The Listeners know the Stormfather as Rider of the Storm, and they said He was one of the Spren that betrayed them, giving their power to the Humans. Therefore the Stormfather existence (at least as Rider of the Storm) predate the Honor's Death (and maybe the H&C arrive on Roshar at all).

When I used "God Surge" I want to say "Surge that are thematicaly linked to Honor or Cultivation". I know this "God Surges" aren't special at all.

The thing is different I suppose, the Atium (for example) is simply "only Ruin matter" in form of metal, and therefore is compatible with the Metallic arts. You can't do something similar on Sel, because you can't create a "god-form". At least you may create something like "an Aon thematicaly compatible with Devotion or Dominion, but that Aon will have nothing special, (Like the "Divine Surges" on Roshar)

The Stormfather is both a spren and a cognitive Shadow. He was a "simple" Spren long before Tanavast's Death (knowed as Rider of the Storm) and in some way he became also the Tanavast's Shadow (probably the true ghost merged with the Rider of the Storm, but we can't be sure about).

I remember that WoB, But I can't find it now :S ..
-
If I'm not wrong, there is a WoB about "There is Spren everywhere in the Cosmere (lesser Spren), but only on Roshar you may see them".
-
@Seerow: At the first I finded your theory pretty perfect. But now I may see that it has some problems: If the Dead-Spren are torturated in a cycle of neverending pain as the Healrds were. And for the same purpose. The Odium's prison will never falling apart, because the Spren can't left their suffer-state (instead the Heralds may surrender, stop their effort to keep Odium and the Desolation begin).
-
@Moogle: Your explaination explanation about Spren, Surge and Roshar's Magic Systems is very elegant and I like it. But this doesn't explain how the Rider of the Storm was a Bondsmith's Spren before to inherit Tanavast's Ghost (and probably some of his Investiture). EDIT: It just come to my mind that Honor may be give a bit of his power to the Rider of the Storm to make him "Surgebinding-compatible"....my bad

I am still following this thread, but without any new informations I suppose we are unable to speculate more.

But at the "Black Lake" near the Pit your interpretation doesn't apply. It's possible that when A shardholder dies or change. With all the Shard's investiture also the Shardpool will be drain. To reform in century through leaking from the new Shard.
-
Strange, as far as we know every Shard has his Shardpool. The only thing that came to my mind, is that The Well&Pit weren't "standard Shardpool" (If we may use the word "standard" for something so unknow). EDIT: Unless there is need of more time to the newformed Harmony to "spawn" a Shardpool.

I have still to read Shadows of Self, but are you sure that the Shardpools are gone ? It seems very strange to me

Request: Quote mentioning Hoid from Elantris
Yata replied to DanteRossetti's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
If I am not wrong (just seeing your username), I suppose this can be usefull for you: This is the only "Hoid part" in the old Elantris, in the 10th Anniversary there is a new one also, but I didn't read it yet. PS: If I am wrong about your nationality, sorry and just ignore this post -
And also Sazed will lose a powerful tool (not only Marsh). Without Spike, he can't comunicate with anyone (not insane) on Scadrial. He putted some effort to build something "usefull" for his own agenda with the Hemalurgy and I don't think that he will be happy to lose it (also without dire consequances)
-
It's the 2. He had a wife, and in his Returned's week, He conceived a child with her. The Returneds may have childern using a specific method (or methods). Some High Rank of the Iridescent Tones for example, knows how to make it. And if Siri and Susebron was escaped following his High Priest. They will be send to an Island where other Priest may give to a Susebron an heir (through this unknown method). But the Priests themself didn't know if Vo used the same method or If there are another Methods.

Well if that trck works. A guy may cuts a Monk's Arm (pretty hard I know) and put it on himself to gain partial Dakhor ability (like your favorute Gormyn)
-
Maybe the Bones keep enough connection to the Fjordell to do this. Honestly I don't think that may works (but I can't say the reason :S )

Yeah, I know it, this days my answers to every question is "Adonalsium" .... But follow me for a minute <Speculative mode on: Atium isn't special at all, and is exactly the same thing of the Roshar's gemstone. They are both "matter" that came to existence from leaked Investiture. But Where Does this leaked investiture came from ? Both from Sealed away Investiture's repository (without any better word) one of Ruin (the Pits) and the other from Adonasium (I know that you were waiting it XD), maybe Roshar at all is a "leaking spot" for this Repository. After this long assumption we may see that Atium isn't special at all (well just a bit), is just a Ruin's matter as a standard rock is a Adonalsium's rock (therefore an Adonalsium's Gemstone is... a standard gemstone). Speculative mode off> Of course this whole theory of mine may works only if the Stormlight is Adonalsium's Investiture and not of Honor & Cultivation. Now you may begin to dismantle this idea of mine PS: Sazed himself said that the difference between the Atium and a rock, is only that the Atium is made by Ruin's Investiture alone.

I don't have time to find the right WoB. But someone asked to BS if the ThunderClasts was GreatShell's corpse reanimated by his VoidSpren. He said no, and that the Thunderclast are made by Animated Rock.
-
They (at least the Royal Family) are descended from Vo (the first Returned as far as we know) and Vo died after a week consumed by his Returned's hungry. This last part can be false, but both the Idrisians and the Iridescent Tones think that is the truth.
-
Lesser Spren exist in any Shardworld. But outside of Roshar, they are invisible (There is a WoB about).
-
Probably the Atium didn't become self-aware because it was still bound to a new "entity" born through Preservation's Power. The Pits of Hatsin. Thing about, all the Atium burned, returned to the Pit not to Ruin. It's a bit as if the Pit act as "quasi-Holder" or "keeper" to that part of Ruin's power.
-
Well the Idris popolation has nothing against the Returneds as a being (they think that Austre sends them back, after all), they hate just the Breath-give away used to feed the Court of the Gods (and the God-King).
-
Yes, and on Therenody there isn't any carnivores to this reason. But we saw that through some method you may "fool" at least 2 of the 3 rules. Now I don't say, that Therenody is the best place in the Cosmere, but if you know how to act the Shades aren't a real problem (unless you put yourself far in the wildlands).
-
We don't know if Odium uses the same method.
