  1. You know, I have felt for a while now that Gavilar isn't truly dead, but I never thought about him as champion until I read this thread, and to be honest, I hate how plausible it sounds, because I really like my Cultivation as odiums champion theory. Well done, OP!
  2. I stand by my Cultivation as champion, though I just read an incredibly convincing thread on Gavilar as Odiums champion that I'm going to be mulling.
  3. Cultivation as champion would be a significantly bigger shock to Dalinar than almost anyone else. It would throw him off his game. It would be the 1 thing he would least expect, I would imagine. Even as big a shock as Taravodium would be, Dalinar knows him. Cultivation, a shard, a freaking dragon shard, an unknown shocking entity, what does Dalinar do with that? If you have to go into the battle with your champion chosen before you know the other champion, a child (which, fun fact, has become a big theory in the fandom and a favorite of many including at least a few of the mods) would be a great choice. To answer your other reply to this, no, i don't think 99.9% of singers would just kill a child. I don't even think most fused would. Have you read RoW? They seem to have some honor. Kaladin discusses that with Dalinar. I don't even think most "evil" humans would. But I think Moash would. I find either of these theories more plausible than almost any other that I've seen.
  4. I've tried working it out in my brain, and here's what I've come up with: Depressed Kal, while I completely understand it, is exhausting me at this point. This book made me hate Lirin more than almost any other character in the entire cosmere. Large portions of the book felt dry to me. Other than that, I don't have great reasons. I think it's just a preference thing. I know a ton of people love it. I know a lot of the Shardcast peeps adore it. I just... don't. Mostly it just gets me excited for book 5.
  5. Alternative theory: Gavinor is chosen as the child champion because "who's going to kill a child?" Moash is chosen as Odiums champion, because Moash is absolutely going to stab a child in the face, Moash DGAF. The repercussions will be astounding.
  6. Responding to OP: This was the worst SA book, and one of my least favorite cosmere books. There, I said it. I read it. I've tried rereading it, and I give up each time because I just can't.
  7. I don't know if anyone's brought this up, but my theory for a while has been Cultivation as Taravodiums champion. She would not have done anything for Rayse (although it's also a pet theory of mine that she helped kill Tanavast, yes I know they were married, my theory is that he was going insane and she helped to put him out of his misery but with a plan to ensure he wasn't shattered so someone else could pick up the power), but she seems to be on Taravangian's side and was grooming him for this. So... Cultivation as Odiums champion. I'm calling it here. OR... Moash/Vyre. Who would absolutely kill a child. Imagine it. Imagine the child champion theory is true, but it's Moash, and he just stabs the kid in the face. I could see it happening.
  8. I was not prepared to come of 17th shard forums and attend a bible study. And seeing that this is your first post? Bold move. I love it, friend. Welcome.
  9. That is your right to say. I disagree. OB is my favorite SA book overall (though WoR has my favorite scene). I'm finding RoW the most difficult to reread, tbh.
  10. This thread has gotten a bit wild. I just want to throw 2 more of my cents in here. I disagree with @Frustration on a lot of what he said about character growth, and also, calling OB dry sand is just... how dare you, sir? You cannot have my pain. However, that being said, how dare anyone trash Tolkien. He is the Godfather of modern fantasy. His books may not be for you, that's ok, but to just insult them objectively as if there's no room for disagreement? I challenge you to a duel. Tolkiens books have far more depth than anything BrandoSando has written, and I LOVE BrandoSando. I've read The Silmarillion 5 times, I've read Unfinished Tales, I loved LotR when they came out. Until you've read about Beren being asked where the Silmaril is and him responding "it is in my hand," you don't get to judge Tolkien. Duel at dawn! Weehawken! Bring your best pistols, sir.
  11. So I read the OP, and then I came to this page, and yall are wildly off topic. So for context, I'm responding to OP. The thing I'm most looking forward to with Lost Metal is the possibility of getting more meta info on what's going on with Kelsier and also Trell and bad guys. TBH, I'm less invested in the actual plot and more invested in the cosmere stuff.
  12. The immediate action scene that comes to mind is Kelsier's final fight with the inquisitor, when he has a cloud of metal around him. The dialogue scene I want is after their army is destroyed and everyone is planning to leave, and Kelsier comes in and is all chipper and then they go watch the deaths and Kel tells them "this is why I fight. Never question me again."
  13. For the sake of argument (sorry about that), let's say this worldhopping forger spent a considerable amount of time with hoid, who we know is collecting magics. I posit that it would be both cool and possible (improbable but possible) for there to be a 2nd person in the cosmere able to use multiple magic systems, using forgery. Even for a relatively short time. I may be wrong. I would just love to see a fight between hoid and someone else using a bunch of different magics together sometime near the end of the cosmere. I completely understand everyone's points. This is just a scene in my head and I'm trying to find a way to make it work.
  14. Also, I would just like to say that @Quantushas lost the game this morning.
  15. Oh oh oh. You didn't sound harsh. Sorry. I was referring to my habit of posting a little, then forgetting to come back on the forums for like 8 months. You guys are great.
  16. Jokes on you. I won the game years ago. Now when I think about the game, other people lose.
  17. I'm not throwing out wobs entirely. I just thought it was a cool idea and wasnt ready to give up on it yet. I got my answer now and I shall crawl back into my hole.
  18. That's from 6 years ago, and not Canon. He can change his mind. He's done it before. That's the nice thing about wobs. There's wriggle room.
  19. Yes which is why you can see, in the exact sentence you quoted, I said "A vital part," and not "THE vital part. I mean, way to pick apart a tiny grammatical thing, be wrong about it, and not engage with the actual topic. Well done. 10/10.
  20. Could a worldhopping forger (like Shai from emperors soul) use a soul stamp to give themselves powers from other worlds? Like, could they change their soul to become a level 4 radiant, or an allomancer, or anything else? Discuss
  21. I know people have discussed a sequel to The Emperors Soul, because we love Shai and her magic, and the story was written really well. I would also like a sequel, but I was thinking about this as I am currently relisitening to the story. I don't want another story about Shai. I think this one was perfect. And honestly, I don't know how much more growing she really has to do, and character growth is a vital part of making stories interesting. Far more fascinating to me would be a sequel about Gaotona. Here we have a man who was introduced to the concept of the 3 realms, and rejected it. He was introduced to this awesome magic, and fought it. He is now going to have to deal with this man he loved like a son but is just a reconstruction, and he and his faction have to pass off as real, and he's far more down to sel and realistic that his counterparts. I think reading about Gaotonas journey dealing with all this would be a far more fascinating read than anything about Shai. I'd be glad to have her as part of the story, but I really, really want the story of Gaotona going forward.
  22. You heard it here first: Cultivation will be Taravodiums champion. Boom.
  23. So I had this thought while listening to the latest Shardcast, and forgive me of someone has brought this up before, but my theory is that Sja-Anat "corrupting" or "enlightening" spren is what will enable spren to survive when and if their radiant breaks their oath.
  24. I would personally like to see spren become radiants. Maybe that's where Maya/Adolin is going.
  25. I LOVE killer of worlds as a title.
