Hurt and Heal Non-Cosmere Characters

Hm... from sheer curiosity, I think one of possible combinations for me would be A. Gold and F. Aluminum. Then I'd love to experiment with how changing my "level" of Identity changes my gold shadows. Perhaps I could see several gold shadows when storing, or "take on" another gold shadow when tapping Identity? Probably not very useful in a long run, but fascinating for experimentation. For something more practical, I think I'd take Bronze compounding. Sensing other magic users could certainly be useful, but I admit I'm more interested in the prospect of compounding wakefulness - having to only sleep something like one hour a day would certainly be useful.

Regarding the first question, I believe Brandon has said that each book will have its flashback character and its Radiant order, but one doesn't necessarily equate the other, so it could be that Shalash's book is the "Dustbringers' book" the same way Shallan's is "Lightweavers' book". Or Shalash could become a Dustbringer, which is, if I remember correctly, also a possibility raised on this forum sometimes. As for sixteen, Secret History implies that 16 metals were based on 16 Shards of Adonalsium ("divine number"), but apparently Tanavast didn't feel beholden to that the same way Leras did, so no, there are ten orders.

I've got transcription of the first thirty six minutes if somebody's interested. It's mostly what Yata said, writing tips and how Cosmere came to be in his head, though there's a funny tidbit about where the concept of Hoid came from. I wonder if this will work... DragonCon 2016 transcription.txt

Oh, that's a mistake on my part. I remembered the piece about moving effortlessly through water and forgot about the red, so I assumed Edgedancer.

I am aware of this, it's just... it's very likely we'll get a Shardblade coming back to life, and there's been some groundwork laid down with Adolin. We know his Plate and Blade are of matching order, his Blade is Edgedancer (AKA healing powers), and he talks to it. While I agree that it's bizarre that so many Kholins are radiants, at this point, if it was anybody else who'd awaken their Shardblade, it would be pretty disappointing.

Hm, while I'd agree with @bleeder's sentiment, it would be quite cool to see, for example, Adolin bringing his Blade back to life... ah, well. We'll see. I admit I'm not sold on the idea that "tower, crown and the spear" mean a Highprince of War. A spear doesn't seem to me like the symbol of a Highprince. A spear is a lowborn weapon, a Darkeyes weapon. A Lighteyed weapon is a bow, or a hammer or, above all, a sword. Why would a spear be symbol for a position that can, by its definition, be only given to an extremely high-tier Lighteyes?

I never really liked Megan, though I can't for the life of mine explain why. Something just irks me about her. Anyways, hurt her and heal Stephen. 2. Megan-5 3. Cody--16 9. Joel--25 10. Melody--25 17. Stephen Leeds--29 -

Hm, perhaps. I'm just kind of bothered about the phrasing of the whole thing. "He must pick it up, the fallen title! The tower, the crown and the spear" Seems to me like all three of those things are the title somehow. Perhaps it's about glyphs? Perhaps if you string together glyphs for Tower, Crown and Spear, you'll end up with a pickable title. Or (stupid idea shall commence now), the "fallen title" is someone who must pick up those three ("He must pick it up, the storming fool!"). A lighteyes who loses his nobility somehow. Maybe - and now I'm far into tinfoil hat territory - this refers to Adolin who falls from grace and has to reclaim his title (tower and crown) and grab ahold of some spear in a moment of epicness that I doubt will come.

Perhaps this refers to someone saving Kaladin? Granted, Kaladin has both the Crown and the Tower on his uniform, but the spear doesn't seem to me like something he has to pick up; perhaps the combination of Crown/Tower/Spear means Kaladin and he's the one in need of assistance. But what would the title be? I mean, what does "the fallen title" refer to? The Knight Radiant? Maybe the entire rattle refers to the moment in WoR when Kaladin has to decide whether he wants to help Elhokar and thus "pick up the fallen title" of a true Knight Radiant?

I see what the problem is, I had a similar one for a while after marathoning all of Sanderson for the first time. I realized I just had to stop reading Sanderson for a while; in time, the feeling of other works' inadequacy will fade Really, I don't always look for epicness in books; there are some fascinating reads that don't really have that epic feeling, yet are very satisfying. And I also don't often look for great quality. I'm an avid reader of Horus Heresy novels, and even the most rabid fan will tell you that it's mostly airport novel-level fare (it is epic though - the first battle scene of the series has an advancing line of supersoldiers two miles long...). You have to lower your standards a bit; not everything you'll read will be excellent and epic, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. Likewise, there are people who don't like the scope of epic books, preferring smaller, self-contained narratives. To each their own. It also helps if, as Brightness Enna said, you switch genres or writing styles a bit, so that you won't find yourself comparing stuff to what you've read previously. For recommendations, have you perhaps read A Bridge of Birds and its sequels? Writing style is very different from Sanderson's - far more poetic, for one - but all three novels are excellent.
