  1. Yes, that's all quite clear. My question is basically just a way of discovering whether Ruin/Harmony communicated through the Cognitive or Spiritual Realm. Distance being a factor in one and not the other.
  2. Is there a distance from Scadrial in which a sufficiently Hemalurgically altered being can't be controlled by Harmony?
  3. Crap! Well, maybe dissection? Syl can still be clamps, a bowl to hold water, etc. Random thought, but, are Shardblades described as having mirror-like sides? If not, are they capable of manifesting with them? I'm imagining all the different uses for a spren. Swiss Army Spren.
  4. Exactly how I interpreted it, but that the initial check isn't amount of investiture, but ability. I'm waiting to see Syl as surgery tools. Edit: wording bad, I'm merely postulating that there isn't a lower bound to size, so Syl being used for suturing, scalpeling, etc is possible.
  5. I'm in the Unmade camp. I think the Highstorm is a moving Perpendiculary, and that the Unmade are immobile in the Cognitive for some reason, but a Perpendicularity allows a sliding over to the Physical where they can move. They seem to move slowly across the continent based on the Mr. T chapter about the lessening Death Rattles.
  6. IF it's someone we've met, Yalb seems a bit comfortable toying with the truth. Lopen is a squire, so kinda unlikely. I honestly can't think of anyone...
  7. So much for spoilers! Suffice to say Lift's actions will result in more surgebinders speaking more oaths. This may need to be moved to the ED spoiler board. Maybe this "grouping" is incidental, but I think not. The spren are either choosing people that already are gathered (Kholins) or guiding KRs together (Shallan, Kaladin, Lift). For instance, Shallan and Kaladin's first meeting ensures that they will continue to have contact. Isn't there a proposed theory that the town Jasnah ends up near in the WoR Epilogue is Hearthstone?
  8. I had heard all 10 Heralds somehow ended up there that night? So could be... any of them.
  9. A character in Edgedancer, mentions "(Paraphrased) Radiants somehow find each other, and group up." We see this dynamic specifically alluded to in WoR. Shallan's reaction to Jasnah's solution to her Soulcaster(item). (Paraphrased)"How easy would everything have been if I had just asked for help." Who's to say Shallan would have become her ward, exposed her intelligence enough to be shown Jasnah's theories about the Parshmen, shown Jasnah her ability to Soulcast, or been invited to join her in the Shattered plans? Sure, the plan to somehow steal the Soulcaster from Jasnah was a bit farfetched, but I argue that it had to be in order to ensure that Shallan "grouped" with Jasnah. Eshonai in Interlude One mentions a fervent need to speak with Dalinar, whom is on his way to becoming a Radiant at the time, and she's been theorized to be a budding Radiant as well. This theory is somewhat weak, but I'm arguing that perhaps all of Roshar is so invested that perhaps some of it (spren specifically, but possibly something else like with Sel?) is actually guiding some events? Eshonai being more attuned to the Cognitive is perhaps actually feeling this pull? Perhaps certain nudges are what pushed Kaladin to slavery and then the bridge crews? Perhaps it's what pushed Lift to save Gawx? I'm wondering if it's Honor and Cultivation's Intents pushing on events? Perhaps against Odium's? There's some possible anecdotal evidence in Edgedancer, but it doesn't back up anything I'm saying here. I guess we'll see if this is a continuing trend?
  10. I have a pet theory that Hesina is the Dark- eyed daughter of a Light- eyed/Dark- eyed couple. Explains her reading, wittiness, and where Lirin and her got the idea to marry off Kaladin to a Light- eyes. And also why Lirin was so nervous about meeting her parents.
  11. I would never cram a story like this into a movie... In fact, I'd see it as a great crime to try to cram a story like this onto a screen. It deserves the nuance and scale that a 1k+ page novel provides.
  12. Dalinar not a tactician? Doesn't he offer some crucial details during a chasm run in WoK while trying to convince a Highprince to join him? Does he not also handle a lot of of the strategies during the battle with the Stormforms? Am I remembering these things wrong?
  13. Dawnsingers, perhaps?
  14. Eh, Eshonai refers to a betrayal by the spren. Listeners are broth, where Men are meat. It makes potential sense if just one character unknowingly made an untrue statement. I'm sure we'll RAFO, and I don't doubt I'm probably wrong! Goodness knows I have been enough times before!
  15. I have a pet theory that Dawnsingers are Listeners bonded with Radiant Spren, before Humans got there/Honor created the Honorblades/spren learned how to mimic the blades.
  16. Got sidetracked. Definitely not Vasher. It's the Ardent that Adolin talks to in the soulcasting tent when they build the wind break for highstorms. I misplaced my book, or else I'd cite pages/chapter.
  17. WalDo... The Ardent Adolin talks to in the soulcasting tent is described as behaving differently than Adolin expects. Minor character involved in some pretty serious stuff... Edit: I can post name and page number soon if no one beats me to it.
  18. Shardblades don't pass through each other or Plate. Barring possible Ascension, is it possible for a being to become Invested to the point that a Shardblade wouldn't pass through them? I assume so, but how much would it take? An entire Highstorm worth? More? What would that much do to a person's spiritweb?
  19. All it might take is one Elantrian drawing a map, and having it glow. "Yeah, this is the coast, mounta-" "GLOWING MAP! What did you do?!" "Idk!! I was just trying to show you how to get to the beach!"
  20. The only part I felt the need to comment on, as the rest of what you typed is incredibly accurate, particularly about the time it takes for an intent to set in (Harmony actually specifically says this to Wax at one point). In the quoted part, I believe we have a WoB that Roshar supporting life is not a natural occurance. Shinovar is weird because it has soil. The rest of the world seems to be rock. How does a continent of rock grow enough to support the lush life described in the books? That is what we've seen from Cultivation.
  21. I do have a pet theory that Hesina's parents are a Light/Dark pairing. Thus why she seems learned and why Lirin was so intimidated to see them.
  22. We don't know, is how I read all of this. Are the Shard's mimicry of Yolen humans, or their inhabitation of worlds with humans, this touch and design of Adonalsium, just one step removed? Or did Adonalsium take direct action? My opinion is the first, and in this letter, that particular line, I read as an accusation. The Lizard is specifically calling Hoid out, noting that he's only frequenting planets that have Shards, so he's clearly doing something that involves a level of Investiture.
  23. I'm quite excited. I live out in BFE, so finding copies of books is kind of a pain, and I'm also brutally frugal, so I dislike paying for shipping, haha. I'm eager to be up-to-date so to speak for the Cosmere (2 more!), and then White Sand in June(?).
  24. I have not read BoM or MB:SH. As soon as I finished, I came rushing to the forums. I read about this "effect" from Khriss, and you folks start talking about it here... How long ago, exactly, did Miles stop feeling pain? How long ago, exactly, did Wax begin being able to form his Steel bubble, and develop his investigative skills? How long ago, exactly, did Wayne develop his abilities with characters? Are these Savantisms, or Effects? So, what exactly made each person stand out in ways that were markedly different than their peers, in ways not necessarily to do with their powers? Wax: Investigation. Bleeder, mentions that during her time as Lessie, she saw things that showed Wax to be a great investigator. We see these very qualities often throughout AoL, and then SoS. Wayne: Holy crap. MeLaan learns from Wayne! We've seen him imitate old ladies, he catches on to who Bleeder is impersonating (despite Bleeder being a centuries old Kandra who is incredibly good at that very thing), and he casually strolls into any group of people anywhere, and immediately becomes one of them. Miles: No pain, 'nuff said. All powerful mental abilities granted them at some point in their lives. Miles used to feel pain, and is quite young, isn't he? However, he burns gold always. I don't think we saw much of Wayne's abilities in the prologue to SoS, and let's be honest, Wax started as a bumbling halfwit, not someone who puts a chemistry set into their study to test the composition of a bullet. Does this theory seem possible? I'd also argue that Wax's steel bubble is Steel Savantism. The book itself, loved it. There are some things I felt were odd. Why would Spook write that book? The motive seems off. Spook was influenced strongly by Ruin, why would he, of all people, be the one to want to preserve the Art? I also felt that, during the first chase after Marksman, Wax held back from using his Feruchemy as he normally would in a fight against another Coinshot, and it left me feeling like that scene was only used to make Wax lose his gun, and felt disingenuous to me. The twist at the end? Ughnff. Right in the feels. Marasi's gumption during the fight at the carriages, Wayne catching on at the last moment and leaving his gum as a clue, the reveal of who Bleeder was impersonating, all incredible, and I laughed multiple times out loud throughout the book. Sidenote: Pg. 256, the newspaper layout. "VISITORS from other WORLDS" Looks an awful lot like a Listener.
