Malnar brought his hands up to block the blow. "What in the Almighty's name are you talking about?" he asked. He kicked at John's legs and then stepped back. (Sorry about that, Malnar really has no exposure to the idea that gender is anything more than male/female. But here's John's chance to explain.)

Someone punched Malnar in the nose. He flinched and instinctively brought his hands to his face to block any more blows. Then he dropped into a fighting stance. "Vev's eyes, what the storms was that for?" Malnar said. He furiously blinked tears out of his eyes and looked around, but he didn't see anyone that seemed especially likely to have done it. There was Aleta, the other girl who had reported to Brightness Kenara, John, the oddly feminine man who seemed obsessed with normality, and Dan, which looked like a soulcasted stick that surely somebody must be puppeting somehow. Malnar looked around warily. "If you have something against me then come out and storming say it, instead of attacking me like a coward."

Feel free to call out Malnar for what he does. He still might not get it, but a good whacking might encourage him to keep his mouth shut (until he vents about it to his husband).

I probably should put up Malnar's description too. Malnar is half Alethi, half Thaylen in his late twenties. He has black hair and long white eyebrows, which he trims to Alethi length so he can fit in. He has dark brown eyes. Malnar is an archer, so he is fairly muscular. He used have to wear the blue uniform of Dalinar's army all the time, but now that he was reassigned, he is gleefully dressing in more casual clothing. Warning: As someone ingrained in Vorin culture, Malnar will have opinions that do not reflect my own. In particular, he's going to cling a bit to Vorin gender roles. He might not be as strict with them as someone who is truly devout, but he will be more judgemental than modern people today.

Can all of the players who are RPing provide a physical description of their characters, including eye color? Thanks in advance.

A woman that chose to fight with a sword? That was...unheard of. On the other hand, Malnar's mother had insisted that he learn how to read and write in the women's script, which he'd found useful multiple times. Ma hadn't been very religious. "I don't think Kenara's willing to experiment, but if she wants to put you through Basic, that's her choice," Malnar said. This girl would probably drop out of Basic before too long.

"Nalan's breath, the commanders here aren't barbarians! They won't force a woman to fight. Really, you won't see much action in the backline unless a chasmfiend breaks through, by which point you're already doomed." Malnar shook his head. "You should be thankful. I wish I could have a cushy job as a scribe."

Malnar barked out a short laugh. "Brightness, you have no idea what you're talking about. Going through Basic is like going through hell, but worse." He looked at the woman's slight figure and patted her on the back. "Don't worry, you won't have to go through this. What're you, a scribe? Maybe an engineer? Nobody makes the women do anything." Malnar turned to face Tera. "Ayyyyyy, good to see you too, man. I thought I was the only one in this crem squadron. I don't know about Revali, but I've heard that soffweed turns your brains to mush. Anyways, how of these babies here do you think will wash out before Basic ends?"

Malnar rolled his eyes at this latest introduction. "'Shadowy organization', seriously? Did he get knocked the head at some point?" he muttered to himself. "'Almighty above, what did I do to deserve this?" Anyone want to overhear this?

Malnar listened to the babble of the men around him with a mixture of amusement and disdain. Stormfather, was there anybody normal here? Dalan would suggest not to judge them too harshly, since they might have been newly sent in from Alethkar. But Dalan hadn't seen this circus of men that Malnar would be fighting with now. Once the men in front of him had finished speaking, Malnar marched up to Brightness Kenara and saluted. "Brightness, I am Malnar, an archer from Dalinar's army. I was told that I would report to you now."

I think we also should be careful about setting too many limits. I think it would choose to set consistent values instead of rules, to avoid limiting a player's autonomy too much. I think it's inevitable that a regular and recurring player of SE will get upset at some point. Their team might make a move that throws the game, or somebody they were thinking was elim turned out to be village. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as long as they don't get too upset. SE is just a game, but it is a game we invest weeks of our lives into. I'd argue that betrayals by a trusted player could be one of the most upsetting things there are, but it's still perfectly viable. In my first game, I trusted Burnt, died, and when I found out she was an elim, typed out several pages in the dead doc howling for vengeance. The same thing happened in LG23 with El. I specifically remember that she delighted in prodding me when she too joimed the dead doc. Nowadays, when I remember it, it's usually in an almost nostalgic light of "Hey, remember when that thing happened way back when?" I'm on good terms with Burnt and El today. If the rules are too strict, they might also block things like these, which are upsetting in the moment but only for a bit, as well as genuinely upsetting things that stay upsetting for a long time.

Usually, when I join games, it's for the RP. When I actually start playing, though, the RP gradually dies down and analysis increases. If the GM puts a lot of effort into their writeups and gets them up on time, I tend to RP more. It helps a lot if my character has something to do, whether it's a goal to reach or events to react to. I like catching elims, but personally, I don't put a lot of effort into it. I know that what I do in terms of analysis could be a lot more effective, and I'm trying to find (low to medium effort) ways to improve my elim and village hunting. I know that some players will wake up early and stay up late for SE, such as in LG21, where Burnt got up at around 4 in the morning to do some vote manipulation for the elim team. Personally, I think that's going a little too far, but I know that I value my sleep more than some others in this forum. My activity is rather reactive, so I'm more active when others are active and less active when others are less active. Really, when it comes to gameplay, I don't have a lot of limits. If I decide to avoid doing something for a game, it's usually because I know that other players dislike it. (For example, Orlok doesn't like mayoring. That's why I decided not to reveal my tin powers inthread in the game he was GMing.) Recently, I've stopped being engaged with the game after I die. I think part of it is due to lack of game investment in general, or maybe a lack of interest in the dead doc.

We do want to find the elims, but finding the active elims takes precedence over finding the inactive ones. As Ecth said, inactive elims don't put in kills. They also don't interact with anyone, which makes knowing their alignment less useful. Of course, a dead elim is always better than a dead villager. Fair enough.

@The Flash, a little aggression is fine. It's always good to point things out, because other players might not have caught it. @cloudjumper, hello? Are you paying attention? What reads do you have?

Okay, I've looked over Len's posts. He says he voted on Straw because he wasn't Joe, Stink asked him to, and because he was going offline soon. Not a lot of strong reasons there. Only the second reason is unique to Strae and can't be applied to others. Len talks about his activity and says he wants Straw lynched over Rand. Then he defends Rand, in a move that feels a lot like pocketing. Then Len says that he'll be more active when players start dying. He votes on Yitzi because Aman voted on Yitzi, and it feels like an elim catching onto a villager's coattails. At this point, Len might have thought that Yitzi was doomed. Stick said that Len voted 9th on Yitzi, I think, so this could be an elim piling on his teammate to avoid questions of "Why didn't you vote on him?" Len goes silent for a long while. Len says that leverage by itself isn't bad and SE is all about leverage. I kind of agree, but his example kind of misrepresents leverage/makes light of it. It's hard to explain. Then he says PMs =/= info. I have a slight elim gut read, because he's done some things that could be pocketing or piling to avoid suspicion.Len.

Wow, is this the same group of players that produced 23 pages on D1? Just because Aman and Rand are dead doesn't mean our discussion hias to be dead too. I don't have a lot of time now, but I'll take a look at Len later. His silence for so much of D1 is kind of weird. EDIT: @Dalinar Kholin, can you please explain your vote on Ecth?

@Elenion, I've been in some contact with Orlok, but most of our PM is OOG fluff. EDIT: He said he was very suspicious of Rand a few times.

Well, crem. Sorry Randuir. EDIT: That was my last vial, and now that Aman is dead, I can't get any more, so I have no more kills. Aman, you get to say "I told you so."

Julie shook her head. "No, we do textiles. We ship all over, even to the Roughs, which was why I came here to protest againnst taxation without representation. See, we get taxed twice, once when the cloth enters Elendel, and once when it leaves. It's blatently unfair and favors businesses in Elendel. But whrn I saw this going on, I decided that worker's rights are a worthy cause too."

Julie thought for a moment. "Well, he mostly lets me do what I want. Originally, he didn't want me to come here. At first he wanted to hire a Coinshot escort to follow me. I talked him out of that, because we don't have the money for that. He wanted me to take on the family business, but after I told him I wanted to study metallurgy, he passed it on to my sister."
