I would like Saze to be voiced by either a deep voiced woman or a high pitched man. This is because Sazed is a eunuch and never went through male puberty so his voice should be higher pitched. A transwoman who never went through male puberty would be perfect for the voice.

Renarin's name - what I'm hoping Brandon ISN'T doing

Yup, thanks. I couldn’t remember how it got to Egypt for some reason, even though I should have. -

It’s usually the Talmud for stuff on Jesus. I’ll have to ask my husband for the exact places; it’s all over. (Censors meant they had to be careful.) We believe that God always spoke to Moshe directly. I’m not annoyed at you for arguing that, btw. I’m annoyed because you won’t cite the relevant psukim so I keep having to do the research. The word angel means messenger. Which means it may refer to different things depending on context. Generally speaking, if it says Malach it means messenger or angel. Context is everything and I don’t like looking things up that much. -

The terms used in Hebrew are different. Malach refers to a an angel. YHVH is never used to refer to anyone but God. Elohim is rarely used otherwise, the only exceptions being Elohim acherim (foreign gods) and Elohai HaElohim (God of the gods). It comes down to linguistics - so PLEASE stop using English. Cite in Hebrew. I can read it just fine, don’t worry. And yes, I know of the contradiction. There were angels there, but God’s presence was also there directly protecting us. It’s complicated, but both statements are accurate. Does a King come without a retinue? At least according to some. There are several commentators on the subject. Why don’t you cite them instead of stating there’s a contradiction without: a: citing both phrases with context and b: relevant commentaries on the subject. And you may want to consider not directly challenging a rather important principle of Jewish faith if you don’t want people getting annoyed. Moshe always spoke directly to God. That’s why we say אֲנִי מַאֲמִין בֶּאֱמוּנָה שְׁלֵמָה שֶׁנְּ֒בוּאַת משֶׁה רַבֵּֽנוּ עָלָיו הַשָּׁלוֹם הָיְ֒תָה אֲמִתִּית וְשֶׁהוּא הָיָה אָב לַנְּ֒בִיאִים לַקּוֹדְ֒מִים לְפָנָיו וְלַבָּאִים אַחֲרָיו: every day. Moshe was unique among prophets. You arguing that I should consider otherwise would be like me arguing that you should believe that Jesus was just a mamzer who pissed off his teacher and got kicked out of school. I’d doubt you’d be pleased if I did that, though I could actually cite sources. And we are arguing a particular case, not others. Why bring in others? You want to prove a point - cite! Give me psukim, commentators, etc. Didn’t you learn this in grade school? My teachers were largely awful and they still taught me enough to find my way around Chumash Rashi. I’m sure you had better than a bunch of seminary girls, lol. -

Considering the names used are different... The angel and the speaker were not the same. Elohim spoke to Moshe. Malach Elohim (an angel of God) was in the Bush to get Moshe’s attention. But the angel never spoke. The angel was there to make the Bush ‘not burn’. God is everywhere. His voice emanated from the Bush when He spoke directly to Moshe. Just read the psukim, which I quoted. It’s pretty clear. Angels are not referred to EVER as YHVH or Elohim - and the speaker is referred to by both names. A Malach is referred to as a Malach. Did you even read the psukim? So no, we don’t agree as the text disagrees with you. Yes, the angel just hung out. Or left. It’s not important either way, though I’m sure someone commented on it. God always speaks directly to Moshe. And Wikipedia is not a source. Rashi is a source. Ramban, Ibn Ezra, Sifsei Chachamim, Shemos Rabbah are sources. Onkelus, Rabbeinu Yonasan, Ohr HaChaim, Abravanel, Rambam, Me’am Loez those are sources. Wikipedia is not. You want to argue? Show me a Sefer, not a webpage. Cite me a reputed commentator. That’s how we argue Torah. (Hey, there’s a reason we Jews are so good at arguing. It’s literally a part of our religion. Do you have any idea how many commentaries we have? I have multiple bookshelves packed with Sefarim - and they get used!) As it so happens however, Wikipedia agrees with me: Exodus 3:2–4. The angel of the Lord appears to Moses in a flame in verse 2, and God speaks to Moses from the flame in verse 4. YHVH does not translate to Lord, btw. It just doesn’t have a translation. -
I’m still hoping one of the mods can reopen my old tarot thread in Mistborn. Until then... Please be aware that most of these cards were made four years ago. These cards are hypothetical tarot deck from Era 3 Mistborn: The Fool: Retaining it’s name from pre-Catascande Scadrial, it represents beginnings. Hence the Lord Mistborn heading from the World of Ash to the Anteverdant one. The Sovereign/The Fullborn (The Magician): This card was called the Mistborn in pre-Catascande Scadrial. Post-Catascande gave it the name Fullborn, and it has slowly transitioned toward being called the Sovereign. It represents Power and Manipulation. The Sovereign points to the four suits (Bands, Medallions, Spears and Metals or Spikes) representing his mastery of them. As the card becomes more strongly identified with The Sovereign, some interpreters have begun pairing it with the Survivor and creating unique meanings based upon the drawing of both cards. This has yet to become widely accepted, however. (If you know the RL history of this card you should know why Kelsier is so perfect for it.) The Misting (the Priestess): This card retains its name from pre-Catascande Scadrial. It represents Intuition and Secrecy. It is unclear when the cards began displaying Beldre, wife of the Lord Mistborn, but she is the most common portrait in modern tarot decks. (Do you have any idea how hard it is to substitute Lunar imagery because Scadrial doesn’t have a moon? Literally all I remember from making this card.) The Lady (The Empress): Also known as the High Lady. There is no mystery to Lady Alriane’s place on this card; her many discourses on a woman’s role in society have made her the perfect depiction of Feminity, represented by this card. The Lord Ruler (The Emperor): Pre-Catascande this card’s upright and reversed meanings were switched. Skaa readers traditionally swapped the meanings and today that is the accepted interpretation. It represents Domination and Authority. (Considering Scadrial’s history it made more sense for the meaning to be reversed.) The Obligator (The Hierophant): The Last Obligator adorns this card, as quickly became customary after the Catascande. This card represents Tradition and Government. The Lovers: Another card that retains its name, the Imperial pair represent Love. The Hound/The Guardian (The Chariot): Featuring the Guardian, the Hound card represents Determination and Self-restraint. Indications are that this card may have always featured a large dog of some sort. Strength: The Strength card is often misunderstood, as it does not refer to physical strength. Rather, it represents Integrity. The Kandra (The Hermit): Custom has it that this card features OreSeur, the Kandra who served the Survivor. It represents Introspection and Isolation. Fortune (Wheel of Fortune): Unsurprisingly, this card represents luck. Death/Ironeyes (Justice): Once known as the Inquisitor, this card was often referred to as ‘Death’ by both nobles and Skaa. So it’s not all that surprising that it became associated with Ironeyes. This card can be paired with The Survivor to create a unique trump pair known as The Brothers. In readings the two cards are said to symbolize familial relationships. Note that the Sovereign cannot pair with Ironeyes. As with the Lord Ruler, Skaa traditionally reversed the meanings of this card. However, this tradition has faded due to the card’s association with Ironeyes, who is viewed as a more just figure (albeit a terrifying one.) This card represents Law. Sacrifice (The Hanged Man): The Sacrifice card is an old one and it represents Insight. The Survivor (Death): This card has a fascinating history. The earliest versions call it Dust or Death, and it portrayed the Deepness. Pre-Catascande Nobles called this card the Deepness and portrayed it traditionally with dark swirls. Skaa were not taught religion in the Final Empire, so when the game made its way to them they - rather ironically - began referring to the card as The Mist. When the cards began being used for divination, this one came to represent Change. The Survivor quickly became associated with the Mists and no one can deny that he was - and is - a tremendous force of change. So it’s rather understandable that he became associated with this card. (In case anyone is confused: RL Tarot Decks have a Justice and Death card. Scadrians call the former Death and the latter the Survivor.)

Renarin's name - what I'm hoping Brandon ISN'T doing

Found it. You’re right that he sees an angel in the Bush, but I’m right that it’s God who spoke, as seen in verse four: As you can see, in verse four it’s God talking from the Bush. When it’s an angel it’s specified, as in 2. Moshe always talked directly to God, including at the Bush. The angel was just to get Moshe’s attention. None of those words means Lord by the way. One has no translation and one basically translates to God. -

Yeah... no. Angels are angels and are clearly identified as such. God is God and the word ‘Adon’ Lord doesn’t appear in the Hebrew very often - and when it does it’s pretty clear who is being referenced. I assume you’ve read the Hebrew, as obviously anything translated from Hebrew to Greek to Latin to English is going to have significant errors. That’s why the priests in the Vatican study the Old Testament in Hebrew, like every good Orthodox Jewish school kid. How else would you learn it? And I mean that seriously. Yisro is Moshe’s father-in-law. Father of Tzipporah, ancestor of the Druze, man who created the Jewish legal system which led directly to the modern American one, has an entire parshah named for him - the one where we got the Torah, Pharoah’s former advisor who fled because he disagreed with the ‘enslave all the Jews plan?’ That guy? His name doesn’t start with a Gimmel-dagesh - it starts with a Yud and I’m not German. Yes. The Staff was kept in the first Temple and was used there on occasion. It vanished with the destruction; possibly earlier when Chizkiyahu hid the Aron. -

Either Mishnah or the Zohar. And Moshe didn’t meet with an angel. Moshe spoke to God ‘Panim el panim’ - face to face. From the burning bush on. No intermediaries. That’s why Moshe is THE prophet. Only he got to speak with God directly. And the Staff had multiple owners; Moshe wasn’t special in owning it. It previously belonged to Yisro. It was a holy object, but it had no inherent abilities as far as I know. The miracles happened because God wanted them to. The Staff didn’t cause them. Any staff could have been used - Moshe’s just happened to look really cool and have an amazing history. -
Very likely. Interplanetary smuggling ring! (Probably somehow led by Kelsier, assuming he survives to Era 4. Because we all know he would.)

It was the same staff. And no, it wasn’t ever simple. The staff was created at dusk in the moment between the end of Friday and the beginning of Saturday on the first week. It was given to Adam. At some point it got to Yisro, who shoved it deep into the ground in front of his home. The staff would belong to whoever pulled it out. Which no one did until Moshe showed up... The staff was inscribed with the Hebrew phrase: D’Tzach Adash B’Achav. Those letters are the first letters of each of the twelve plagues in the original Hebrew. Never could understand why all the movies show a boring, wooden staff. The Sapphire one is much cooler! And has an awesome history! And would make such an incredible visual effect! Yes, Aaron’s staff was a normal one until it started blooming, as far as I know anyway. It grew almonds because it was made of almond wood, I believe. -
I think my way would be easier, where you can buy in to any system, but your planet gives you perks. Ie. Nalthians are born with a breath, Scadrians can be born with a power, Rosharans have a much easier time bonding Spren, etc. I’d also consider physical differences when traveling. For example, I’d give Rosharans a minus to both stealth and dexterity on other worlds as their world has lower gravity and they’re taller. Also constitution, as Roshar has higher oxygen. (And it now occurs to me that Rosharans are really disadvantaged off-planet. Wonder how that will factor into the space age...)

Sure. It could be interesting. There are a lot of differences (and loads of things people don’t know, like Moshe’s staff being sapphire.) -

Kelsier shot the shorter man a glare, knocking him off balance with a light steelpush, before turning to the twins. “My family was attacked by dark wizards years ago. They trapped me in a cavern in the ground and forced me to work for a year before they were caught. It’s ‘ow I got these.” He tugged off his left glove, showing the twins his scarred hand.

Like I said, most people disagree with us. Though I doubt it’s that shocking that we aren’t too fond of him.
