  1. Granted. You now have a magical toaster - magical in the sense that it gives out wise fortune cookie-esque advice in a disembodied voice while you're making toast, and sometimes it gives out weather forecasts while said weather is ongoing. Hi. This is Karen Smith. It's 68 degrees, and there's a thirty percent chance it's already raining. Your bane is that the toaster speaks in David Blaine's voice. If you don't think that's a bane - then clearly you get more than enough sleep everyday. I wish Hoid would teach me something useful.
  2. Actually I still do. I have dream decks and other stuff but where I live the actual cards are now very hard to come by so I just play online or with roms and stuff. @Manukos By last expansion do you mean the one that introduced Pendulum cards? I'm sorry I can't keep track but the last gimmick I was willing to play with were the Xyz cards and even that was stretching it. Synchro Generation is still the best for me.
  3. Dear God, this is what I get for taking nearly a year to finish a fanfic. Now I have to make more. Ha. Can't say I'm too sad about that idea though.

  4. Random philosophical question: Truth or Freedom? Why? It doesn't necessarily have to do with anything about you, just, what concept are you more inclined to?
  5. Yeah! All of his songs are! Dead Man Walking is so funny and adorable but also kinda wistful but my personal favorite happens to be New York Soul. So smooth and sentimental, perfect for writing sad fics. Anyway, I'm currently listening to Billie Eilish, but for the sake of spreading the word, have you people heard of EDEN and Blackbear already?
  6. Do you belong to any fandoms (outside that of Brandon's works, of course)?
  7. I will have you know I came by this hair after surviving combat with a Color Drafter and an Awakener. I shall wear my rainbow hair proudly, thank you very much.
  8. I don't know if this has been attempted before (and if it was - I'm sorry, I'm not one for necroing threads) but I know quite a lot of sharders here are actually very, very brilliant poets and I thought it would be good if we could, like, post our poems in a single place. Newcomers could try their hand, experienced ones can read through and critic stuff like that. And more importantly, we can just write what we want when we want it. I'll start - here's one I wrote, it was originally for someone I knew and now it's just for someone, anyone. We Were Once a Bridge We can't expect things from each other. Except for the songs meant to drive us away. I mean it, reach out and hold my hand All I'll hold is the distance between us. Twisted fingers Broken glances Stories told underneath these covers Warm red sunsets Deep blue midnights Let's just settle for well used lovers When all is said and done Hold out your hands and reach for the distance. Maybe that way you'll find out That there's nothing to grab on to.
  9. Granted. There is now such a thing as a "Swiss army pencil." Wayne has it. I wish that the next book Brandon Sanderson writes has a magic system fuelled by caffeine intake. Because everybody loves coffee. (Oh I love you coffee so much... *makes embarrassing noises*)
  10. @Gourls If a man with sunglasses and a pervy smile on his face along with a dragon comes up to you in the middle of a street offering cookies for free, I think it's pretty safe to say that the proper reaction to all this would be to run as quickly as you can away from them. Hi! Welcome to the 17th Shard!
  11. I think I'm part of the unpopular minority here but I can't help but think that the best way to approach the entire series as a whole is to stagger it via live-television, but when I say stagger I don't just mean divide it into cohesive parts. Brandon's storytelling is perfect by itself but we're at the stage where we don't even know who the true powerplayers in the entire story are. I mean sure we have Kaladin, Shallan, Dalinar, etc. But everything is still so ambiguous. For this to work, the show may need to diverge (I mean, not plotwise of course) in a chronological sense with a clear understanding of what's going where and who's doing what with plenty of intermissions in between. I know I should have better examples handy but at the moment all I can think of is Quentin Tarantino's anachronistic style to movie-making (but not to that extent). Prerequisites would be more than just two books to base on because really we don't know enough of anything yet. Also CGI isn't really that much of an issue, I do agree with whoever said that casting is a really big issue. There is so much at stake with character portrayal here that I constantly end up feeling guilty for harboring massive expectations on anybody who dares try out for the roles.
  12. Transference is a great idea - it lays down the image of a culture/society of mercantile magic. A few things to consider though. Flexibility and rigidity are on opposing ends of the same spectrum because they both refer to the quality and feel of the material. I suggest malleability, or the quality that refers to just how easy or hard it is to mold or change an object's shape. Durability comes close to both but I concede that something can be hard but brittle and something can be soft but nigh impossible to break. Opaqueness too and reflectivity, since they both refer to how light interacts with an object. I suggest something to encompass everything related to light like IDK maybe clarity? This will include opacity, reflectivity, transparency, transluscensy, absorption, and iridescence. Oh and what exactly is conduction and vibration? I can't give you advice on this until I know more. If you're decided on 9 attributes, then I suggest the following as replacement: Reactivity (the chemical nature of an object - although even as I write this I realize it might get too sciensey haha). Form also (get something to appear as something else, size issues not withstanding - the object that gains this attribute though only looks like the attribute imparted to it but in reality its still the same object) and utility (a little tricky, basically you borrow the function of an object and give it to something else - like you take the function of a hammer and put it to a pen; the hammer is basically useless when it comes to striking down the nails but the pen, impossibly enough, becomes good at it). If those are too much then you can do with state (solid, liquid, gas...), er, radioactivity, maybe, and um, that's all I guess. Have reservations with channeling though. Anyway, great work, keep it up!
  13. Since we're talking about atmospheric pressure, theoretically one can induce changes in weather. Since two KR orders who possess the same surge may or may not employ the surge in the same capacity, I think that this is a more likely manifestation of a Bondsmith's power. Of course, this is pure speculation in my part. As for the Iron Man thing - I agree. In fact, maybe Kaladin's flight abilities is still incomplete and he'll be able to more things like this later on. On a side note, the fact that Windrunners can actually break orbit and manipulate gravity is shocking.
  14. Still gets me everytime...
  15. Granted. Your power works with such precision that you are basically hacking your body at a near-cellular basis. This power requires an in-depth understanding of psychology, neurology, bodily chemistry, and psychosomatic responses though so I suggest you crack open a book, or two (or maybe an entire library's worth of books like this) before you attempt to use your power - you might just end up numb for life. As for your bane, you now hear "Darube - Sandstorm" playing non-stop in your ear. Only another sharder can lift you of this curse, and they must do so by willingly letting themselves get stabbed by you with a hemalurgic spike. Happy hunting~ I'm a continent away from you. I wish Soonie Cub stuff toys were in real life...
  16. Oh my God, thank you, these clarifies things so much~ I should be giving you a second upvote, if only because I have no idea how to make my Excel resemble this thing you've posted here. (PowerPoint is my forte ) Anyway, my guesses for the remaining Hemalurgic uses of the metals include: Raw investiture: Possibly one of the Enhancement/Spiritual metals. I don't mean the power itself, more like... spiritual fuel or something. Intuition Youth: Possibly one of the Temporal/Hybrid metals. I mean, come on! If you're going to steal anything from somebody like their strength or their senses, wouldn't youth be also a viable possibility? Also, it's just the right amount of useless (useless in that TLR would not bother using it on his koloss or his other creations) and threatening (that even though it would be a more convenient substitute for tapping age via atium, TLR wouldn't have dared open up his body to Ruin's influence even for the sake of a few more years) that it would be left out of canon by Brandon. Intuition: Oh, and yes, Intuition - because no Mr. Staccato post regarding metallic uses would be complete without me at least referring to this attribute as a viable example. Hehehehe.
  17. Godmetals being "overpowered" has never smelled right to me. I agree. A lot of people think that since Lerasium's Allomantic use was to turn someone into a Mistborn then Feruchemically it would somehow be something like a Ferring who can store power itself and like compound it or whatever. And it never seemed correct to me since as best as I understood it the powers associated with the godmetals were never intended to work that way (or in fact, in any way at all). There was a WoB somewhere, I don't know where it is but it stated that when someone burns Atium they don't actually look into the future, it only seems that way because it is impossible to fully translate the power of Ruin through allomancy. Godmetals ARE powerful, but the process of using it - as I understand it - cannot fully manifest. Atium's seeing into the future deal is just a side effect. Now, Lerasium may translate into Allomancy because it is that of Preservation, but we have no concrete idea where Feruchemy comes from. The best many have postulated is that it is either 50/50 to Preservation and Ruin, or something inherent to Terris itself. Therefore, it's only safe to say that whatever power Lerasium has when it comes to Feruchemy it won't function right. So yes, it is very much possible that we'll end up with a weird, and useless effect (Storing Intuition!). I for one am already expecting that Lerasium is Feruchemically... well, not worthless, per say, but definitely odd and quirky and yes a little impractical.
  18. Granted. But since the Nightwatcher only knows board games from Roshar your power only works on chess, checkers, some odd equivalent of Alethi mahjong, and unsurprisingly enough, marbles. And that's just the natural consequences of your (very, very weird) wish! Your actual bane is that from now on until you next make a wish all your posts here must be made in the form of a haiku(s)! I wish for a subtle, seemingly useless power that has no purpose outside of simple amusement - like having the power to convince people to take off their socks with just a whisper! Something like that.
  19. In order for you to fully understand code, you have TO BE code. Therefore, you are now a piece of living AI in the world of Matrix - it was either that or turning you into a digimon. Oh joy. I wish for a ham and TLC sandwich. That does not somehow become a monster and will eat me. (I know your tricks you tricky sharders you....)
  20. I've been thinking along the same lines too. Allomantically speaking atium's power is temporal and lerasium - with its I endow thee allomancy, go forth and whatever - is undoubtedly enhancement. Flip it over to feruchemy and temporal becomes physical hybrid while enhancement is spiritual. Which fits like a glove! Atium stores physical age in the same manner as feruchemical gold (health). Therefore, since everything follows a pattern here - lerasium will store an as of yet unknown spiritual attribute. @hwiles Since atium's closest comparison in allomancy is gold and it has similar effects feruchemy-wise, I have to conclude that lerasium by this same logic would mimic duralumin since its the closest to its effects. Empathy and Connection are close, very close, and I think this is very much a possibility. Also, I have this feeling that since feruchemy is the middle ground that it will dilute the power of a god metal like how Atium being the universal spike in Hemalurgy ends up with age (impressive, but who wants to live forever? - I don't) in feruchemy. Therefore, lerasium, the universal metal to be burned in allomancy has to come up with something less with power. Maybe stability? Sanity? Peace of mind? Intuition? (Edited because I just want to say if it was Intuition I can see why nobody ever bothered learning its feruchemical use.)
  21. Pulling has attracted me far more than Pushing though, maybe because they aren't showcased more often in the series? Anyway I'd like to be a Lurcher. Just because.
  22. Sanderson specific? I'd go with Feruchemy. Would be nice to finally get a use out of this ring I've been wearing... Then again, it's made of bronze, and god knows I don't need anymore incentives for wasting away my evenings writing stories and posting things on the net. If I could go with absolutely anything else though I'd go for Jim Butcher's Fury system (read: less complicated spren magic), magic in Mage: The Ascension, or general blood magic from DA.
  23. And by the expression on Kaladin's face you mean the "social-situation-I-cannot-solve-via-stabbing-people-help-me" expression? Yes, I agree. Lopen seems oblivious to the fact that his captain finds hugging a foreign gesture. Haha. Overall great drawing.
  24. I can't help but think that if Brandon was lurking somewhere around here he'd mistake this thread for an actual discourse of human religion. Haha. (Which btw it is~) Anyway I'm on a mobile device right now so I can't quote people. @Crucible of Shards I can't bring it up right now but didn't Saze say that his hands were tied from interfering directly in mortal affairs because of the fact of the shards' intents? I agree that harmony means, well, general harmony but I also kinda thought harmony is letting things happen when they should happen - general escalation with minimum interference. Then again, maybe he meant his hands were tied because he was tending to the red mist. I have no idea. @Kingsdaughter613 True true - people cannot become better if everything is as is. Strife and pain are the greatest motivators for advancement. Of course, some people will get worse end of the deal with this arrangement and they'll invariably blame it on Harmony for it ever happening but bad things will have to eventually happen someone, somewhere, and sometimes that someone just happens to be you.
  25. Ha, fun. Here, I'll do you guys a favor. I once tried to make my own 16-metal Metallurgic Table (which promptly failed; lack of ideas) but I do remember listing down the metals I had planned on putting there. Here it is: Bismuth Bismanol (88% Bismuth; 12% Manganese) Lead Durite (82.5% Lead; 17.5% Antimony) Cobalt Megallium (60% Cobalt; 20% Chromium; 5% Molybdenum; 15% Carbon or something) Nickel Argentan (--% Nickel; --% Copper or Zinc) Also known as "False silver" Gallium Galfonel (--% Gallium; --% Iron) Generic name for alloys of this kind Tungsten, once known as Wolfram Stellite (--% Tungsten; --% Cobalt; --% Chromium) Indium Fieldalloy (51% Indium; 32.5% Bismuth; 16.5% Tin) Manganese Mangalloy (15% Manganese; 85% Steel) Note that though Manganese is smaller in composition, it is alloyed with another alloy instead of a base metal like majority of the original metals. Here, have at thee.
