I think you may be onto something here. Edit: Actually the more I think about it, the more and more I'm convinced. I mean what do we know of the Listener gods? They are the unmade. After the Listeners escaped them, where did they go? We know at least some of the Unmade started working on humans, i.e. the Thrill. So really the enemy is a shifting thing. Not Parshendi, not human, but Unmade. That's the realization Dalinar's going to have to come to.

I vote yes if for no other reason than it adds some depth and grey areas to what we know and don't know about Listeners and Voidbringers.

One the first part, yeah I'm really digging the difference in how Renarin comes across based on whose viewpoint we're seeing him through. Shallan sees him as creepy and Adolin I think understands him much better and we get a clearer picture of what's really going on. Way to go Sanderson, that's a level of depth to your writing that many authors don't really get to. Second part: I think he was referring to his earlier worry about Gavilar finding out his feelings about Navani.

So a few points of interest for me: - Kaladin's stuff felt kind of like filler except for a little tiny confirmation of the theory that lesser spren will become shardplate. The mechanism is a little different than most of us thought but it looks like it'll happen in this book or the next. - The whole section of Renarin and Adolin was pure gold. So many interesting tidbits. Adolin's reflections really make me feel like Brandon has something cool planned for him that is going to blow people away. Renarin figuring out regular horses don't fit on Roshar. Glysblade! Renarin is totally legit now. Oh and thanks for the hand. - Really interested to see where the whole voidbringer thing is headed as it's clearly not exactly what anyone expected. Oh and Mr. T? Not sure if he's going to end up being a mustache twirling villain, but something's definitely up. I'm thinking his Radiant isn't going to be someone we've seen before.

[OB] What Truthwatchers can see
The Invested Beard replied to notsawerd's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes. I know a lot of people don't like it, but I always found the precognition stuff in Dune (esp. with Paul) to be really fascinating and could definitely see Brandon pulling from that place of more knowledge of the possible future adding to confusion and not necessarily helping you in the long run.- 14 replies

[OB] What Truthwatchers can see
The Invested Beard replied to notsawerd's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think it's possible that the Truthwatchers pre-Recreance were in some way responsible for the Radiants finding out some hidden truth and breaking their bonds. Vorinism may have then associated seeing what may happen in the future with Odium/Evil as the culture of the day was pretty much devastated by the disappearance of the Radiants.- 14 replies

So I was just looking through @Pagerunner's awesome Reddit WoB compilation and found this veeeeeery interesting concerning this very same Highlord... Q: In The Way of Kings, Chapter 54: Gibletish, Dalinar has a brief conversation with Brightlord Hatham, one of his ardents, and a few other people. During the conversation the ardent uses the word “soil” in a way most Rosharans wouldn’t. After the conversation he tells Dalinar of “our goodwill toward you” and that “we will speak with you again.” The odd use of the word “soil” combined with what could be a vague reference to the ardent’s associated with a group other than the ardentia has led some of us to believe he might be a worldhopper. Plus, we know Nazh is around in the area, or will arrive soon. Is there truth to this idea, or are we overthinking this? A: Alethi use the word "soil" on occasion in their language to mean "dirtied" or similar. It's a holdover from an earlier time. But they don't associate it with the ground, and if you see it used instead of stone like in this quote, it should indeed raise an eyebrow. So one of Hatham's Ardents may or may not be more than he seems...coupled with the specific mention on Hatham's colors...some interesting things can be theorized...

[OB] Oathbringer chapters 7-9
The Invested Beard replied to Steeldancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
Why not just a freaky psychopath that sees an opportunity to pass off their killings on someone else by copying the method of a previous murder? Once someone solves the original murder they may be hoping the rest will be pinned on the original murderer. -
So it's really really really big then.

More Zahel is something I could definitely get behind. -
So the "din" portion may be born and "den" could be one step up to child following suit.

I have nothing to add to this aside from the suggestion that all references to a spren's gender should be hereafter labeled "Sprender".

[OB] Oathbringer chapters 7-9
The Invested Beard replied to Steeldancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
I agree here. It is widely agreed that seabed/low elevation strata being present in high mountain ranges like the Himalayas is due to tectonic shifting and continental land masses "colliding", thus pushing the lower elevation rock upward at the seams. Not sure we know if Roshar has tectonic activity or not yet. Anyone wanna find a WOB on this? -

I believe it's just referring to the fact that she's ruling Kholinar in the King's stead while he's away. -

Since everything technically has a spren...I wonder what Urithiru's spren is like in the CR and what sort of impacts it's size/importance would have... -
