That was indeed the quote I was thinking of. Since it's before BoM, I'd think then, that the second theory is even more plausible now.
-
I remember a WoB somewhere saying that someone had a good theory about how the FTL would work, but it wasn't correct because they were missing something that hadn't been shown in the books yet. Not sure if that quote was before or after BoM though. But it's worth considering that we may not have all the pieces of the puzzle. Other than that, I agree with Bowiespoon, I think the second theory has merit, at least in terms of using the coqnitive realm to travel.

Yes, if you remember, Vin at the start of the first book was burning metal's she got from food and water in the area without realizing it. She called it her "Luck" and used it to calm the gang boss.
-
That's something I hadn't considered before, although keep in mind, they couldn't pull on anything lighter than their clothing and whatever their carrying. Another name for them by the way, is Deader, because they have a habit of smashing themselves flat.

Allomancy is explicitly stated to be of Preservation. Not to mention a chunk of his actual being automatically makes you a mistborn as it's default setting. The origin of Ferochemy is debated heavily on these forums.

I'm not saying it has anything to do with other magics. I'm questioning whether or not Hemalurgy is local to the area that Ruin(Harmony now) resides in, if it needs to be primed before taking other magics(I don't think so, but it's possible), and while I'm aware that you need to stab someone with a sufficiently pure spike in the right location to take a power, it has been discovered on accident before, I don't think intent is relevant to whether or not someone could use hemalurgy. Although, that being said, they'd have to accidentally stab themselves with a spike after accidentally hitting the right place to take an ability, and that this is so unlikely as to be a non-factor. But I'm saying it could happen provided the two above aren't required for the magic to function in the first place.
-
I believe there's a WoB somewhere that states he intended to use Hemalurgy elsewhere in the Cosmere. That said, how would that work? Could anyone just grab a metal spike and kill a magic user with it to steal their powers? Does Harmony need to be present for Hemalurgy to function? Or like jasenerd theorizes, do the spikes need to be charged with a metalborn nature first? I think there's merit to the latter two questions, otherwise people on other planets might of discovered Hemalurgy by now.
-
Hemalurgy is no longer of great interest to the Cosmere?

Also consider that Hemalurgy works on "Every" magic, not just Scadrial's, there's a WoB somewhere that states he designed Hemalurgy with the intent to use it later on when the Cosmere start's mixing. -
Or he's just trying to emphasize the world building and the effect past events have had on the culture.
-
I think it's just a natural language progression, after all, people will sometimes say "Hellfire and Damnation" why not "Rust and Ruin". In both cases the former is a product of the latter. Of course if there's WoB about this, by all means ignore me, I haven't seen it. Also, I think there's a WoB saying Harmony is stable and another that Sazed is using the extra Ruin power for something else. I'd think holding off whatever is in space.
-
Sexuality aside, I'm pretty sure it's a safe bet to say that their close enough to human that they don't have any extra/missing organs. I have nothing to back that statement up with, but if someone has proof to the contrary, please post it.

The search for a GM continues.

Agreed, don't forget the Bands have gold in em.

You can almost certainly store the benefits. I mean why not? As long as your burning Pewter, your tougher, faster, healthier, and stronger. For anything but strength though, it probably level out that trait, say store speed while burning pewter, just walk normal speed, ect. Your quote about compounding is strictly to a pewter compounder, who could store the extra pewter strength, but it would be more productive to compound instead.
-
Oh yah, steel compounders for the win. But going off a message from Brandon that was in the Mistborn adventure game rulebook(or the alloy supplement, can't remember which) there's a limit to how fast they can go and still interact with the world because the speed doesn't make you any tougher, just cause you can go 200 mph doesn't mean you can hit a guy at that speed and not break your own bones. A kandra could do it because they don't suffer from damage the same way a human does.
-
Your gonna be waiting a long time, the space era is coming after the Dragonsteel series since Hoid is the main character, that is if I remember correctly anyway.
-
Maybe? I'm not sure, but unless their's something to the contrary somewhere, it sounds plausible to me. P.S. I also recently joined, Welcome! As this is the Mistborn area, I believe this topic is in the right place.
-
Many thanks, I appreciate the sentiment Young Bard! XD
-
I've been looking at some of Brandon's book signings, at least as of 4 months ago, he still plans one era 3 protagonist being a Nicrosil misting.
-
When you get the Mistborn Adventure Game rulebook pdf, it comes with a loosely related collection of short stories that take place in the Final Empire era, one of them is about a metallurgist that supplied savants, most suffer withdrawal like symptoms after going so long without burning their metal, and exhibit either more power, or control with their particular metals. The metallurgist had only ever met one electrum savant(he quit helping shortly after, too dangerous) that could see a couple days into the future and chat with himself about events in between. Could you imagine how useful that would be?

You know, 1 in 50 people are metalborn on Scadrial in the Alloy of Law era, how many do you think would also happen to be that 1 in 50 gay statistic? This is a legitimate question for me, math was not my best subject. Regardless, i feel like the number would be super small, and as the main character in the first three story arcs are Allomancers, I don't think it's likely that the next arc's character will be gay. Of course I read somewhere that Brandon said Hoid will be the main character for the Sci-fi arc(number 4), so he might be gay? I haven't seen any indication of his preferences as of yet, or if I have, I don't recall it.

The Lord Ruler, Atium, and... Copper? [OT Spoilers]
Your3rdShadow replied to vividox's topic in Mistborn
Also keep in mind TLR needed people to mine the pits in the first place, which admittedly wouldn't have been terribly hard to hide, but still, the potential for someone to find out would have been there. -
I'm pretty sure she was just better than everyone else. The more you use allomancy the better you get at within your own inherent limits, just like any other skill. Beyond that, remember that Vin became a shard sliver after entering the well, even if she didn't use preservation's power, she still held it. That much power changes the human body. Than of course, you had Preservation turning her into a vessel for his power. All of these together probably had something to do with her being as powerful as she was, but again, I like to think she was just had more talent and made better use of it through hard work. Makes for a more compelling character.

Look at the lot of you. Life sucked enough for those two as is! Why are you trying to make their lives worse?!?!? Your all monsters!
