Long Game 69: The Politics of the Passions
Elkanah replied to Zillah's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yes this @Zillah Thank you for your answers, I'll see if I can come up with more questions for you. -
Look at that. We decided on a lynch and it's not the very last minute

Long Game 69: The Politics of the Passions
Elkanah replied to Zillah's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'll sign up as Lknik (pronounced elkana'), a lowborn thaylen with higher aspirations than assistant. I support Yasdv as far as I believe they can support me in achieving my own office later on. A few questions - When submitting an action during the day, am I requesting the action from a table or am I requesting a table from which I will be assigned an action? That is, am I choosing an action and I have a 20% chance of getting it, or am I submitting "I'd like something illegal please" and receiving an illegal ability? If someone else gets an action, does that preclude me from obtaining the same action? e.g. We all choose the passion of research (or politicking if that is the way), is there a limit beyond the 10% chance on how many of us can receive the action? If we choose the category instead of the passion, is there any downside to choosing politicking over safety? Does the passion of narcotics target only illegal actions or all actions? Do the passions retain their likelihoods of being selected or do narcotics have an equal shot at achieving any action? Will we be told what action we are given by the passion of narcotics? Will we be told who we target with the passion of narcotics? Will we be told we were targeted by the passion of narcotics? or will we be told we were targeted by whatever action narcotics put us on. sorry, put on us. What happens if the passion of narcotics gives us the passion of narcotics? As you can see, my main takeaway from the rules is doing drugs sounds like a lot of fun. -
What? Lynching someone I'm suspicious of? But what about the crusade? No, fair enough. Sart Vapor

haha, sorry. I thought it was funny then and still funny now . I'll refrain though. You probably get it from a lot of people. Your comment on Gears' playstyle from day one reminded me of that game. Ha, I think we all do. Would you be willing to look through the thread and place a vote? As much as I sometimes complain about low activity, this game has been a little nice as I haven't had a ton of time. There are few enough posts that I read the entire thread a few times last night. Sure there's less to analyze, but now there is the opportunity to do it in less time. As far as actions, there are only a few that have game ending potential and they're probably heavily restricted. It's very possible that Gears was our only coinshot and Illwei our only lurcher. That being likely, I don't think any of us have especially potent actions. All we can do now is lynch an elim who will troll us into finding the rest of their team. another tie huh? is this the part where I promise to break it and fail again? I'm not particularly interested in lynching either of these two at the moment. @Sart defend yourself! You claimed on day 2 that Gears was an information lynch. What information have you gained? You also said spreading the votes was an elim tactic so they could get a bandwagon going on anyone. Do you stand by that? It seems like spreading the votes a little bit allows us to place pressure on several people, but the pressure I am able to exert feels a little weak. @Sorana, would you help me apply some pressure? Sart Silberfarben for now I read your post more carefully this morning with fresh eyes. Just because not every player that voted to save them was an elim doesn't mean that no one that voted to save them was an elim. This is a really interesting jump in logic that you made. Especially since I really doubt there are four elims. If Vapor is an elim, a max of two people could have come to their rescue. It wasn't Illwei because they were village, but it doesn't make Xino or Stink less likely to be an elim. If it was a village-village lynch (and there isn't a lot of reason to suspect otherwise given Gears was the one who was saved and not Vapor) the only person whose alignment may have been indicated was Araris and he saved a villager. I don't know why elim Araris would have saved village Gears... unless he knew we'd work this out and in that case I say well played sir (rereading your post to make sure I analyzed your argument correctly) right, so I agree with your first half actually. Reading through your analysis, I realize Joe, Stink and Illwei are the three who actually broke ties in favor of Vapor. Xino is still suspicious as he made sure that Vapor was safe, but he never actually broke the tie. This implicate you, Joe as one of the people who helped protect Vapor. Then again reading your reasoning for voting gears, it looks like you were voting for his posts and not to save Vapor. I'll file that away for now. Basically it boils down to if Vapor is bad, Stink and either Joe or Xino is probably also bad.

All right. Here are some thoughts: A Joe in the Bush - voted to lynch Gears both days. NAI. Suggests Araris and I may be on a team... I guess that could make sense. From my own perspective, I think we would've made something work in the elim doc to make sure a lynch happened. I don't believe I stand to gain much if I was an elim by stopping a lynch. I don't really gain much as a villager either. Huh. that's something to consider. Who actually benefits from failed lynches? The village definitely gains from thwarted elim kills, but that's because they are most of the time pointed at villagers or at least have a very slim chance of hitting an elim (in weird cases). Their best post is the one this cycle and I'd prefer to keep playing players alive. Araris - I've really gone back and forth on Araris all game. I was worried at first that it was just his stab vote that made me suspect him so I haven't really pursued it. Tied up the lynch between Vapor and Gears... for reasons I can agree with. I said the same thing a little while before in that I thought the lynch on Vapor would have been better. The difficult thing is neither of us got on to retract and ensure the lynch. Voted Stink this cycle. I'm not sure what to do with that. Similar verdict to Joe. Elkanah - always good. always right. Lord Silberfarben - has posted three one liners. not currently in danger of the filter, but skating right up against it. The trouble is I suspect he'd try to do this to avoid attention as an elim. It may be time to call a new crusade. Stink - a son of honor windrunner. went pretty hard after Gears. Seems more like a village thing to do. I don't know if elim Stink would have been as aggressive, but it has been a while since I played with them. mild village. Sart - Has two posts. Both times he votes for Gears. He makes an interesting comment defending Vapor in his most recent post. It's very possible they are on a team together. (I can't wait to see the doc where someone points out how far off I have been.) I think Sart is another good lynch candidate with Lord Silberfarben. Sorana - Has been pretty active and feels village to me. It won't let me ping you right now, but in answer to your question my vote is mostly based in his low activity. I will be switching to Lord Silberfarben, though. Vapor - Looking back through, I feel like a smarter person would be able to tell whose team they would work on. Every person I tried pairing with them is dead and confirmed village. Even so, their posts seem to me like an elim. I'll say mild elim for now and we'll see where we go from there. Xinoehp - good RP. otherwise not really anything to go off of. I hoped the pressure of a vote would do something, but everyone seems pretty busy. I'm going to switch from Xinoehp to Lord Silberfarben, but I'd like to hear thoughts from both of you. I'd also be willing to move over to a Sart lynch if that takes off. While I'm far from convinced about Araris' villageriness, I think we have at least one inactive elim. If not, we're in big trouble.
-
Hmm. Well, that gave me less off hand information than i was hoping. Three pretty active people died. I'm going to relax on Araris as i suspect he's the next elim target. I think I'll place a vote for Xino for now. I don't remember him being a big part of the action so far, but maybe i wasn't paying enough attention. More to come when I'm not at work Xinoehp
-
The lack of a counter swing leads me to believe gears is village, but I'm not going to vote illwei as @Araris Valerian will undoubtedly switch over and tie it again
-
Yeah, it could have been. It was really. I was excusing my genuine error. You interpret correctly. I'd have preferred a lynch on Vapor, but I also preferred a lynch over no lynch. If it became very relevant we were lynching Vapor. If it wasn't I could just retract to ensure a lynch... which would have worked great if I'd opened the game fifteen minutes earlier. I want to join the 'Araris is sus because he tied the vote,' but why would the elims want a tied vote? I guess that would make sense if it's an Araris- Gears team, but even then, that was an on-the-nose play that would get both of them lynched. We could lynch one of them to get info on the other, but I'll wait to commit to that for a bit.
-
Oof. I got the time zones wrong. I was getting on right now to make sure there wasn't a tie. Sorry everyone.
-
All right, since @Elkanah posted, I'll remove my vote for now. Elkanah, I'm still watching you. I don't think Gears' claim is especially egregious. I do understand the play and I have a friend IRL who favors the strategy. The downside is he had to be lynched night one a couple dozen times before it worked once and he was able to claim elim as an elim and won the game off his personal meta. Even still I have friends who will attempt to lynch him night one to stop the claims. It is a very long term strategy, but if you're committed to it, I don't have a problem with it. Now to actual game talk. I find nothing gears had said to be AI. I'll vote vapor but if there ends up being a tie I'm willing to retract. Gears scared me with his analysis in the quick fix and if we're on the same team, I would prefer to keep him around.
-
What!? That escalated quickly Well I guess I can't argue with that logic! Elkanah, Defend yourself! I'm sorry to hear that. Does anyone know who holds the record (current games excluded)? I knew it!!! I'd vote for you, but I'm still waiting for @Elkanah to post. Therein lies the feindish cunning I think Gears pretty well summed up the roles for the game so once we hear from Elkanah I'll do a super deep read of the first day and get back to you on someone else to kill lynch poke destroy end vote.

The turn is closed. I apologize now, It's going to be a late one even by my own high standards

Daily Report 11-03-766 The team has confirmed that the effects of the investiture are not present in the samples themselves. It seems to be something on the samples that can be spread from one host to another. Applying more stormlight seems to encourage this spread. Sample 15 has gone missing. A small fire broke out in the file room. Priceless data was lost. Daily Report 01-04-766 An independent team was enlisted to take a sample to Roshar. Exposure to stormlight encouraged growth, but it was closely monitored and controlled. To the surprise of the researchers’ rot spren seem to be attracted to the sample. After confirmation from the medical institute in Silverlight we have confirmed the existence of several diseases present on the samples. The University is now in lockdown. Quarantine Day 1 Privacy is a commodity that can only be afforded to those who are not infected. All non-GM PM’s are immediately Closed! Sart was Killed! From the research journal of Liba: There are eyes everywhere here. The walls. The Ceiling. This place of science is nothing more than a petri dish. The other interns think we are the ones studying the samples. How naive. Votes: Devotary (12): Ashbringer, Elandera, Matrim, TJ Shade, Straw, Frozen Mint, Lotus, Illwei, Vapor, Kasimir, Sart, Lahilt, StrikerEZ Matrim (1): Araris Devotary has been lynched. A thousand apologies everyone! I have reviewed my notes and have realized that I was slightly off on my vote counts for the last day cycle. I will post this in the write up for Day 3 as well, but I wanted to make sure people saw without having to memorize what was already there. Here is what I put. Votes Young Pyromancer (4): Gears, Lotus, Lahilt Lahilt (3): Kasimir, StrikerEZ Lotus (2): Matrim, Illwei, Vapor Mint (2): Sart, Araris Araris (1): TJ Shade Sart (1): This is correct Votes Young Pyromancer (4): Gears, Lotus, Lahilt Lahilt (3): Kasimir, StrikerEZ Lotus (1): Matrim, Illwei, Vapor Mint (2): Sart, Araris Araris (1): TJ Shade Sart (1): Again, I apologize and invite you to go back to your regularly scheduled mob violence.

I'll sign up. I promise to post at least once or twice every cycle, but my attention may be a little divided so it may not be more than that. I will be Krashe. An inquisitor who is excellently balanced. Other things just get in his way. He's used to having eyes you see and... now he doesn't because, you know, spikes.

Daily Report 07-02-766 We can’t quantify everything that is happening. The interns are experiencing odd reactions to the samples. See the attached file to outline the effects. Many of the symptoms seem to correlate with surges. More stormlight is requested to further this research. Several researchers were supposed to return to the project, but due to unforeseen accidents, they end up on medical leave indefinitely. Follow up note 09-02-766: the attached files have disappeared Incident Report 08-02-766 Interns living on and near the facility campus awoke to shouts and cries for help. A trail of blood spots led the length of the main facility. Hand prints on the wall lead us to believe he was able to fight his attacker off, but only after being mortally wounded. The body of Dr Gear was found at the emergency rear exit to the campus. We believe it was his intention to activate the security protocols to aid in catching the culprits. The strange thing is there were no lacerations or signs of harm on the body that would explain the profuse blood loss. Whatever killed him left no marks. All interns are to travel in groups of no less than three and please stop "forgetting" to sign in as you move to new areas. Dr Gears was killed. He had a medical background and no condition. Teft the mosshead has withdrawn from the game. Elandera has been kind enough to take his position. With deepest apologies, I present the corrected Vote tally from Day 2 Votes Young Pyromancer (4): Gears, Lotus, Lahilt Lahilt (3): Kasimir, StrikerEZ Lotus (1): Matrim, Illwei, Vapor Mint (2): Sart, Araris Araris (1): TJ Shade Sart (1): Player List The Cycle will end at 8 pm MDT on Monday August 10th.

The Cycle is over.

Yeah, I could have worded that better. I meant symptoms that weren't mechanics.
-
I have heard your pleas and have come to some share decisions. First, I apologize for the vagueness of the game. @The_God_King and I were excited to try out a slow reveal format. For that reason, we still haven't even told anyone the actual names we have for their conditions. I thought it might be more obvious than I have realized that it is. However, we have used mostly the same wording for multiple people with the same action. Being cryptic for the sake of being cryptic may not be the most healthy way to run a game. Therefore, I will be PMing those with actions and revealing the true name of their conditions. Further, as you have received all the information except for the names of three abilities, I will reveal now that Mist was afflicted with Transformation, Lord Silberfarben had Progression and Pyro had Tension. When we censured the conversation on GM PMs it was because I was a little overworried about the use of GM PMs to prove alignment. The village was referred to offhand in the GM PMs to the infiltrators and it would have been better just to mention the name we had given villagers in the Elim doc. As no condition is exclusive to village or eliminators, I was slower to step in on the topic of describing conditions (both what they can do and what symptoms came with them). Given this lack of alignment indication, I am still not worried about discussing the flavor or ability of conditions in public or private or sharing the surge it is associated with. The same goes for backgrounds if they do (or do not do) anything. A few other matters to resolve: The God King is unavailable for a few days and I will be running the game more or less on my own. That's why last night's cycle was up a little late. I appreciate how patient you have been so far and would appreciate patience going forward. @Elbereth will continue to have the final word on this ruling. If I am allowing too much information to be discussed, I will not be offended to be wrong. I am often wrong and will often be wrong. This is only my opinion on the state of the game.

This is possible
