  1. I was scanned as Jeskeri. I can prove I have a pendant by passing it or using it tonight, thus accounting for the scan. I guess theoretically I could be a Jeskeri with a Jeskeri pendant, but this is pretty unlikely for balancd reasons, and anyhow after passing the pendant it will be possible to accurately scan me.
  2. I’m not sure I agree with your risk/reward assessment, but I guess I’m flattered nonetheless? EDIT: To clarify, while you are probably right that it would be more embarassing to spare me if I were an elim... In terms of actual gain or loss to the village, a mislynch is very probably a steeper price to pay than putting off an elim’s death by one cyce.
  3. I’m not going to feel very bad about that unless you want to claim you didn’t slant your accusation. Are you implying that you are so trusted that there is nothing that would possibly make you more trusted? With that level of sass, I guess honesty in SE is a novelty Dead on target. If I were good or evil, I’d probably say this either way. But I am actually good, and I can prove it, and it costs you very little to do so: Unless you know something that I do not, this is false. Even if I were evil, killing me wouldn’t prevent somebody else from making a kill tonight, and I kind of doubt there’d be only two elims. I can respect a reluctance to change your mind, but I am willing and able to prove this, and in light of that fact killing me without giving me the chance would be kind of silly. Give me the opportunity and I swear I can prove my alignment.
  4. Well. That's kind of awkward. I don't really expect you to believe me, given the apparent situation. But with all due respect, I had virtually no interest in using my pendant on your fictional suspect. I don't feel very bad in saying that owning two items is a pretty lousy reason to be looking for somebody with a pendant, because apparently that story was a lie anyway. Why I say you probably won't believe me is that I didn't reveal I had a pendant, which is sort of awkward now, given the situation. But why exactly would I tell you I had a pendant if I didn't intend to use it as you requested? Kind of unnecessary to tip my hand to somebody I don't completely trust, beyond that I'm still pretty sure you aren't Derethi. I am an Arelish Citizen. I started the game with a Poison Vial and a Jeskeri Pendant. If you are willing to let me prove it, I can confirm that I possess both of these items, by passing them to whomever you like, or using them on whomever you like. You don't like my playstyle? Kind of rude, but I should point you to the bit where I said I don't have a lot of time. Also, I don't think you can reasonably expect people to forget AG3 in a hurry. And that's about all I have to say. You can let me prove I actually do have a pendant, which probably won't cost you much unless there's something I'm missing, or you can kill me now, which would be kind of bothersome, but at least I get free time. Your call; whatever you want to do, I have things I need to go to right now so bye.
  5. I'm feeling a little lost. I'm sad to hear Joe is taking a hiatus from SE. At least we had a fun bout of RP at the start of this game. I really, really hope that someday, we will get the opportunity to show you a good welcome as a returning player But I am sad to see you leaving Good luck. I am slightly wary of this situation (and Wilson surviving an attack slightly magnifies my paranoia), particularly since Joe's self-vote does not strike me as an elim behavior. But I also think that this is too early in the game for elim!Wilson to be asking for this kind of leap of faith. Also, Pyro is in on whatever this is, and I mostly trust Pyro (plus, if this were an elim ploy, they'd be less likely to put two people on the line for it). So I'm reasonably confident that Wilson and Pyro are not pulling some kind of trick as elims, and I'm reasonably confident that they both have good judgement. So, for now, I will defer to Wilson and Pyro's insight on this, with the understanding that an explanation will be forthcoming soon.
  6. Interesting. Two thoughts before I depart: Only a single convert. Either no Odiv yet, or the Odiv is holding back to create uncertainty about when they were sworn. Or Odiv had a different action they wanted to take, maybe but less likely. Wilson attacked and protected. Assuming this isn't an AG3 reenactment, I wonder if the elims had any particular reason to target Wilson beyond her being known as a skilled player?
  7. MR24 was a reckoner's blackout game that was nearly free-for-all. Compared to LG26 (of which my knowledge is rather limited), I would say MR24 was significantly less complicated and probably better balanced. I for one thought it was a fun game to play through. Might be a possible source of inspiration for you.
  8. He said he believed Arin was most likely to be an elim, but then randomly voted Devotary one paragraph later. I'm kind of wary of people whose stated beliefs and actions don't line up. In addition, the guess that a Jeskeri was taken by the Shaod was a bit out there, yep. I concur that Seonid's second vote is more suspect than Dalinar's first one, though. I appreciate your clarification. It's totally fair to speculate at role distributions, so long as you don't hold on too tightly to them. I haven't lately been able to devote my time to this game, and if I died in this it would free me of a time commitment. If you are decided on this, I'll accept that without complaint, though I'd request to be pendanted instead of lynched to not waste a cycle of lynch discussion. However, as you can hopefully see, I have been trying to put more into this game, so I will try to offer a concise answer to this and prove to you that I am village. You may be mistaken about my ignoring the possibility of pendants; I did actually discuss the unreliability of scans in a different post, that you did not quote. Pendants can fudge scan results; that's one of the reasons that traditional "cop" mindsets are unproductive. But Hero would have to be a massive troll to give Korathi pendants to the entire Jeskeri faction (though I cede that shard GMs can definitely be trolls), so I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that scans would still be useful to some degree (especially since villagers with Jeskeri pendants are confirmable, and also in retrospect since one elim with a Korathi pendant is now out of the picture). If scans did not pose a worthwhile threat to the elims, then why put Aman in the game as a village scanner? Personally I might be just a bit wary of anybody who said scans should be discounted. Echoing what is clearly said in the rules and warning that scans are unreliable seems like it might be an easy way to get village points while at the same time discredit scans that could potentially still catch elims. About the priest, even if the Gyorn did have a pendant, the Odiv and all the converts could still be scanned, which would still give the Jeskeri a significant edge over the Derethi. I get the sense that the two evil factions are meant to be well balanced with each other, which is why I am so skeptical that either side would possess such a decisive advantage. Finally about wondering why you didn't vote for Araris: I am wary of people who say one thing and then don't act on it. From your focus on analysis yesterday, I've decided you probably aren't evil, but I'd still maintain that declaring somebody is an elim and then not voting on them is behavior that deserved scrutiny. Interesting. I kind of remember wondering if this was what Aman had asked you to do. But Araris' comment sort of made me think the elims had at least considered poisoning Aman, and I doubt they would have done Aman the courtesy of informing him who did it. That means the elims probably didn't poison Aman, and thus they would have thought he might have legitimately been taken by the shaod. So that lends much more credence to the prediction that there is a Jeskeri Elantrian in play. If on the other hand they did mean to poison Aman, that would either mean that Pyro is evil (for the record I don't get the vibe that he is) or that Aman got poisoned twice. @Herowannabe would there be any sort of indication if somebody got poisoned twice? If yesterday is an indication, it would be good if more people shared their opinions on things. This is the best I can do to encourage that: @Mraize, thoughts on why the elims would kill Aman when they did? @Devotary of Spontaneity, thoughts on Seonid's vote on you? @Seonid, thoughts on the same? @TheMightyLopen, what do you make of the plethora of princes in play? @little wilson, now that Aman's poisoner is revealed as pyro, could you share the details on why you read village on them? @Dalinar Kholin, what do you think the Gyorn's strategy would be right now? Also why do you believe an elim was be taken by the shaod on the cycle Aman died? @Steeldancer, thoughts on role or item distribution for the elim team? @Straw, who do you think Gyorn might pick for Odiv?
  9. Random thoughts as I read through last cycle: -I'm wasn't entirely sold on Lopen's defense last last turn, but his turn towards analysis last turn doesn't give the vibe of an elim reaction. It sort of reminds me of how Lopen dealt with a false accusation in LG30. -Still pretty sure Len is not Derethi. -Still a neutral read on Devotary despite reading a fair bit from them. -Curious as to who used a pendant the previous night. I wouldn't think that claiming would be dangerous because the item is only single-use. -Ambivalent about the possibility of a Jeskeri Elantrian. I don't think there necessarily has to be one like people are saying, and I'm reluctant to lynch an Elantrian without a pretty good reason, but *shrug it would explain the timing of the attack on Aman. -Since pendant use is public, Joe's claiming to have used a Korathi pendant is very probably truthful. However, if an elim/gyorn figured that there were no more priests, and they had a Korathi pendant on hand, this would probably be the most effective way to use it, so this doesn't reveal as much about alignment as I would like. -Dalinar's post at the top of page 3 felt a little wierd to me. -If there is a Jeskeri Elantrian, Devotary's analysis that either Arinian or an Elantrian is probably Jeskeri reads pretty village. If there isn't, then it could be read as an attempt to direct the lynches someplace where they will be much less useful. -Overall, I'm sort of against lynching Elantrians, since even if one of them was an elim that'd be 1 in 4, and an Elantrian lynch gives very little information. That said, lynching Arinian is more understandable since apparently he told somebody he self-poisoned? -Now that Len mentions it, I sort of agree that Seonid's doublepoke is odd, simply because Devotary really had been contributing more than most players that cycle. I could maybe see this as being similar to Steel's attempt to rouse people into voting, but I'm still wary of Seonid. -Not a very active day cycle. I guess I wasn't the only person who had stuff going on. -Also, my vote got prince'd. Was that you Kidpen (weren't you the one who claimed prince? don't really remember) -I have a habit of neglecting RP the later I get into a game. I'd like to break this habit soon.
  10. Hm. Point. Personally, I find it hard to keep track of everyone, and I guess subconsciously I identify "new players" by a low content count. But that's not a very good marker, for a great many reasons. Would it be sensible to have some way to identify new players? Regardless, I reckon we all ought to try a little bit harder to welcome returning players, yep. It's certainly an honest mistake to treat a returning player like a regular player, but so long as we are all intentional in how we deal with this, future instances of the issue should not be very difficult to prevent.
  11. RIP it's night again and I failed to show up and contribute >_> This is what happens when I practically don't sleep to finish a paper. Well, I'll try to take stock of the situation.
  12. If I had to cast a vote right this moment, I'd probably follow the lead of a pretty reasonable-sounding accusation, and vote for you. But I'd really rather take the time to reach my own conclusions, and I will not have time to do that properly until next turn. I think it's in everybody's interests if I chime in only once I've actually read your defense carefully.
  13. Feels too excited. Additionally, he'd the first to mention at this point that Aman targeted Araris. Everyone else before him had been wondering who Aman targeted. Now, the cultists aren't the only people who would've known that Aman likely targeted Araris, and I believe a village Lopen would've known as well, but this post feels like he's intentionally trying to ingratiate himself to the village by offering this information and clearly a Jeskeri would never do such a thing to their own teammate. [truncated] Thoughts? Still undecided on the rest of your case, but I agree that this post by Lopen feels wrong. Too excited, as you say. Also, if Lopen was convinced that Araris was a cultist, why not vote on it? Why wait to see if the lynch gains momentum? I was meaning to call Lopen on this in an analysis post yesterday, but I was preoccupied with other stuff IRL. You can multiquote from one thread and it will carry over if you go to a different thread.
  14. I’m not saying I don’t believe you, but I just want to point out that (assuming I read the rules right) the same results could theoretically be produced using a pass-phrase.
  15. I generally agree with this. But of the two options Stink is posing, I'd say "follow the cop" strategy isn't really going to work here, because Aman can only scan Elantrians, plus Jeskeri/Korathi pendants make scans unreliable, plus the JinDo could only delay Aman's death if the elims wanted him dead (and not even that, if the elims have a Jeskeri pendant). A multitude of game mechanics are stacked to punish "follow the cop" strategy. I trust that Aman believes withholding his scan target is in the interests of the village win con, and I generally trust Aman's judgement. I don't really mind if he chooses to withhold stuff. But I think it's a bit excessive to have 3 people in place to relay information that isn't even being disclosed in the first place. The only advantage we might reap from this is that if the elims happen to have a Seon, then they would either have to PM Aman or keep the Seon a secret. Not really worth giving up all the village PM resources over, imo.
  16. Hmm do you know of any good card games that can take an arbitrary number of players?
  17. If the Gyorn were a priest, and they found a Cultist, they probably wouldn't out that Cultist, they'd more likely convert and swear the Cultist as an Odiv. And then out the rest of the Cultist's team, and gain access to the Jeskeri kill to use against non-converts. If the Jeskeri had a priest, they could locate the Gyorn/Odiv twice as quickly as they otherwise might, as well as identifying converts, becoming near twice as effectve against the Derethi faction. One well-placed kill would effectively cripple the Derethi. Either option sounds kind of overpowered for the faction in question, imo. Personally, I somewhat doubt we have an evil priest in play.
  18. I salute you for choosing that as a name I’ve been keeping track of this game’s signups, because everybody’s name choices are clever, and this one made me smile. (Although I can think of at least five reasons you don’t need to worry about posing a threat to the shard with the inclusion of the “P”)
  19. Correct me if I’m wrong, but if the Gyorn converted last night, then they can’t have sworn an Odiv already, right? They converted an Elantrian though? Interesting. I think I see the rationale for that. Elantrians are relatively less likely to be lynched or killed (doubly so if they are Hoed). And the Gyorn would defintely prefer that lynches/kills land on people who aren’t converted yet. I am kind of impressed by that play, especially since it was presumably devised by a single player, instead of a doc of players. Whoever the Gyorn is, they’re clever. Although I find it kind of entertaining that Shu-Dereth is evangelizing to the Elantrians, given the Derethi stance towards Elantris in the books.
  20. You are Aladdin, yes? I wonder if Ateshao has an oil lamp somewhere in his tinker's cart...
  21. Hello. Is anybody in the mood for RP on this fine day? Mostly finished playing catch-up. But yesterday, Aman said he was going to use a Jeskeri pendant on Araris. The writeup confirms that a Jeskeri pendant was indeed used... But Araris is still alive, and the writeup strongly hints that Bort was the elim kill. Now, unless I am missing something pretty significant in the rules, or Aman informs a contact via PM that they changed their mind targeted somebody other than Araris... I think I know what my vote will be doing for the day. @Araris Valerian I feel a somewhat vindicated in thinking Araris' comment on D1 about saving villagers was odd. I'm also a bit confused that the elims didn't just attack Aman, in light of how JinDo works. I'd say the elims didn't feel threatened by Aman... Except that doesn't make sense because it looks a bit like Aman just caught one of them. EDIT: I was reading through last night, and this remark stuck out to me: The turn after this is said, Aman is apparently taken by the Shaod? Might be a coincidence, but... If the elims poisoned Aman to get him out of the way, it would explain why he wasn't attacked.
  22. Ah. Hm. Well thank you; I think I understand now.
  23. Right, I'm up to speed on tonight. With the understanding that I may be hearing things through the lense of another player's perception, would somebody be so kind as to give me a quick rundown as to what exactly happened at the end of last turn? I still feel a bit lost and I'd be very grateful for a cursory explanation. . . . Ateshao staggered through the streets of Kae, thoroughly intoxicated. He squinted in the darkness. The spasms in his eyes were beginning to grow less intense. Or perhaps he was merely growing accustomed to them. Or perhaps the alchohol was mitigating the effect of the garha-potion mixture. Regardless, he could finally see well enough to retrace his steps. It was still disorienting, to see the world mainly through unpredictable bursts of extreme clarity. Frenetic, like flashes of illumination off a string of fireworks on the day of Reod. His business tonight was twofold: first, to retrieve his abandoned cart, and second, to track down that alchemist to offer some feedback. Likely, the two would coincide, unless Fenot had up and left. Idly, Ateshao wondered what became of Lord Arehe-but-call-me-Sahin. Right decent fellow, that one. Hopefully nobody robbed the man while he was passed out on the floor. Friendship aside, it would be rather awkward if Ateshao were implicated in something like that. Laboriously, he moved in a straight line down the walkway, until his eyes fell upon his terminally overloaded cart, and besides it, Fenot's table of potions. "Hey!!" Ateshao shouted out with the belligerence of the inebriated. "Rulo!! Yer shtormin' domi-curshed poshions don' work! Shee what ish done to me eyesh?!" He gestured to his eyes, which were crossed inward, in case Fenot had not seen them. "You tryin' to poishon me?!"
  24. Oops I was planning on getting back before rollover.
