Trésor offered up the cards again. “The present,” she said as her companion chose, once again not looking. She began reshuffling the cards, not waiting to be told. Not that it mattered. The outcome would be the same no matter if she used 78 or 22; no matter how the deck was randomized. He would always draw the same three cards. @Trutharchivist

Trésor sat down beside her companion and pulled out the cards, spreading the full 78 card deck out. “Take your pick,” she said quietly. “Three cards, for past, present and future.”

Kelsier smiled, then through himself out the window as Trésor crossed the threshold, leaving the room behind.

By the time she had, Kelsier was climbing out the window and Trésor was walking out the door. “Try not to interfere with the plot any further,” Kelsier warned as he left. “Amusing as it is to watch, it’s rather annoying to set to rights.”

Kelsier smirked and stood up. “Thank you for the books, Lilli. They were quite interesting.” It had given him a starting point, at any rate. Scadrians had a stronger affinity for metal than Nalthians; now that he actually knew something about Nightblood’s creation... Well, it had always been a matter of time. Trésor put away her cards, sliding the pack into her robe pocket.

“It was mentioned in Hero of Ages, actually,” Kelsier noted, “and he said it in the annotations. Marasi tells MeLaan Survivorist beliefs - including my survival - in Shadows of Self, although Demoux said it first, back in HoA. “Brandon was laying it on pretty thick near the end there on the off chance someone would miss it.” ”Considering how many people STILL missed it, perhaps he should have been more obvious,” Trésor said dryly.

“Read between the lines,” the Survivor said dryly. “Tan speaks of me, not Saze. And it was my church everything went down in. “Besides,” he added, “do you really see Saze setting up a con like that?” ”Harmony likes to encourage things,” Trésor agreed. “My lord makes them happen.”

Kelsier raised a brow. “I thought you read the books? Saze was never going to do what was needed, so I did it for him.”

“Nah, I’m sure he’ll figure it out eventually.” Miles would be kidnapping Steris on her next outing with Ladrian, hopefully fixing the plot. “I didn’t go to the trouble of getting him to shoot his wife so you could stop him from becoming what he needs to be.”

“I can hope. Of course, you did just ruin the plot. It was rather amusing to watch, I might add. Though I do wonder what Wax will think when there’s no attack tomorrow...”

Kelsier shrugged again. “You’re fifteen years too late, I’m afraid. Time skip, remember? I’ll keep it in mind for book six.” He scowled suddenly, a thought occurring to him. “Rusts! If book four just released then he’s nowhere near writing Era 3!”

“So,” the Survivor said grinning, “what has Brandon written about me lately?” Trésor sighed, flipping through a tarot deck as she watched the hall.

@Random Bystander ”Oh, she wasn’t stalking you,” Kelsier informed Lilliana. “I was. I just told her to talk to you so I could read in peace.” Trésor rolled her eyes.

“The library was closed,” Kelsier said cheerfully, dropping the bubble. “And you had some books by my favorite author” Trésor entered the room, looking rather annoyed. “Apologies, Master Kelsier. She seemed rather happy to meet others from her world before. I don’t know why she panicked.”

Kelsier put the second book away, preparing to pull down the speedbubble when Lilliana crashed through it. “You really should watch where your going,” he noted lightly. “Falling into alternate worlds, smashing through speedbubbles...”

Trésor smiled gently at her. “That was a terrible lie. You’re not the only one from that world to come here you know.” She raised a brow as the young man ran off. “Forgot Mincha, did you?” she said, amused. Kelsier set aside Warbreaker. So that was how Nightblood had come in to existence, was it... Good to know. Smirking, he picked up Arcanum Unbounded, smiling fondly as he glanced over Khriss’ essay. This was the short version, of course. He’d read the longer one, published in the two volume “Worlds of the Cosmere” set. The one here, he noted with disappointment, was a trifle outdated.
