You’re the one who gave me a gun without proper instructions!!! WTWTTSWY are confronted by the Elendel constabulary who heard the gunshot? (Fortunately Kelsier thought you had a point and is now laughing.)

Um... so which part’s the safety? WTWTTSWY accidentally shoot the Survivor (who can heal now; see Fullborn) after accidentally setting off the gun?

My mother! Who insists everything needs to be cleaned despite it being spotless. And no, I’m not. I don’t like macaroons... Well, not Pesach ones. French macaroons... TPBM makes their own charoses. -
I captured Kalak for Master Thaidakar? WTWTTSWY are dragged back to Scadrial to answer ‘Master Thaidakar’s’ questions? (“How did you get here from Brandon’s world? Can I do the same in reverse? How’s Operation Mitsubishi doing? Could you convince Brandon to let me worldhop already? And by convince I mean: here’s a gun. Here’s the safety. Keep it ON. I need him alive to write my story. Just get him to quit it with that Spensa brat and start writing The Lost Metal, okay?”)

The odd thing I’ve noticed is that SA only, or casual readers who are only barely aware of the connections seem to do fine, as do those of us who either reread extensively or remember minor details from books they read once half a decade ago. The problem seems to exist only if you’re both aware enough of the Cosmere to know the connections are there and recognize them when you see them, but don’t know enough to know what they’re referencing or if it’s important. It reminds me of a Reddit discussion I had with someone, who asked about what they were supposed to know and had a similar complaint. The answers were essentially: we learned this in SA or we don’t know anything about this. In other words, everything that confused them was either answered in SA or was something we didn’t know. They were confusing themselves by overthinking because they knew the connections existed, but didn’t know enough to recognize what was a connection and what wasn’t so assumed everything they were confused about was explained elsewhere. They had also missed some important details when actually reading SA, which is a different matter entirely; the books are big and it’s been six years since WoR and ten since WoK. So a lot of the questions you may have due to ‘Cosmere references’ may actually have been explained or foreshadowed in WoK, and you’ve simply forgotten over the past ten years. (Quite understandable; I have three little angels and it’s hard enough to remember daily tasks, let alone a random epigraph from ten years ago!) The only two big crossover elements in RoW are from Warbreaker and Mistborn, and you don’t need to read either. Warbreaker expands on the pasts of Zahel, Azure and Nightblood. Mistborn will give the backstory of Thaidakar. That’s it. Everything else is an Easter Egg or was clearly explained in the book. There’s no need to read those books, and you certainly don’t need to read any others. I would recommend reading the SA companion novellas, as those are directly related and events in those tend not to be explained in their entirety in the major books.

The real issue is that he can push on trace metals - and he’d be pushing against the continental plate while being extremely heavy. The result would not be great for anyone living in the area.

I didn’t mean in the technical sense (I could guess at that). I meant in the “how obscenely explosive would those effects be.” Hypothetically, assuming Kell normally has the kind of power he put in the Bands: Let’s say he’s burning steel, iron, pewter and electrum. He’s also tapping iron and pewter. You Nicroburst hit him and he’s suddenly an extremely heavy, extremely strong, being super-pulling on buildings and pushing on the continental plate while gazing into the Spiritual realm. Explosive seems insufficient for the possibilities.

This concept gets really interesting when you consider whatever role Kelsier will be playing. He’s the only person we’ve seen create allomantic medallions, and he’s a Fullborn (or has access to those abilities. What would an unexpected Duralumin burst do to a compounder?! Random Kelsier being gleeful and sneaky on the 7 of Spears:

Mistborn Tarot: Spoilers for all books (Discuss)
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Kingsdaughter613's topic in Mistborn
Mistborn Tarot: The Ascendant Warrior The Ascendant Warrior is also known The Ascendant’s Field or simply The Stars. The corresponding card in our world is The Star. Upright this card symbolizes Hope, Faith, Purpose, Renewal, and Spirituality. Reversed it represents Lack of Faith, Despair, Self-trust, and Disconnection This card, like many prior to the fall of the Final Empire, once displayed the Lord Ruler. The card was then known as The Sliver. Skaa readers typically reversed the card meanings at this time. Like many similar cards, this card went through a brief period where it displayed the Survivor. That version of the card is known as The Lord of the Mists. Both cards are still in use, but are uncommon. It is unclear when this card began to display the Ascendant Warrior above the Mists. The decision was likely related to the Survivorist belief that Lady Vin merged with the Mists. It is generally accepted that Lady Vin’s placement on this card led to her husband’s position on the Last Emperor card. There are sixteen stars above the Ascendant Warrior, symbolizing the sixteen metals. Her hands reach up to catch the stars as she falls into the Mist, trusting it to catch her. She hovers momentarily between worlds, between realms, as she prepares to Ascend them entirely. In this she represents all three realms of existence. WIP images for The Ascendant Warrior: -

Yes, I’ve done it. Vaguely. Very, very, vaguely. I don’t think we ever learned of it, but I remember hearing that there had been a debate over it. I am a lightweaver. TPBM knew their order before taking the quiz. -

Well, I have now. I think I’ve heard it mentioned before, but I didn’t know anyone who went. I’m a girl with only sisters, so I know about three Yeshivos: My father’s, my husband’s, and the Mir because Olamainu had a story about the escape to Shanghai. TPBM has read/heard of Olamainu (which I’m probably misspelling). -

You should read it before, since RoW can spoil HoA. -
Nope. The planet this location is on has Cognitive Shadows would also have been more accurate. The planet this location is on has had at least two Shards Invested in it. This location has not always existed on this world. At one point on page, this world had no perpendicularities. We haven’t actually seen this location, but we know it exists and it may have been mentioned once in a Broadsheet.

Yes. And you should read Mistborn before RoW, as that book has been known to spoil the ending of Mistborn. TPBM immediately ran to reread Mistborn after finishing RoW because “what the RUST >spoiler<?!” -

Mistborn Tarot (Critique and Discuss)
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Kingsdaughter613's topic in Sanderson Fan Works
Mistborn Tarot: Six of Spears The Six of Spears shows the last embrace of the Survivor and the Ascendant Warrior. They stand in the mists of Scadrial’s sub-astral, encircled by six Spears. The number six is above and to the right. This card represents Transition, Change, and Unfinished Business. The first cards showing the Survivor and Ascendant Warrior embracing appeared shortly after the Survivor’s death. At that time the card showed the two in the Square of the Survivor, in the long since destroyed city of Luthadel. I have seen a handful of decks utilizing that version of the card, but they are quite rare. This version of the card came from the deck of the Lord Mistborn, and has since become the most common variant of the card. Prior to the fall of the Final Empire, this card displayed a parent and child on a canal boat approaching a lock. Some Sliverist decks still utilize the original imagery. -

Mistborn Tarot: Spoilers for all books (Discuss)
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Kingsdaughter613's topic in Mistborn
Mistborn Tarot: The Catacendre The Catacendre is Scadrial’s version of The Tower. The name is obviously a post-Catacendre invention. Pre-Catacendre cards displayed seven volcanoes and the card was known as The Ashmounts. Post-Catacendre, the card, associated with Upheaval, began to display the tumultuous events that ended the World of Ash. Upright this card symbolizes Sudden Change, Upheaval, Chaos, Revelation, and Awakening. Reversed it represents Personal Transformation, Fear of Change, and Averting Disaster. The card shows to hands cradling Scadrial. One hand is white, symbolizing Preservation, and the other is black, for Ruin. The two hands blend at their base, indicating the merger of forces. Between the hands are sixteen stars, symbolic of the sixteen allomantic metals. Nine stars are above Ruin’s hand, indicating the nine base metals that had been commonly known in the Final Empire. (Atium being a godmetal, of course.) Three stars are between Preservation’s fingers, representing the three metals discovered by Lady Vin: Aluminum, Duralumin, and Electrum. Here is the line art prior to coloring: -
“You are,” Kelsier agreed, allowed his native accent full reign. He doubted Aspen would like him in her mind, but she wouldn’t want the others hearing this either. “But can you really tell me you’re little Marie Lekal? The girl in flowing gowns, curled hair, with just a trace of dirt beneath her nails from time spent in the greenhouse? “Which were beautiful, incidentally.” He wasn’t lying; they had been. He remembered being both impressed and angry. Impressed at the skill, but angry that Skaa had been forced to work to create it. It had never occurred to him that the garden had been the work of Noble hands. ”But I don’t think you can say you’re all Ruin’s Inquisitor either. There’s too much of you and too little of him for that to be the case. So neither of those names fits.” He watched her carefully, gaze never wavering. “Why do you think I want you in my crew?” He asked abruptly. “I don’t need your powers and your spikes make you a liability, not an asset. I have enough spikes here to make an Inquisitor if I wanted one, but I don’t have to. I can duplicate my powers at need and give them to whomever I choose. ”But I remember your aspens. Strong enough to grow in ash, they were harsh things, stark and white. But you brought out their beauty, weaving their branches into a delicate trellis. I never thought aspens could be beautiful until you showed me they could be. ”I don’t choose people lightly, Marie. I choose people because they’re something I’m not. You are better person than I will ever be. That is why I want you on my crew. ”But even if you choose to stay with Saze, I want you to remember. You have something remarkable within you. Don’t hide it away.”
