  1. “Out of mine. Here we are trapped. Not good. But if cannot leave, find narrow place. Hold off many.”
  2. Then Thanks! I doubt it though. I’m sure there are other major Tolkien fans on here too.
  3. Nope, I just wasn’t sure of the context.
  4. Eryn heard the orders, her eyes narrowed. Then she burned pewter. The power wasn’t hers, of course. It belonged to the Sovereign. His great gift, to share his powers with all if he chose. And his power was grand indeed. Eryn moved, her body unnaturally lithe and quick. Far quicker than any normal human’s might be. Bones and muscles strengthened to allow her to move at such speeds. Trails of mist floated off the edge of her form. She released her burn as she neared her companions. “Hurry.” She warned. “Must go. Man come; hurt Raven. Send for other men. Thinks plans attack. Leave now.”
  5. Eryn scowled, watching the new man. Quietly she whispered down the details of the event, then stored the memory of the whispers away. She could kill the man, of course. But then she would not know how he had learned the third art. Someone must have taught him. She swallowed a vial of pewter and followed Meens through the halls, unseen in the hidden crevices above.
  6. Kelsier shrugged, then removed his glove and placed the tip of his finger on the door. There was a quick prick to the tip as the door tasted his blood, and then the great metal doors pulled aside revealing the array of objects within. There were gems, most dull but some glowing with a inner light. Metals ranging from previous gold to cheap aluminum lay scattered about. Some of those metals were shaped into pointed spikes of varying sizes. Others lay in thin sheets or mounds of small beads. There were monies too, of varying currencies. Including the strangely shaped coins of this realm. Kelsier pushed aside an elegant dagger, the blade glowing a faint blue. The presence of the goblin, he supposed. There wouldn’t be any Yrch here; wrong universe - probably. It got confusing, what with the Legendarium being a pseudohistory. He gave Adara’s Rose a quick once over, checking to see if the delicate flower needed care. It seemed well enough, preserved in its Cadmium bubble. A useful thing, that flower. The technology would be largely useless, unfortunately. Investiture interfered with it in this world. Except when it didn’t, of course. Kelsier sighed, then knelt down to collect a good amount of this world’s coinage. He took the opportunity to pocket beads of the various metals; who knew when he’d have another opportunity to restock? After a moment’s thought he took the dagger as well. Curufinwe’s work; it was as deadly as it was beautiful and to heavily Invested for anyone but Kelsier himself to push on. On a sudden whim he snatched up a delicate flute, long ago stolen from Photon. It wasn’t like they needed it anymore there and it’s pure tones were perfect for the Rhythms... Satisfied, he turned to smile at his friends. “Who’s next?”
  7. Eryn watched Raven go, her eyes narrowed. “Wait here,” she whispered to her recruits, “and keep the child safe.” Silently, she began to follow Raven, tapping her Coppermind to perfectly recall the myriad winding paths and hidden alcoves. As Raven entered the office, she removed her thick coat, hiding it in a crevice. She swung herself into a nearby nook, moving through the cracks in the rock until she could hear the voices.
  8. He shot them a quick grin as he headed toward the vault. 1616, of course. “No hard feelings. It’s just not something I like to dwell on. ”C’mon,” he added, as he stepped up to the doors. “Let’s see what’s inside.”
  9. Okay! Thank you so much! For some reason I can’t seem to report the thread? It’s here anyway: Thanks so much!
  10. Kelsier scoffed. “You try enduring torture and forced labor for a year after seeing your family murdered and behaving like an ordinary child. We’ve seen things no one should; that changes people. It made us grow up. We may be eleven, but you’re right - we aren’t children. Not anymore.” He swung himself over the lip of the minecart as it stopped, landing lightly on the rocky ground. “I don’t want to talk about it anymore, okay?”
  11. Kelsier turned away, hiding his eye again. “I told you,” he said harshly. “My family was attacked by dark wizards. They did this to me.”
  12. “You are welcome. I have some more, but will need supplies later.”
  13. I’m outa here! WTWTTSWY accidentally teleport yourself to the Cosmere, breaking every Realmatic rule?
  14. The original thread blogged the creation process of the first twelve cards. It discussed the process of picking characters, the symbology, the various materials used, etc. I thought it would be nice, now that I’m continuing this, to continue the original thread so anyone interested could see the process. Hi, btw! I saw you followed me on Instagram! Thanks!
  15. Never bring a knife to a gunfight! (Pull revolver!) WTWTTSW You’ve just committed justifiable homicide with an illegal gun? (Because New York.)
  16. You get the Renaissance! (Cafe I’m eating lunch in.) Inserts Tea.
  17. Gets a burrito. Inserts breakfast.
  18. Gets Bridge 4. Inserts a random Pattern.
  19. Eryn glances over at Ladashwi, then pulled out a small, wrapped bar. There were nuts inside, and pieces of hard toffee and caramel, blended with a sweet, rich bar of creamy chocolate. “Here,” she offered.
  20. Kelsier’s smile faded, and he fixed the twins with a sharp glare. Slowly he raised his hand, lifting the patch over his spike. “Do you really think,” he said lowly, “that we are children? Children are innocent - like you. We aren’t. Not anymore.” He allowed his grief, the grief of centuries, the grief of a man who had watched friends and loved ones die to gleam in his hazel eye. “Do you really think,” he said, his voice rough with loss, “anyone could be?”
  21. I think you meant Design. Design is Wit’s Spren.
  22. Something interesting I just realized: Lift is 13 when the True Desolation begins. That makes her 14 in RoW. Why is this important? Because in Scadrian years she’s almost 15 and a half. And in the Final Empire - where Thaidakar grew up - that was considered the edge of adulthood. 15 year olds were combatants (see Spook.) This actually changes the perspective on her capture quite a bit. Thaidakar would not consider Lift a child because on his world, when he grew up, she wouldn’t be. It’s like someone from the 1700s (which is kind of TFE time period). 14 and up were adults and you wouldn’t expect someone from that time to perceive our teens as children - even though most of them are. And this is important because, whether or not Kelsier knows about Lift is suddenly irrelevant. She’s not a kid to him. If he met her, saw how immature she was, sure. Then he’d realize she’s still a kid. But if all he knows is that she’s a fifteen and a half year old Edgedancer, well... She’s not a child. She’s old enough to make adult decisions - and he has no reason to assume a Knight Radiant couldn’t. Spook was a spy at that age, and running a nation not two years later. Vin was an assassin when only a little older. Lift’s practically old enough for marriage - if she isn’t already old enough! So he’ll treat her exactly like the adult he perceives her as being - which means he’d probably be okay with the sale. Cultural biases are fascinating, no?
