Long Game 43: Under the Banner of Adonalsium
DrakeMarshall replied to Seonid's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Double posting because this is changing votes. Currently HH has two more votes than Jondesu. If HH uses aspects to tip the balance, that will make a tie. So... HH. Straw. Not happy about this, but I'd be less happy with a third consecutive failed lynch. -

DrakeMarshall replied to Seonid's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Last day turn I suspected Straw of being Ruin, but after Ruin refrained from destroying a second planet, and Straw claimed to be Preservation's vessel, I became less inclined to pursue that lynch. Ergo, while I'd rather lynch Jondesu than either of you two, I believe you are a better lynch than Straw. Jondesu. HH. -

I would quite prefer if my lynch proposal did go somewhere, but if nothing comes of it, I do plan to support the HH lynch before the cycle's end. Side note, I can now offer this game more attention. -

That might be tempting fate or Odium. Are we fishing, or are we phishing? I think the discussion is floundering, but I will cave to your requests and go fishing. Forensic data, you say? Well why didn't you ask before? Let's see here... *fishes out a bent, rusted copper needle* Here! For science! This will make your pigs smart, and knowledgeable, and experienced and all that lot. Has loads of data on it; just jab one of the piggies with it. No strings attached, although it would be awkward if the pig fell under the influence of Odium. (and no, Ev is not a dark alley affiliate, just a blue bloke what buys and sells memories) In the signup thread, there was reference to something that sounded a lot like silent gatherers, or something diagram related at least. I kind of get the feel that Len was telling us that was one of the players in this game. Honestly, I'm a little surprised to see this much analysis on the current writeup while overlooking that one. I kind of wonder if it was intentional, but *shrug. I think things are better when some people approach this like Madagascar does, pretty much. If I had to say who is evil, I'd probably pick Kyne, for assuming that there were "elims", or Aman, for maybe drawing attention away from important things. But that's not really my agenda. I've deliberated and I see no reason not to reveal I'm a neutral. As it is, I'm kind of bothered that Madagascar is saying in PMs that they feel they don't belong on this forum. So, Droughtbringer. -

Hi, yes. I have limited time and I'm kind of a slow reader. I don't really know what's going on, so I can't really say that much yet. Except that if Madagascar dies prematurely I will be cross. Their RP is way too much fun for that. Time to read some more stuff, unless somebody happens to want to give me a quick rundown? -

Randuir claimed to be a vessel??? Oh, huh, he did. That's a lot of vessel claims for this cycle, then. On one hand this gives the shards accountability, on the other hand it gives the various evils useful information. Also, investiture is useful, yes. Possibly a relic of timeline zero, but I've definitely been working under the assumption that siphoning is mostly useful as a means to get shards. I realize that assumption is actually kind of silly, though (and kind of sketchy). Shards get an extra action every cycle, so even if Randuir was using a shardic action very night, it would actually still be useful to have investiture to spend on a second action. What about my vote -

Long Game 43: Under the Banner of Adonalsium
DrakeMarshall replied to Seonid's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Interesting, yes. That changes some things. My reasoning for casting a vote on Straw was the Sand Lord lynch, which would have been extremely beneficial to Ruin. Given that Ruin did not use their power or was blocked, I am slightly less inclined to follow that up today. Incidentally, I agree that the Pyromancer lynch would be a waste. We've already had two days where not much was gained from the lynch, and I do believe Pyromancer's claim to Survival, even if I really don't believe that Pyromancer is nearly as pro-village as he is letting on. This statement feels kind of off to me, though I'm having a hard time defining why. I'm not sure anyone was particularly expecting that Dominion would be placed back into containment. I guess it kind of feels like you are referencing some previous conversation, but not one that happened in the thread. It occurs to me that Survival's shardic win condition is probably compatible with Odium or Ruin's shardic win conditions. I've pretty much always believed you were Survival, because you were so very eager to claim Survival, and quite early in the game no less. I also don't really care to lynch you; and I'm surprised so many people wanted to lynch you when it wouldn't even kill you. But no, I don't really trust you, and probably won't be persuaded to trust you. Still happy to talk about other things though. I've enjoyed chatting with you in this game so far, and definitely hope to see you in future games. As you say, I do not have much to work with, but I will respond if that improves your analysis. This is the read in question, right? I might appreciate it if you explained more what you meant by reactive play. I've been a little distracted, but I would like to think I've taken some initiative in this game. I've tried to make legitimate lynch suggestions every cycle, sometimes in contrast with a prevailing sentiment not to lynch anybody. Granted though, I'm not going out of my way to provoke a reaction from others to gather information (see: LG41). I guess I didn't really like how that turned out. With regard to Ruin blowing up Braize, I honestly did not remember that suggestion. I was paying more attention to the suggestion made for Odium, I suppose. I had recently been relieved of my position of Hoid, and was thinking that shattered shards would be really annoying for Hoid. Still, while I don't really remember it, you are probably right that I did think blowing up Braize was a good idea at the time. Although if I were distancing myself from Ruin, I probably would not have been the first person to make a post raising awareness about the threat Ruin poses, arguably greater than that of Odium. The threat of Ruin may be moot though, as Ruin has declined to destroy another planet last night, and may not be anti-village. Interesting. Well if Mage backs that up I won't dispute it, though this doesn't fully negate my concerns about your alignment. However, I do have a request for you, actually. Could you maybe try investing Randuir? He claimed to have attempted to siphon a shard only to have the action redirected. If he is a vessel, that would imply he was doing it to help a teammate. If he is not a vessel, then he would be that much more likely to use the mistborn role to benefit the village. This whole interaction with Autonomy kind of confuses me. My gut says that there's something more to this story that's still under wraps. But I can't really speculate what unless pyromancer or autonomy happens to tell us more. Lynch-wise, I am bothered that two consecutive days of voting turned out to be a flop. I respect that this game has a storming glorious legacy, and so I respect that we might be reluctant to kill anyone too quickly. But I also want to maintain a lively discussion. Following Straw's claim, I'm not quite as keen on lynching them. I've never been very keen on lynching Pyromancer. And while this is the third consecutive cycle that I've seen rational accusations leveled at HH, I'm still not seeing the case very clearly. I am primarily suspicious of those who played a role in two consecutively failed lynches, as this is an easy way to stifle discussion while simultaneously keeping one's head down. For that reason, after examining the last two days, I am particularly suspicious of Jondesu. Jondesu voted no-lynch the first day, pyro the second, and is currently bandwagonning HH. @Jondesu, I think I would be grateful if you offered further explanation to those votes. -

DrakeMarshall replied to Seonid's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The Sand Lord is undeniably an attractive lynch. It keeps the power of one shard in check, and it gives the people who vote a charge of highly usful action-scanning investiture. However, this seems awfully convenient. Information-wise, a Sand Lord lynch does not benefit the village, and we are running short on information because a no-lynch managed to occur on the first day. More to the point... Doesn't each aspect of Autonomy go into a planet's doc? This suggestion sounds safe and innocuous, but it plays directly into Ruin's hands. It holds the power of a rival shard in check, and it prevents Autonomy's aspects from tracking the movements of Ruin as it destroys planets. Suggesting a Sand Lord lynch would make a great deal of sense for Ruin!Straw. It feels like I may be focusing too much on Ruin. To put my cards on the table, I may even be a little bit jealous because I didn't get Ruin. But I earnestly do not believe that I am going out of my way to talk about Ruin. I am trying to understand Straw's suggestion, and the most logical explanation I can come up with for it is that Straw is Ruin. Straw (@Straw), feel free to respond to these concerns. -

@TheYoungPyromancer most people will want to leave a survivor alone unless they feel their hand is forced. In practice, that means playing survivor is pretty open-ended. There is more than one right way to do it. Just try to have fun with it, I guess. So what brought you to Sanderson Elimination? The story you are currently sticking to, as I understand it, is that you have been reading past SE games before you made an account? (if that is the case, then you probably know more about this community than I do, honestly) Also, you're still typing with two spaces after your periods. I salute you. -

Still deciding on some things. A bit distracted. I'm kind of in an evacuation zone at the moment. Off the top of my head though? Curious about Ruin. Blowing up Braize doesn't make much sense for a villager. Sure, killing is scary, but Braize's killing power is relatively more accessible to regular villagers than anyone else. It doesn't really seem to make sense for Hoid or Khriss, since I reckon they'd kill somebody with it. The way I see it, the only solid reason to blow up a random planet is if the vessel fully intends to be converted by Ruin and is exercising their power in anticipation of that fact. I understand why Ruin would do this. Heck, I'll even admit that there's a pretty storming high chance that I'd do the same thing in Ruin's place. But I'm bringing this up because I don't think Ruin is serving the village win con. Anyways, back in a few. -
Mid-Range Game 28: Knives in the Dark

An overdressed stranger walked purposefully towards the gates of Kharbranth. City of Bells. The stranger remembered this place, every inch of it, down to the ridges of crem on the city wall. Had seen it once through a hundred pairs of eyes. His shadow fell on a group of guards at the gate, though the sun was setting behind them. He extended a gloved hand to the watch captain, offering a small envelope. "The name's Ev," the stranger spoke, shaking the captain's hand. "Spending some time in Kharbranth for some, ah, scholarly work." The guardsman gave the stranger a funny look, but, after a brief perusal of the envelope's contents, he was admitted. A small, dark-feathered bird soared down from the wall, following lazily in his wake. I suppose I can participate in this after all. -

Lord Prelan Nohadon! As per the dueling codes of 1777, sections XV and XVI, "the challenged has the right to choose his own weapon, unless the challenger gives his honor he is no swordsman; after which, however, he can decline any second species of weapon proposed by the challenged. The challenged chooses his ground, the challenger chooses his distance, the seconds fix the time and terms of firing." Thus, it is the right of the challenged to choose the location for duelling, though it is your right as challenger to position yourself on said location before the duel commences. As the Lord Prelan of a canton rich in the traditions of combat, I am sure you understand the importance of dueling codes. I would further like to clarify the terms of this duel. For one, let us stipulate that both parties shall name the prize they would exact from the other, should they be victorious. The duel will not commence until both parties agree on the prize named by the other party. Let us also stipulate that the duel shall continue until one party yields, is incapacitated, or is killed. In addition to the restrictions you have already outlined, the use of type IV awakened entities will be forbidden. Lets us finally stipulate that an odd number of impartial moderators must preside over the duel, no fewer than one. Are these amendments and clarifications to the terms of the duel generally acceptable? -

Yeah. I had to take a call, but I'm pretty much caught up on this cycle. I kind of wish there had been a lynch, and I might have changed my vote to HH to prevent a no-lynch had I been paying attention towards the end. But that did not happen. I suppose removing somebody from this excellent game early would be a shame, but it does put a damper on discussion. I shall endeavor to make extra good analysis tomorrow to compensate for this. Also, I kind of want to find something interesting to do with my RP character. Not sure what yet, though. -

Wow. That was literally 100+ new posts to read through. Stormfather, you guys are prolific. I echo Steeldancers remark about not showing up on people's reads I echo Orlok's point about how we need to focus primarily on Hoid/Khriss. But I also think Odium's win condition is probably not compatible with the village win condition, and is thus a completely legitimate threat to discuss as well. Just not something to tunnel on. I think a no-lynch is undesirable. I think lynching fifth is almost as undesirable as a no-lynch. I think I believe Pyromancer's claim, because I am guessing this is what he intended to tell me in that PM he wanted. What really seals it for me is how Pyromancer was almost eager to deploy his "ace-in-the-hole." Normally, I would expeditiously lynch somebody who claimed survivor to dodge the lynch, but Pyromancer was literally going out of his way to make this claim, which makes me more inclined to trust it, because I chalk that up to being genuinely excited about having a shard. @TheYoungPyromancer I think you are maybe overestimating the odds that you are attacked. Village!Odium might choose to attack you, just to be safe in case you are Hoid/Khriss pretending to be Survival, but I don't think it's a given. It depends mostly on whether Odium's vessel believes your claim. Another thought. If Pyromancer took a charge of Odium, that puts us at 3 people claiming to have taken a charge of Odium. That is the requisite amount to release a shard. While it is possible for more than these three to have taken charges from Odium, that does make me wonder if one of them lied about not recieving the shard. But about that, I would like to note that Odium is not the only dangerous shard. If I had to guess, I would speculate that Ruin's altered win condition would be to destroy all of the planets, and that doing this would end the game with Ruin winning and everybody else losing. If my speculation is correct, Ruin is an equal, or arguably greater threat than Odium. ...and clearly, it is difficult to follow my own advice and not tunnel on shards. My last three paragraphs were all about shards. I can see the appeal, shards are fun. I hope I can get one next turn I need to do a more comprehensive analysis, but also I was travelling for the bulk of the day which precluded that. This cycle doesn't have that much time left, and I don't particularly want any of the lynches that are currently on the table. Nor do I want a no-lynch. I believe casting votes and having a lynch every cycle is pretty important (see QF30). Arinian, could you please clarify your reasons for promoting no-lynch? -

Nine is Odium’s number! Coincidence? (I’ll probably have a more intelligent response to all this in a few, bit busy at the moment) Agreed, for the most part. But it occurs to me that shattering all the shards might harm the village if meeting this condition ended the game. ( @Seonid can corrupted vessels result in new end-of-game conditions?) -

Odium, Ruin, Autonomy. Free. Everen blinked. Perfect memory could be a real drawback, sometimes. There were many things he could have felt, but mostly Everen was simply tired. "Things are getting dire, it seems," he said, speaking absentmindedly to Cynthia. The Aviar cocked her head. "All the nasty bits of Adolnasium just got loosed on the cosmere." He stuck an index finger into his neck, flesh flowing and reshaping as he fished out a copper needle. Some of Silverlight's residents stared at him, or crossed to the other side of the street to avoid him. Others walked by without giving him a second glance, either familiar with the Siah, or, more likely, desensitized to the multitude of oddities in the cosmere. He repeated the process, removing three needles in total of varying sizes. "There," he sighed, more relieved than he should have been. The memories were gone. He would need them, later. For now, it was far more peaceful to not remember what sort of beings were free of containment. -

Correct in all regards. Additionally, Khriss would be gaining access to a kill, and would be denying everybody else the ability to divest shards from planets without a lynch vote. I do definitely agree that Khriss would have reasons to want Ruin. That shard would be scarily useful to Khriss. I was interested to know your reasoning though, because I'm pretty sure this wouldn't have occured to me had I not thought I was Hoid at the time, considering which shards I wanted to prioritize and which ones Khriss might prioritize. I am also a little curious because it does not seem intuitive to me that Hoid or Khriss would forgo their conversion ability, so I wonder what lead you towards that conclusion. I don't really disagree with any of your conjecture, I just wonder if it is oddly specific, or something like that.
