  1. Mark Hamill should be Odium. Or maybe James Spader.
  2. Thanks for reminding me of this. It’s very true. But at the same time, I need to judge the character from what we see and hear of her. I think that she needs more POVs of her own to truly shine, because everyone except Kaladin loves and admires her, and might not notice her flaws or weaknesses.
  3. One of the major ones will die before Book 6. At least one. I think Skar and Teft are the most likely, but I can defenitely see Lopen biting the bullet as well. I think Brandon has more in store for him (and Rock and Sigzil) so they are safe. I think Teft only has Ashertmarn on his checklist, and then his arc will be done. As for Skar, he feels like the brave warrior side-character who everyone likes but who won’t ever get a huge arc for himself. I can see him falling in battle somewhere during books 4 or 5.
  4. @Pathfinder This is an awesome post! Great job, and thank you. I liked Jasnah when I read Way of Kings. I did, and your post reminded me of that (thanks again!). And I have always considered her character to be great even though I personally dont like her. And why don’t I? I dont think it is about me not getting that she is a good person, because I do, especially after this post. I understand that she is caring and not really cold. That all she does is for good. That she has a tough time, filled with hardships. My problem is easily divided into three parts, I think: 1. Im still not fond of her cold demeanor, which she puts up for the world to see. That is how we see her most of the time, and I find it annoying. When I read a lot of her lines and scenes in Oathbringer, she feels a little full of herself, and I dont like that. I don’t think that she is (or rather, I think she might be, but subconsciously). This is probably more my own fault than hers though. I just cant look away from my annoyance, even though I know that I’m not really annoyed with the Jasnah that exists deep down. 2. She is (and this, I would argue, is the one actual problem with Jasnahs character) overpowered. If Stormlight had been a tv-game, everyone would have been calling for Brandon to nerf her. She is an amazing fighter, a great scholar, incredibly knowledgeable, diplomatically skilled, keeps track of assassins, Ghostbloods and Heralds, might already have Shardplate, is able to get everyone to do what she wants them to do, and is intelligent, beautiful, rich, kind, caring and has a high position in society. No matter what the problem is, all characters can turn to Jasnah. That bothers me. In order for me to relate to her, she needs to have a weakness, a flaw that actively hinders her in an area which is currently important to her. As of now, she doesn’t have that. 3. I just dont get the hype. I often get stuck loving characters who are minor/side characters, or as is the case in Stormlight, universally disliked (poor Amaram). I tend to have bias against the characters a LOT of other people love, but which I don’t get the hype for. In Jasnahs case, that is increased because of my other problems with her character. This is a fault of mine, and not anything directly related to Jasnah. But it was an educational text, and I am impressed with the work and sheer dedication on your part. Thanks for encouraging me to check it out!
  5. I started the thread because I wanted to answer questions. I am a toaster because toasters are awesome. As for the last question, I’ll just answer donkeys.
  6. Why I started the thread? Why I am a toaster? Or just a general why about toasters?
  7. They are books. This forum is about an author. 8/10, very good.
  8. You guys kinda made me like Shallan more, so thanks for that. I have never thought about her and Wits discussion like you did. Upvote!
  9. @Pathfinder I will defenitely check out your Jasnah thread. Sounds interesting. I dont always read all her threads, simply because I don’t really like her all that much. As for Amaram, he is tricky in the sense that he is very self-important. I do think that he does care about people. He had to be talked into killing Kaladins men, he was kind to his servants, he looks after Adolin to make sure that he doesn’t screw up. I do think that Amaram cares about saving peoples souls and bring back the faith of people. As for the quotes, this is Fallen Amaram speaking. The Amaram who has lost faith in his gods, his allies and his friends, and turned to Odium. I doubt Amaram would waste lives only for his own self-importance. He could do it subconciously, but not only for that. And everyone assumes that Dalinar will invade the Thaylens. Dalinar even considers invading. So even though it is stupid, I dont think it says that Amaram has a disregard for human life. And I would of course be willing to read your analysis of Amaram. Storms, I have been considering making my own, but I’m biased in the other direction. But it is defenitely interesting, and I always love seeing Amaram posts and discussions. Also, I agree about Dockson, so we have one character we both like, at least :-)
  10. We are going to force feed it spiked cookies as well? I thought we had passed the line where it couldn’t get worse. Apparently, I was wrong.
  11. He is not part of the Diagram. Taravangian would have mentioned it if that was the case. But yeah, the guy is being setup for something.
  12. First off, Jasnah is biased and hates Amaram. We dont know if her judgement is trustworthy in his case. Second, I don’t think he would work against the team effort out of ego. He finds the defeat of Odium incredibly important, doesn’t like to waste human life and believes in the KR and the Heralds (until Odium turns him). Amaram is handicapped by his ego, but I dont think that he would destroy everything just to show how good he is.
  13. It would take insane skills. Hoid with a thousand years of practice and modern day tech might be able to do it. But I doubt its something that will come into play in the current books.
  14. Amaram is misguided, controlled by others and is selfish but he does also genuinely want to do right and be good. I think that with other circumstances he would have been on Team Dalinar. Would it make Taln happy though? I think he would be happy to take torture to keep Roshar safe.
  15. Amaram doesn’t deserve that. Really, he isn’t as bad as people make him out to be.
  16. I really like this idea. I am not as much a fan of this though. Amaram has had a hard time.
  17. Ishikk. I would like more of him as well.
  18. I dont think polonium is good for anyone. We got a show with the Unmade.
  19. Because I dont have anyone to seek RETRIBUTION upon :-(
  20. None. Hemalurgic beavers would force its servants to do it. Two. Because beavers are fascinated by electricity. So they could turn it off. Potatoes.
  21. I think they will be somewhat present. I do expect Taln to be cured for example, at least relatively. But as my hivemate @Steeldancer said, Ash needs to go through character development to be a Dustbringer. It will probably be a major plot point in the back half, given that a Herald joining another order might end up being controversial in-world. I dont think Ash will be our Dustbringer before SA6.
  22. None. My parents own one (which is in my avatar).
  23. The Ghostbloods in general and Mraize in particular. The Heralds in general, Chana in particular.
