  1. Hey, welcome to the forums! Have an upvote! Have you read The Emperor's Soul or Warbreaker yet? Both are available for free online. I'll try to find the links for you if you like. In the meantime, don't take any cookies that are offered to you. They're spiked Your name is funny, by the way. I like the originality
  2. Sevro began to parse through the information he had heard while slinking through the shadows. One of the perks of being a 'bronzie' was the ability to go more or less unnoticed. So long as he covered his decorative scars, no one would think he was anything more than a lowborn Gold employed as a servant. Apparently, a lot had happened in the past few days. To start, a Telamunus had died. If I find who did that, I'll kill them. It would have to wait until after he took down the Jackal, however. That little monster deserved to die for what crimes he'd commuted at the institute. Sevro would start with his eye, of course. Fair's fair.
  3. I did not. I'm slightly overworked right now, and it slipped my mind that the plan wasn't public when I commented that. Again, I apologize. Now for some RP: The ride to Mars was long, and nearly as dull as a Gray. Sevro amused himself by practicing with his razor, although he still favored his knives. They fit him. He'd need the Razor for any conflict in Agea. He'd really begun to regret taking this cargo ship, since he hadn't had time to stock up on anything before the journey. LowColor food would have to do. He'd lived on worse before -- grilled wolf was not very appetizing, and in memory of that stage of his life he could choke down some bland crackers. As the days wore on, he began to look to other means of entertainment aboard the ship. Fortunately, it was a more advanced model, so he had some internet connection. He browsed quite a bit, sending his favorite finds to Roque and Darrow. Weeks passed, and he finally arrived in Mars. His shuttle touched down, and a crew of Browns came out to unload it. A single Copper followed, likely as a supervisor. The colony had apparently listened when he told them not to send word to of his departure. Good. If Tiberus didn't know he was there, he couldn't very well send him away. He slipped off the ship, sliding into the shadows. One of the Browns saw him, and Sevro slid a finger to his lips, the universal sign of silence. The Brown nodded, clearly accustomed to such subterfuge. Apparently more discreet activity happened here than he had thought. Regardless, he was here, and none of the highColors knew. Time to have some fun
  4. Yeah, I knew the plan was supposed to be secret when I got it from Doc's contact. I just knew that if I didn't know what the plan was, and they somehow produced a target, there's no way I would have lynched someone proposed by it until I knew exactly what had happened. Also, plans like this make the game slightly less fun because it makes actions rote and predictable for the people involved, even though they're a useful tool when used properly. If I didn't know the plan, I'd be at risk of being Mayored by those who did, which would be even worse. In addition, if Doctor was the only public link, he could have poisoned the 'well' of information at the source by clearing guilty people and then bussing a teammate. I have a village read on him, but that's no reason to blindly trust his word. Information is also easier to forge in hindsight. Elim!Doc could have held the information back until later turns, so as not to possibly reveal the plan, then release doctored info to make his team look good. Once again, this is unlikely but not impossible My final point is this: since I posted the plan publicly, everyone has had a chance to improve it. The plan's much better now by virtue of group knowledge, approval, and additional improvement via brainstorming in-thread. Elbereth, specifically, has contributed a lot to the plan, and is my strongest village read right now. Overall, we can produce a lot more constructive criticism than the Elims, simply by virtue of our size. I made a mistake in posting it, but I think it had a net positive effect PS: You're correct in assuming I've PMed other people. I'll wait for them to come forward at their own discretion, if they so choose.
  5. Here you go: https://bobson.ludost.net/hugoawardnominees/tmp/novella/Sanderson/The Emperor's Soul.pdf I'm fairly certain this is legal Heh, that's how I started coding too. Right-click --> Inspect Element is really useful for that I'm a sophomore in high school right now. Age doesn't really matter here, so there's no need to qualify 'in high school' with 'just'. You won't be judged at all as long as you're respectful and follow the rules If you're interested in learning C++/Python/HTML/rudimentary JavaScript/rudimentary Java/rudimentary Ruby, I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. Also, StackExchange is an awesome resource for anything you do coding-wise. Side note: Relying on the Internet is the hallmark of a good coder. Logic is more important than rote memorization of syntax; if you can figure out how to cobble something together and it works for you, it's a success.
  6. To each his own. I personally liked WB, but I find the main value in it to be the characters it introduces. They're important for WoR. Emperor's Soul is probably my favorite Sanderson work, so I'm excited to hear your opinions on it That seems like some pretty advanced stuff. What's your definition of 'hardly any'? The Elimination forum is a forums mafia game that's really fun. There aren't any new games that start this week that I know of, but you can check out the rules if you like ...yes Not necessarily, but it gives the person you quote a handy notification to check the thread and reply to you. You can also tag them like @Capt. Goradel
  7. Hey! Welcome to the forums, and have an upvote! Don't take the cookies. They're spiked. Also, don't worry about not being as insane as us. We'll corrupt you soon enough I believe there exists a Warbreaker PDF that our resident wearer of vests ( @bleeder) should be able to hook you up with. There's also a PDF of the Emperor's Soul, if you need that one. On a completely unrelated note, I'm going to assume you're a programmer by your topic title. What languages do you know? Also, another unrelated note, check out the Sanderson Elimination subforum! It's down under the RP section, I believe Edit: Found the PDF. Sorry for stealing your job, bleeder! http://www.brandonsanderson.com/drafts/warbreaker/Warbreaker_hardcover_1st_ed.pdf

    Yo

Hey! Welcome to the forums If you're interested in other Sanderson books, I'd recommend Mistborn. In the mean time, I'd reccomend staying out of the Cosmere Theories section because it has a lot of spoilers. Maybe use the SA or WB sections instead. Also, what sort of games do you like?
  9. We don't need to hard-clear at the expense of a village life. If we get the Lune to scan an unclaimed and they give accurate info, it's probably safe
  10. I fully understand that. I screwed up. At the same time, the suggesting you were a serial killer wasn't intended to be a 'trick'. I legitimately thought it was a possibility, otherwise I would have come to you directly instead of taking advantage of your contact. As a Bellona, I'll get 30 Merit this cycle if I max out. Feel free to try and take an ionBlade from me tomorrow to test if I'm a foresworn. Edit: Ninja'd by Elb. I hadn't thought of a Forsworn Julii taking an ionBlade. That could be annoying. Also, the amount of merit earned really depends on Aman's way of counting contribution. If every 100 words of RP gets you a merit, I'm probably at 14 right now not counting sign ups, although he likely counts at a lower rate than that
  11. Shoot. Sorry about that, Doctor! I'm going to be completely honest here. I PMed your contact and we traded roles. He told me he was a Julii, and since I wanted to be in the loop about the elim hunting plan, I took a risk and told him I was too. I convinced him to tell me your plan by telling him I thought you might be an SK targeting Juliis and that I was afraid to contact you (which was true). He filled me in so we could 'work together', and I then told him my actual role (Bellona). I later forgot that the information wasn't exactly public, and posted it in thread. *sigh* I completely understand if you want to duel me now, although I'd really prefer you didn't considering how fun this game promises to be.
  12. You can only use your family role once per night, so we could maybe figure out a system to account for those if we needed to. It'd also help us figure out who's Rath, since at least one of them is probably an Eliminator. Other than that, the only thing I can think of why knowing houses would be useful is to organize a bunch of Julii stealing ionBlades from everyone to prevent elim kills
  13. Spoilered for length (1300+ words), RR/GS spoilers, and some swearing
  14. I think he was referring to your loyalty to his direct opposite
  15. I feel like I'm missing something... Also, I'm hoping to post some more RP before the game starts, but I'm afraid I won't have the time. In case I can't, I want to say that my OOG goal this game will be to help Darrow if he's a character, since it seems like that'd be Sevro's goal. My primary goal still takes precedence, of course. (I'm only posting this now so that it's not used in analyzing my alignment. It's just something I think will be fun, but I don't want to get lynched for it)
  16. Our biggest advantage is our imposing eyespikes and our fanatical devotion to the Lord Ruler! Wait a minute... Also, welcome to the forums, Lastofus! I'd highly recommend Pierce Brown's Red Rising series if you haven't read it yet, or SJ Kincaid's Insignia, which is slightly more juvenile but still a good book. Also, if you haven't read The Emperor's Soul or Sixth of Dusk, both are Sanderson masterpieces
  17. Sevro sighed, exhausted. The Copper from earlier hadn't deserved the treatment he'd given him, but at this point he could barely control himself. His mangy golden hair, lacking the burnished glow that marked the most pure members of his gilded caste, stuck up rebelliously in every imaginable direction, as if he had been hit with a blast from a stunFist. Taming it would take more time than it was worth, so he left it as it was. I really need to cut that, soon. Maybe a mohawk or something. Glancing in the mirror, he saw that his bloodshot eye seemed almost more red than gold, a testament to the many sleepless nights he had undergone in the past week. He couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right. Nothing he could do about it, though, especially because he wasn't certain what it even was. It took time for news to reach Pluto, especially with his aversion to hackable electronic communications. Sensitive information come covertly in the hands of some trusted Browns who managed the cargo shipments his colony depended upon, but those could take up to a month to reach him. All he could do at this point was keep working, trying to stay alive and unremembered by the powers that be. Slight Red Rising spoilers ahead:
  18. Stay safe! I'll try not to lynch you if you're inactive
  19. Thank you! Without further ado, part one of my RP : Sevro au Barca woke to a knock on his door, rising from his bed as he faced yet another tiring and mind numbingly dull day. Overseeing the developing colonies in the far reaches of the society's grasp was not what he had had in mind as his future profession when he had attended the Institute and come out a Peerless Scarred. Still, with all the powerful enemies he had made there, he supposed he was lucky they let him keep his life. He grimaced, yawning, as he yanked himself from the grasp of a tumultuous sleep. It was the only kind he had known, recently. He answered the door, scratching his crotch as the bureaucratic Copper waiting outside began reading off a list of what his responsibilities were for that day. “Good morning, Primus. Today, you have some diplomatic duties that need your attention. Colony Omega, approximately 57 kilometers away, would like to expand its mining privileges into lands traditionally held by your colony. In exchange, they--” He looked up. “Bloody-- Primus, why aren't you dressed? You have to show up for the joint briefing in less than half an hour!” “I'm not gory well dressed because I was sleeping until your gorydamn knocking woke me up. Slag off, Victus” “But, Primus, you-” the Copper began, only to choke off as Sevro flipped him the crux and swung the door shut.
  20. Aman, is RP before the game starts redeemable for merit? I'd like to post the RP I've written so far, but I'm not sure how much I'll be able to write, so I want to milk or for all its worth (I'm fine with waiting until the start, if you prefer)
  21. I tried the Red->Blue->Brown one in the spoiler, because formatting broke on my iPad. I'll try to fix that
  22. A suffocating baby? (Sorry for the gruesomeness, I was trying to think of something I wouldn't normally guess since you made it seem like it's difficult) "Do you always tell the truth?" If they say yes, I ask "Who in the room tells the truth?" If they say no, I ask "Who in the room doesn't always tell the truth?" Explanation:
  23. *cough*justthedoctor*cough* Very nice job! It's probably better than most of mine will be I'm going to try to bounce RP off of you, since you're the Jackal and all. Know that my RP will have little to no relevance to the actual game, so ignore any faux enmity when I'm in character. It's not me actually trying to get you lynched, unless I take real action
  24. Welcome to Sanderson elimination! Hope you enjoy Edit: Just realized you played in the last QF. Ignore my first sentence I look forward to playing with you!
