  1. This talk of displays is giving me an amusing image of whenever a character levels in a game.

I would interpret the WoB as saying its only for some orders and not the surgebinders themselves but for me it is close call. I am certainly intrigued as to why this is case, regardless of who it applies to. As for your theory C, I would currently agree with it as it kind of reminds me when you have an epiphany; the idea behind it is simple in essence, but the amount of effort to actually come to it's realisation would be like climbing a mountain you made out of a molehill. The harder you work against it, the more you slap yourself for being a chullhead for not understanding it sooner when you finally do.

  2. IIRC, the 'forersight-is-bad' mindset came from the downfall of the Heirocracy, as the Ardents/priests claimed to be receiving visions from someone/thing/where, with which they tried to seize control etc. etc. hence why now they're practically servants but don't quote me on that.

I would say Truthwatchers primarily see the present and future, but could possibly also see the past

  3. Renarin's behaviour seems to be pretty much what I expect from a Truthwatcher, given what little we know of them. I see a parallel to The Sword of Truth (I know) novels and it's debate on prophecy with free will versus predestination. It seems to be a trait I associate with those struck with the burden of knowing too much, although in Renarin's case, he may not know how he knows exactly. I'm very eager for the book now to see how the character developments play out

  4. For the first part, only the Godking's priests know about needing a Returned child, so Dedelin would have been none the wiser. As for the other part, I'm pretty sure they either would have came up with an excuse, or teach them how to. It's probable we'll find out in the eventual sequel

  5. We know that the majority of Radiants who participated in the Recreance abandoned their Shards, however it's likely that given how crucial the Stormfather is to the Rosharan ecosystem, the then Bondsmith died to allow the bond to dissipate naturally. (That and it's possible the Bondsmith was like Dalinar, and couldn't summon the Stormfather as a weapon)

Whilst the Storm father was originally of Adonalsium, the Shard's arrival changed the system somewhat

  6. I would actually disagree with most of you on the Elhokar front. Considering all he's been through lately, I'm not getting that dark vibe. I see it as he's accepted that he needs to gitgud by his admittance to Dalinar about how he could learn something from him. Not to mention his drunk lamentation to Kal in WoR. I see it as the start of taking a backseat role so he can learn to be a better leader. Whilst Dalinar may be in charge atm, I don't believe it'll stay that way. After all, the traits for Bondsmiths are Pious and Guiding so I would imagine Dalinar taking a more steward role/leader of Urithuru, much like the way we have the U.N or E.U. Elhokar would resume as King of Alethkar and so on.
