  1. You can put 'em on the counter, there with all the other flowers
And help me figure out how to turn off this TV
I'm glad you made the visit, and if you think you have a minute
You should sit and talk until it's time to leave

Is my granddaughter Ruthie still working at the movies?
Does she still let all her boyfriends in for free?
Does she still stare out of the front door as she's serving people popcorn
And talk about how nice today was supposed to be?

Oh, that's the love that I came to bear witness to
Oh, and the love I'm taking with me when I go

Did you notice walking over at the house down on the corner
    There's a dog behind a window that doesn't move
I've seen him staring in the mornings, I've seen him staring in the evenings
As if time stops til his master's in the room

Oh, that's the love that I came to bear witness to
Oh, and the love I'm taking with me when I go

Some nights get worse than others, and I start thinking about your mother
And she's here with me as far as I can tell
As if the world revealed its secret and now it's asking me to keep it
Like a kid that hears the ocean inside a shell

And that's the love that I came to bear witness to
And the love I'm taking with me when I go

    Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

    Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Oh, that's the love that I came to bear witness to

  2. What kinds of increasingly cremmy family problems are you having, DA?
  3. Oh, man. That sucks. All of it. As Del said, we've got your back. Feel free to rant as you wish. We're here for you.
  4. Bee movie thing is good plan. Keep it up.
  5. I write God, and do not capitalize any of those three. When in reference to God or Jesus, pronouns (He, Him, His) are with a capital H.
  6. What's Hoid's favorite flavor of gelato?
  7. Could Purity be a Shard?
  8. @Zathoth That's really cool! Japanese experimental rock is interesting to say the least. You were really close up, what was the venue? Reminds me of some of the pictures I took at the Dawes concert (spoilered for huge and sideways):
  9. Hi, Zoe! I am bleeder. I wear vests and rant about music. Welcome to the Shard. We're all Cosmere trash here. Since you've done some pre-join stalking, you might know your way around, but if you need anything, feel free to message me. Oh, hey. Don't eat the cookies. They'll, uh, Ruin your appetite.
  10. I don't know why my high school library has (or had?) the entire Dresden Files series, but I enjoy it. It would be cool to work at a library.
  11. *goes to school library to renew book one so it can be read over Thanksgiving holiday* *is almost done with book one, so the decision is made to check out book two as well* *is puzzled as book two is nowhere to be found* *goes to service desk to inquire after book two* *waits patiently as librarian looks up book two in library directory* *is confused due to the directory saying book two is in and on shelf* *follows librarian as she gets up, looks at the shelf where book two is conspicuously missing, shrugs, sits back down* *renews book one, gets book three, resigned* *sighs and walks back to class*
  12. I like that the other planet's name is Elegy, because a threnody and an elegy are both similar kinds of song (a lament; especially for the dead). EDIT: And a coronach is a step of the Scottish funeral wake (particularly when they sing to the deceased). EDIT: And a monody is a poem read to lament a death. He's really trying to hint at something here. Maybe a whole system named as a memorial to something? I'm sensing a theme here.
  13. There's a Mormon church not 200 yards from my house, at the entrance to my neighborhood. I could go there for one. I should do that one of these days. Learn something new.
  14. I don't understand, as I have no grasp of the tenets of Mormonism...
  15. Oooh. I would read a Marsh novella. Secret History II: Eyes of Iron.
  16. Just thought I'd put in a little vignette to pass the time. Enjoy.
  17. As far as Jude remembered, they only almost crashed twice. The first was when they were still trying to make their way out of the city. Some jerk in a tan Corolla with rusted hubcaps pulled out in front of them and nearly killed them with his irresponsible driving. The second was when they turned off of Dawson Street and onto I-40, toward Apex. A traffic jam. Apparently, he and Chris weren’t the only ones who knew about… whatever it was that had happened downtown. Jude sat in the passenger’s seat, head in his hands. They inched along the crowded interstate. Drawing a shaky breath, Jude looked up. He lifted his hand, and placed it on Chris’ on the gear shift. “We’re gonna be okay,” Jude said, with all the certainty he could muster. “I promise.” ~ Jude awoke in a cold sweat. “Ch-Chris?” He called out. No, he thought. Just a dream. It was dark. How long had he been sitting there? Hours, days? He couldn’t be sure. The watch he wore hadn’t ticked in so long. Watch batteries are hard to come by when civilization has collapsed around you, he thought with a chuckle. Then, pain. Laughing hurt when you hadn’t eaten in… an indefinite amount of time. He stood in the autumn night air, and slid on his old jacket. It was still cold out, but he felt better nonetheless. Jude sat back down, and fell into a deep, but unrestful sleep.
  18. Mimes are freaky. I put this on some thread a few days ago, I can't recall which one. It's relevant, though. There's a plan? Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see...
  19. Hey, guys! It's Monday. Time for your (?)-weekly edition of What the Hell, Wikipedia?! Here's one that we I dug out of the Wiki archives. From Politics of Belgium: Each minister gets two pygmy goats to ride to and from the office. They are fed entirely on chocolate and European bitterness.
  20. Could Secret History Two (Even Secret-er History?) be after Book 7, and be set as a subplot to Era 2, much like Secret History was to Era 1?
  21. My record collection grows! "Stories Don't End" - Dawes ($20 at FYE)

  23. But the awesome is so tempting. *Emperor Palpatine voice* do it We no longer need HM slaves! Ride Pokemon are a thing now. Oddly. You sure do know your 'Mons, Chaos. @Kaymyth I never play Go anymore. Partly because my phone can't handle the game, but partly because I grew uninterested. Now I'm back to main series Pokemon.
  24. Woo! Microhype! It's like hype just less enthusiastic and on a much smaller scale! Am I the only one who pronounces WoB "wahb"? It's getting really cold in east TN, too, but it's mostly wind chill.
