  1. Cool! The Mistborn Trilogy was my favorite of his books, I hope you enjoy them
  2. Welcome to the forums! Which of Brandon's books have you read yet? (Oh, and your English is very good. Much better than my Spanish )
  3. It's largely based on their sDNA, which works similarly to DNA inheritance. As Oversleep said, the biggest question now is how it became part of the sDNA in the first place
  4. Word to the wise: don't wait until the day before your Spanish test to memorize all of the irregular preterite verbs, all of their modifications, and 90 other vocab words. It's not smart and hurts your head

  5. Metal is actually extremely available on Roshar. Literally all of their weapons are made of it and a single soulcasters could provide a nearly infinite supplyOh, and I think most people discount the aspect of the Thrill. It's the only reason the the Atheli army doesn't break regularly; their troops literally enjoy standing and fighting. Replace that with a feeling of dread and fear and low morale that regularly accompany troops in battle and add on the effects of soothers and rioters, as well as the intimidation factor of Koloss and Inquisitors (storming spikes through their eyes), and the Rosharan battle experience is largely negated beyond their actual skill (which still isn't all that helpful against Koloss and Mistborn). Roshar is also largely conditioned to fighting the Parshendi, who avoid direct charge and fight in pairs, rather than Koloss who are basically an offensive wall of death
  6. Digitalization would be a fun one to play around with. Having your character being able to go through electronic devices would let him quickly access data like pictures on the phones he's in, but would leave him vulnerable to blindspots and things like EMPs Another good one would be slowing time. This, IMO, would be best if it isn't controllable by the character himself, but is rather a natural effect or co-symptom of the problem. For example, if evil void monsters are jumping in to the dimension from another, say that the sudden influx of mass causes space-time to warp and slow. If you need an explanation for why he isn't effected, say it's because he's the anchor of the invasion somehow, and since he's at the eye it doesn't affect him. This would make your character able to use this whenever the monsters attack, but keep him from getting too OP
  7. I couldn't agree more, for my Writ Lit class, I literally wrote an essay on why the Mistborn Trilogy is a classic Have you read all of the Mistborn books?
  8. Very good summary. ES doesn't spoil Elantris in any way, and I would definitely recommend reading ES early in your Cosmere reading list just because of some of the ideas it introduces (plus, it's my favorite novella/short story by a long shot). Oh, and can I just say I love the phrase "set in metal"? I'm adding that to my repertoire of everyday Sanderson phrases
  9. Yeah, the table is safe, but if he were to scroll down past it (to "Events on Sel", for example), it would be less that desirable
  10. That page is definitely NOT spoiler friendly. Continue at your own risk
  11. Finally gives up trying to soulcast the stick and just sets it on fire instead Raoden
  12. I put it there just because it's a novella so it feels as if it accompanies TES quite well, although they don't share a plot or anything. Fell free to move that to wherever you want
  13. I would definitely read SH after BoM, although I absolutely hate all spoilers The reading order I'd recommend is: Mistborn (first trilogy) Elantris Emperor's soul 6th of Dusk Warbreaker Way of Kings Words of Radiance Mistborn reread** Mistborn Era 2 Mistborn: SH ** I'd recommend this as a refresher and even just because the layers of foreshadowing are even more amazing in retrospect. Edited to remove a * because it thought I was trying to skirt the rules and swear
  14. Welcome to the forums! I can largely relate to what you've said about not being as comfortable in social situations, that was me for a looooooong time. Just remember, we're all slightly awkward bookish nerds here Which of Brandon's books have you read? Any favorites? Oh, and have an upvote!
  15. Not sure if these have already been quoted but here goes.... Lightsong: Hoid (paraphrased): "I needed an objective frame of reference by which to judge the experience of your company. Somewhere between 4 and 5 blows, I place it." Teft: "I ain't grouchy, I just have a low threshold for stupidity"
  16. I had both last thanksgiving (and before someone asks, I did not eat my dog) A blister is like a new Sanderson novel
  17. Somewhat eagerly awaiting the reply on my submission to beta test Pokemon Go. I mean, I was a level 8 Ingress player, so I'm really hoping they weigh that when determining who gets in

  18. They look enticing, but are useless in every way Giant erasers are like spinny office chairs
  19. My personal opinion on the best reading order for cosmere books:Mistborn original trilogy Elantris Emperor's soul 6th of dusk Warbreaker Stormlight archive Mistborn newer era Oh, and you can use the multi-quote feature to reply to multiple posts at once and/or the edit feature to add thoughts. Just a couple ways to keep threads from getting cluttered
  20. Good game, everyone! Eliminators, you did really well! That last cycle was tons of fun to play. I was really hoping that either Straw or Elb were village, because I thought my post would be enough to sway them and, ideally, 1 other person would follow suit. Unfortunately for me, only one person (who happened to be an eliminator) responded to my argument, so I got lynched anyways
  21. The main exploration of the cosmere actually is done in other books, but Mistborn is my personal favorite and hints at many concepts explored more in-depth later, so I see it as a good jumping-in point. And it's utterly amazing so long as you don't value your free time, grades, and social life
  22. If you're implying that I've contacted you and claimed to be Rem, that's a blatant lie. If you actually mean that Rem has now contacted you and the 3 of you are pooling votes on me, that may very well be true. Either way, you're suspicious enough I'm nearly certain you're an eliminator in some capacity. Strawman HaelSeriously guys, think about it. I get 2 poke votes that aren't lifted after I post, then someone else votes on me using evidence that can be verified largely by one of the people who haven't yet lifted their vote (Elb). If the Elims are trying to stack a vote, I'd be a logical choice because I had 2 votes on me already, despite those votes not being grounded in information. Also, the person accusing me is the same person who literally claimed to be evil in a previous post, saying that the revelation didn't matter towards the end game, then quickly backtracked into saying it was a ruse, probably having realized they played their hand early.
  23. Hey guys, I was at a friends house all day, sorry for not posting My only thought currently is that if Burnt or Hael are Shinigami, then the other was likely made a holder just to keep any RL reads from occurring. I'll just vote Burnt and take the 50/50 odds of her being evil rather than letting the elims control the vote; with it as close as it is, the elims could all vote one way and win unless we get 100% village turnout. Edit: Burnt. With Sheep going to bed and the turnout we need, I'm okay with switching my vote to Strawman
