  1. I would say the opposite actually, Vin and the others were able to control them because they were less human, warped by the spikes. If the charge decayed the spikes would warp them less making them more human and less susceptible to emotional allomancy.
  2. Ivestiture is the power of converting one stored attribute to another. Example: The feruchemist converts stored heat into pure investiture then converts it into age with atium. It's possible to convert to and from allomancy, but only if the feruchemist is an allomancer as well.
  3. Spikes do have a minimum charge, but they're attribute spikes and Sazed in HoA wondered if reusing attribute spikes changes the way they work. He seemed to think that was why Human seemed more aware than previous Koloss.
  4. Adding an identity spike might stabalize the effects though. It could be a way for feruchemist spies to steal information even after their own death. Not very cost effective though.
  5. I actually think that time bubbles affect the spiritual realm somehow. The temporal metals are closest to Ruin's power (since that's where atium was placed while it was still in use) and hemalurgy (which is Ruin's system) is a spiritual art.
  6. Some are still unknown. Particularly the ones mentioned earlier.
  7. I remember somewhere in cannon it was said that preservation switched one or both of the temporal metals with atium. Since there are now cadmium and bendalloy mistings atium may not have it's old role in allomancy.
  8. Actally, "storing" is a misconception. According to the AoL ars arcanum (spoilers) metalminds act as a link bridging two points in time. The attribute doesn't actually spend any time in storage, it jumps directly from the past to the present.
  9. maybe there's some way to artificially make that kind of superstructure off planet and attach it to the ship not sure how it would work though
  10. the most difficult part of all of this is finding a way to anchor the bubbles off planet. in the west jordan signing not long ago brandon revealed the bubbles are anchored the planet because of some kind of spiritial metaphysical superstructure. other than that difficulty your theory seems sound.
  11. If I remember correctly, Ruin is, in essence, intelligent decay. He was more than willing to strengthen inquisitors in favor of a net loss in the world as a whole. It would make sense that burning atium makes people ridiculously good at killing stuff, and most likely increases blood-lust as well. *lightbulb* Straff Venture once presumed that burning Atium was addictive to mistborn, maybe he wasn't completely wrong. Vin was as touched by Preservation as she was by Ruin, and while Zane couldn't be influenced by the offer of more Atium, he certainly used it whenever he expected to be killing. ... I also note we've gotten off topic. Um... How do gambling dens ward off chromium ferrings?
  12. That's kind of exactly what I said.
  13. If that was true the same would be true of Ruin, if Ruin does any half of it, there should be a loss. But the point is that they do it together. when Sazed combined the shards into himself, he became Harmony. Harmonious would be the best description for Feruchemy since it was made of equal parts of both shards. The only reason there is a diminishing return while surging is because the user's innate power of feruchemy is strained to pull in that much of an attribute, and some of the attribute is eaten away to compensate.
  14. Happy new year! I wonder how many months Scadrial has...

Most likely 16. It's the magic number.

  15. That isn't to say he couldn't meddle... I just don't want him to go through the superhero's: "Hey! He didn't actually die (even though we clearly saw him die two issues ago) because of this carefully constructed deux ex machina!" ... "Watch out for that plot hole."
  16. I think Tensoon was a special case. As a 'Hero' he certainly had a stronger will, spirit or whatever than most Kandra. Kind of like comparing Marsh to other inquisitors.
  17. Actually I'd thought that ruin was responsible for the storing part, ruining one of the past self's attributes. Preservation then intercedes, and preserves that person by giving an equal amount to the future self, with some energy lost when more points of time are drawn from.
  18. It does use balance though. Ruin is what allows for a Feruchemist to loose(store) the attribute, and Preservation gives it back. It uses both shards equally. I just think that surging doesn't create a power loss just because Ruin thinks it should. Even while surging Feruchemy still is end-neutral; it's just that some of the power is used for something other than powering up the user.
  19. I made a post about that here.
  20. The Kandra may prove to be the exception to your theory. Tensoon removes his potency spikes with no ill effect in HoA, only losing their benefit. And as far as we can tell from his appearance in AoL (spoiler) He didn't suffer from temporarily removing all his blessings, sans losing their benefit. As far as I understand, Kandra are very spiritually similar to humans seeing as their progenitors used to be human. So removing spikes has either a negligible effect or no effect at all aside from losing their benefit. ... Unless they're inquisitors, and/or their spikes are inserted into lethal points.
  21. Wasn't it revealed that preservation removed Bendalloy and/or Cadmium from the normal 16 mistings and replaced one or both with Atium? To keep balance, there would have to be Lerasium mistings too. They would be like temporary mistborn, burning lerasium gives them all 16 allomantic powers at once, but only for as long as the lerasium lasts. (like when in HoA Vin used the mists to power Elend's allomancy when he ran out of metals)

    Koloss

    Suddenly I want a mistborn-themed magic deck.
  23. More than that even. If you're storing pure investiture, that means you can be burning allomantic steel, pull the investiture (shard power/body/whatever) out of it, and re-use that power in any other way you have access to. i.e. Wax could store power from burning steel, and use it to fuel his ironminds if he had access to feruchemic nicrosil as well.
  24. Speaking of running into him at an event, I did. The bubble MUST be anchored to the planet. Some kind of spiritual/gravity mumbo jumbo that will go up when someone posts a full summary.
  25. Unrelated to refraction, But Someone asked Brandon if making a Bendalloy bubble on a train would make it attach itself to the train. The answer was that Bendalloy bubbles can only attach themselves to the earth. Or Scadrial in this case.
