm probably lucky if I even manage to run away, instead of just panicking and hiding in a corner."

Alright. Lets keep Melee combat at skilled (I don't think I can get another 45 points of weakness). As for further nerfs, the wind abilities can only be used one at a time, and switching between them takes time. The exact amount of time depends on the ability, but the more focused the winds are the more time it takes. Basic mobility enhancement (speed boost, jumping and fall breaking) can be done in less than 0.5 seconds, while getting large gusts started will take about a second. Her defensive abilities, however, are much more focused and take longer to get started. Creating an air shell around herself (the steel bubble style defense) will take about 3 seconds, while creating an air shell around her blade will take about 5 seconds. An air shell needs to be around her blade before she can launch her air blades as well, and this consumes the shell. Also, having an air shell around the blade makes it harder to control, meaning that it becomes harder to use it in actual melee combat.

Lisa smiled a bit. "Maybe," she said. "Though I have to admit this one is interesting as well, especially studying how magic works." She paused for a bit. "That's at the moments this place isn't terrifying of course."

The attitudes of characters can help as well. Behaving the proper way can do a lot in making you seem older or younger.

Lisa looked a bit hesitant at the question. That might not have been the best starter, she thought. She sighed. "Actually, I'm hoping it might teach me something about traveling between worlds," she said. "I actually came here by accident, and apparently people didn't know about the world I came from, so I'm kind of stuck here. The fact that my world didn't have any weird things like magic probably also didn't help either."

Lisa hesitated when the woman introduced herself for the second time. Deciding that it might be a local thing, she deciding to introduce herself again as well. "I'm Lisa," she said. "Nice to meet you too." She thought for a bit, and decided a bit of small-talk might be polite. "Why did you join the expedition, actually?" She asked.

If you've got enough character slots left, sure, make them a PC. Otherwise, when using them just politely request of others to discuss what they do with the character with you first?

"Morning," Lilia replied without looking up. After a bit, she finished her drawings, and placed her cup on the paper. After waving away a fairy she focused, blanking out her mind. One for one symbols appeared in her head, linking together with the spell she had written on the paper. When she was sure she had all the variables firmly in place, she placed her finger on a specific rune, and watched water appear in the cup, air growing more dry around her. When the cup was filled, she took away her finger, and put the paper back into her pocket. She drunk a bit from the cup, eyes closed. "Do you have any plans today?" she asked Aldred.

Lilia walked down the stairs, yawning and stretching. Sleepily, she drifted to Liezl. "Got a cup for me?" she asked. Liezl gave her a look. "Again?" She asked. "You know you can just have beer right, like normal people?" Seeing the way Lilia gazed at her she sighed. "Sure," she said. "You'll be paying the same as everyone else for that cup though." After handing her the money and getting the cup, Lilia sat down next to Aldred. Moving the cup on the counter she then grabbed some paper out of a pocket, as well as some charcoal, and started scribbling on the paper.

Alright, thanks.

Alright. Is there a place to sleep at the tavern btw? I think I read something about it, but I'm not sure what it was anymore.

The ley lines are like rivers and the places where they cross (ley nodes) are like lakes. Though it's best to see this as an analogy, not as something you can actually see in the spiritual or cognitive realm. Places that aren't on a ley line will still have some ambient investure I guess, but things don't manifest as quickly as on ley nodes (ley lines also don't really influence stuff, the Investure flows too much). Alright, hadn't noticed that it happened. I do, but I hadn't noticed the kid had vanished as well. I thought they were just random dead people.
