Are you on a standard QWERTY keyboard, or are you using a non-standard /multi-lingual keyboard? There might be some confustion because on a standard QWERTY keyboard the ' key (next to Enter/Return) is standard as the straight single quote - and an editor has to jump through some hoops to even find the curly quote (single or double). However, it sounds like your keyboard has the curly quote as its default - or has a key for both versions and you just habitually use the other key. @Chaos or another admin might be able to redirect both spellings to the same page, but you can also use the [[T'Telir|T’Telir]] construction if you want to display T’Telir but link to T'Telir.

What I normally do is start with what might link to the new page. For example, on the Idrian page - under Economics - it mentions petitioning the king for relief funds. You could add a sentence or two on how some peasants living far from Bevalis feel forced to emigrate to Hallendren to work because their families might not survive the weeks it would take to travel to Bevalis to petition the crown. You can then follow that by mentioning Stormrunning as one high-risk occupation the immigrant Idrians will pursue (use the [[Stormrunner|stormrunning]] format if you use that conjugation but want to retain "Stormrunner" as the page name). This link will now appear red when you save the page and will take you to a blank space where you can create the [[Stormrunner]] page.

Right - because laymen don't realize there is a difference between "Damascus pattern" and "Damascus steel" - where a pattern is any two or more steel variants layered in a such a way as to produce patterns - however a Damascus steel is smelted and forged from hypereutectoid crucible steel. Links: Damascus Steel Wootz Steel (Hypereutectoid) Crucible steel Pattern Steel Or, you could just watch a few episodes of "Forged in Fire" (any given episode probably has a 1 in 3 chance of features Damascus patterns) There are even episodes about specific techniques and/or patterns, like Canister, Bar, Ladder, Raindrop, etc. Whether the Spike is "one thing" or not - the different metals would likely need to be harvested from different bind points, so you still can't harvest two metals from one bind point (even if they share a quadrant). Also - more about alloys than pattern forging, but here's a WoB:

Kind of like @Jofwu's Herald Wheel? Except with the Surges on the inner ring instead of the Herald Portaits? Or do you plan to ahve all of the Glyphs oriented to the image bottom instead of the center of the concentric circles?

I can't say for certain what their reasoning was, but I would like to note: ' is a normal Wiki character, while ’ is what is called an Escape Character (meaning it cannot be used in URLs and is represented by a code instead) T'Telir Page: https://coppermind.net/wiki/T'Telir - while, with the other apostrophe, it would look like this: T’Telir Page: https://coppermind.net/wiki/T%27Telir You can access the extended character map from the WIki Editor itself - right at the top (see picture below)

I'm reading The Stormlight Archive for the first time
Treamayne replied to Amira's topic in Stormlight Archive
You are not alone in your analysis. Thus starts the "Shallan shuffle". . . (Minor Spoilers) So, to the best of my knowledge, this kind of chapter is deliberate (on Sanderson's part) because he is building toward something - but not all of us enjoyed that journey. Please don't feel bad about your own reactions to that journey. -
I'm reading The Stormlight Archive for the first time
Treamayne replied to Amira's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah, Venli. . . Like Szeth, in WoK, you should get a Venli Interlude in each section - so more to come. I don't know if you really want to know. Spoilers nested in less spoilers: -
I was not discounting that his head "exploded" (though I think term is loaded*). I'm saying that curvature of objects and tnsile strength matter. It's why cracking an egg from the rounded edges is harder than cracking from the sides where the curvature is less. So, when breaking a skull open, going through the nose, orbital sockets and brain to strike the skull from the inside had a more pronounced (and visual) effect than if she had struck at the forehead, crown or temples - which I think would have been less visually gory (if still quite lethal) and far more damaging to Vin. She essentially had brain pudding as a padding for her own skull by the time her strike hit something hard enough to do her real damage. A Pewter-only kick to armor (much less shardplate) has none of those benefits (soft tissue, padding, etc.). *By loaded, I mean it will be different for different people - but I doubt it would have been like a grenade, or even a breach charge. More like all the heavy stuff knocked away a few inches to a foot, and all the liquid and soft tissue sprayed out. After all, the description of Elend was blood on his uniform, not gobs of brain matter or skull shrapnel hitting him

Wins the hardness battle, but did not walk away. Remember she was concussed, lost conciousness and needed significant healing time (though she also had other injuries). Also note, it wasn't a "true" headbutt (skull to skull) but her forehead into the Thug's face (significantly less bone, and much more soft tissue) WoA Ch 38 Nope Nope. Petwer plus duralumin might do many things, but replicating the force of many times the acceleration of gravity isn't one of them (though they don't say how many lashings he used - Ch 57 "Lashed himself that direction many times in quick succession. As many as he dared." ) Now - Steel + Iron + Pewter + Durlumin - that might replicate Kal's stunt, and the Allomancer is likely to walk away Assuming you aren't trying to push the Plate itself (which may be difficult to impossible - though Duralumin might manage it) you would need to be pushing on something heavy behind you while also pulling on something heavy on the other side of the Shardbearer - the doubled force of push/pull with duralumin might generate enough force to be a similar strike (steel alone was shown to throw multiple horses) and, theoretically Pewter might be enough to keep your bones intact from the strike - though probably still damaged (especially soft tissue, ligaments and tendons).

Remember "reconciliation" is Shallan's term, from rumors about Jasnah, and before she learns anything about her. Jasnah herself explains this later Jasnah's experience with devoteries is that they either try to convert her or steal the Soulcaster from the heretic (or both). Yes, many confirmations, but the most direct came from the end of WoR: I don't think it is ever discussed agiain, but it was heavily implied to be the Double Eye (a pattern of lines, circles and glyphs forming a chart at the entrance of a place named after the Herald Pailiah). Thanks to the amount of time since the recreance, most would probably not recognize Radiant and Surge glyphs anymore. . . Yes, it is a known Lightweaver Resonance. WoBs:

Agreed, whatever Voidspren that grants Envoyform was forced to agree (or made incapable of disagreement).
-
Also, based on traditional Sanderson wiggle-room, Venli should count as an "answer" to this (since it does not specify Nahel Bond or Radiant Spren in the question or answer) Because she is bonded to the Voidspren that gives her EnvoyForm as well as Timbre, her Radiant Spren that makes her a Willshaper.

I would say "possible, not probable" - at least in the "two streams of polarized energy" version. WoB: So, the fact that the Spirits always become a two-part fabrial in Yumi's sections and become two energy streams as Hion in Painter's world seems tied to Virtuosity. We already know Spren become a single Fabrial (such as Soulcasters - the ancient version of a fabrial), not a duality. So, if they could manifest directly as power I doubt it would be two lines unless you did something like how Spren are divided in Modern Fabrial - and I'm still not sure that would work. That said, they don't need to become lines of power on a world with Lights - whereas Komashi needed Hion to have a power source for technological advancement.

Unpopular Brandon Sanderson Opinions
Treamayne replied to not an Evil Librarian's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Having grown up with a mentally and emotionally abusive father, I too find Lirin to be one of the worst villains characters in the series. I've hated him since WoK and the feeling only grew with each scene he appears. What's worse is that nobody (including Kaladin - though it should not fall to him) calls him on it. I would not be surprised to find the events at the climax of RoW to be a step forward that only leads to two steps backward in SA5. My own father is 20 years dead, and my mother is still working through the trauma he caused her. So, while I think many of the traumas and neuro-divergencies are well portrayed in the series - I find the representation of this kind of trauma to be largely ignored or written off as Kaladin's depression (and while the trauma likely reinforces the depression - they are different things requiring different coping skills and mechanisms). -
Question about "Double posting"
Treamayne replied to FellowshipOfTheTables's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
I think it depends on how much time has passed - if it is the same day or within a day or two, an edit will probably serve better. If you are unflamiliar with the tools to do so, this may help: -
Yes, Koloss-blooded have a gray tinge until they receive their spikes (should they choose to do so). AoL:

@FellowshipOfTheTables - sorry to derail your thread train I didn't say it was the physical sun - I said I thought it was a cognitive representation of the sun (as in beings - human or other - expect a sun so their shadesmar represents the distant beyond as a sun-like unmoving point in the sky). I agree each star has it's own Shadesmar. No, that's a metaphor (you missed part of the quote): These are the parts I was thinking of: If the visible representation of the Sun in Shadesmar were actually the SR or Beyond, it should be visible everywhere in Shadesmar, not just at the planet, since the SR and Beyond also Connect everywhere, including the space between planets and solar systems. Kelsier sees the sun fade as he penetrates the "island" of Lake Luthadel's cognitive aspect, and it fades and is left behind once he enters the space between worlds at the edge of Scadrial's Shadesmar. So, not stated, only implied and I'm sorry I overstated. It may not matter, but please note that the Sun in Scadrial's Shadesmar looks different than the one in Roshar's Shadesmar (or at least the sky around them - ash-covered small distant sun on one, sun framed by very straight road-like clouds in the other). We can't tell if there is a size difference based on the descriptions given.

Will Roshar Continents Look Different in The Future?
Treamayne replied to Scars of Hathsin's topic in Stormlight Archive
To me, the real question is if Origin moves with it (i.e. a defined distance from the continental coasts, or a specific geographic coordinate) -
I was rash, it might not have been this specific thread. On search I found at least five threads on Platespren speculations. Sorry something you felt strongly didn't pan out. While I feel I understood what led to the conclusion about Starspren, I have to admit I am glad it was not them as it never made sense to me based on the known primary factors. I'm sorry I forgot my color code to show I mostly meant the post in jest. The "they were perfect" just seemed too much a straight line to pass up. . .

Please do not double post. If you need to add information, simply edit the post. If you need to quote more than one source, please use the multi-quote tool, or add additional quotes while editing. If you are unfamiliar with any of these tools, this may help:

It is the Cognitive Aspect of the Sun and since it is a representation if the Idea of Sun it does not move. Also shadows point toward the sun instead of away. We do not yet know why (though theories abound). Note - the Axies the Collector interlude shows that the Siah Amians are often considered evil because their shadow in the Physical Realm is like Shadows in Shadesmar (likely because his species is in both at the same time - or something similar). There are two (non-exclusive) theories (that I know of) That a normal Ardent using a Fabrial would need that information (she was playing a part) That she needed to know how dangerous an equal amount of smoke would become or possibly just deciding which essense to soulcast it into - and due to the mass she determined Smoke was the safest option Probably some combination between the two. It would be awesome if when we finally get to Jasnah's flashback book we get to see this scene from her POV (like the deleted Jasnah scene from WoR). Everyone is. We are supposed to be. Even Shallan is confused about Shallan's timeline (as of RoW) This is slightly easier to extrapolate, but by-no-means definitive. My take, impled by WoK and WoR, was that after the events in the flashback you are referencing (if you mean her father) she was still conditioned to obeying orders and not making "waves" - until she started travelling and had no siblings or parents to make decisions for her and realized she had more will than she knew (to that point). Mostly I think that line is just there as foreshadowing for her flashbacks in WoR.

Except for all of the myriad reasons stated previously in this thread about why Starspren didn't fit at all (except the nebulous Highspren-Sky-Star connection). Not that I was any closer when I thought it would be ConcentrationSpren.
