What Is So Special About The Kholin Family?
Elsecaller3414 replied to ZxlinkxZ's topic in Stormlight Archive
And what if Dalinar and Adolin had both died at the Tower battle, when Sadeas betrayed them? Renarin would have no idea what he was doing, and would virtually be eaten alive by the other highprinces. You make a good point. Renarin seems like a person that would be willing to rule if he had to, but not because it was inevitable. Adolin seems to be a little more on the side of a spoiled child, sometimes. He frustrates me quite a bit. Also, I can see how you thought I meant Renarin didn't like Adolin, because I looked back at it and it didn't even make sense to me. -
What Is So Special About The Kholin Family?
Elsecaller3414 replied to ZxlinkxZ's topic in Stormlight Archive
Let me rephrase... What I meant to say is that yes, he does look up to Adolin, but he might not feel that he has the capacity to follow in Adolin's footsteps, at least not as much as he would like. My bad about that. I also agree about the treatment, now that I think about it. If you didn't notice, Dalinar let Adolin join an army a while back so he could know what it was like. He was probably offering a similar experience to Renarin, except that Renarin chose the bridge crews instead. Also, Adolin is the heir, and Renarin is not, so he has a role to fulfill. -

I agree with you in this sense. Renarin also had an older brother that he could never look up to, so maybe Dalinar seemed to favor Adolin? Kind of hard for the son of a warrior when he is not one himself. -
The heralds, where are they now(spoilers)

Playing an infinitive game of tag would not be the best way to solve problems, for sure. -

I have heard theories that Navani might bond with one, though the only experience that I know of that would cause her to break is Gavilar dying. Maybe Jasnah too, I guess, but that is more recent. We have seen people outside of the nobility that have manifested powers, though I agree that there have not been many. -
I am pretty sure that you are right about the spren. Syl didn't seem to like Pattern for that reason. The Cryptics are known as "lie-spren," so it is pretty certain that an Honor-aligned spren would not like them. Including Syl.

The heralds, where are they now(spoilers)
Elsecaller3414 replied to .S.A.M.K.M's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, if they could create more Heralds, then it wouldn't match the whole number 10 thing, so maybe if one of them died, like for good? I think that somehow they make Radiants, but I (apparently) don't know much about this stuff, so don't take me for granted. -
WoR: Dalinar's (new) Shardblade... Taln's honorblade??
Elsecaller3414 replied to michaelmj11's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, either way, the man thinks he is Taln, as the interlude from his point of view had the same name as the Herald. So... either he really is Taln, or he has a major sense of identity crisis. Though there is considerable evidence of him being Taln. Not everybody agrees, but he does have a knowledge of what Surgebinding is, when almost nobody else on Roshar does. He even prevented Shallan from making an illusion in his presence.- 7 replies

Sebarial IS inappropriate sometimes, though. It still is likely that Elhokar will put Amaram in one of the recently vacated spots, and I personally think that yes, that would be a very stupid thing to do.
-
Wouldn't new spren come over from Shadesmar or something as the Radiants renew their oaths? Pattern was not a Blade before, I am pretty sure. The spren risked their lives coming over, true, but I don't know if that applies to the "dead" spren. Although, that theory would greatly explain why Adolin cannot will his Shardblade to stay when it is not in his hands, even when other Shardbearers can.

What Is So Special About The Kholin Family?
Elsecaller3414 replied to ZxlinkxZ's topic in Stormlight Archive
Jealousy, envy, guilt, etc. Yes, that could definitely break even the greatest of people, in a sense. Adolin may break because of going against his father, or because it seems that everyone around him is a Radiant. I mean, his father, cousin, brother, captain of the guard and even his girlfriend are all Radiants, so... he probably feels left out. Even though Sadeas is dead, that brings up another question: What will Ialai think, and will she try to assasinate Adolin or something for revenge? She seems like such a scary person, and the kind of woman that would totally do that sort of thing. -
And there are the kinds that just don't care about life or anything else, they just play around and cause mischief like a windspren. I mean, why would that be an order? Is it to represent all "sort-of-kind-of-maybe" honorable or respectable kinds of people?

Yeah, I could just imagine. "hey, they don't want Kaladin to die, let's kill him off earlier than expected!! Bwahaha!" I really REALLY hope he doesn't do that, though.
-
Well, I kind of feel like Kaladin has kind of been a jerk, but he is recovering, which is good. If he dies, I will miss him, but it isn't like I will refuse to read anything for a month or anything. IF. (trying not to jinx myself here) IF Shallan dies, I would need at least a month, and I would be in denial for much longer than that. I mean, I had a hard enough time with Jasnah in WoR chapter 7...

Theory: The Heralds Caused the Desolations
Elsecaller3414 replied to Secret Ardent Man's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, it isn't like the Desolations happened once every year or anything. I personally think that maybe they happened every hundred years or so, and that seems like a long time in between to us mortals, but it could be relatively short to the Heralds themselves. Also, I doubt that all the Heralds like each other, or have all been comrades in the past, partly because the spren that belong to each order don't seem to get along with each other unless it is direly necessary. Like Syl and Pattern, for instance. And Nale doesn't seem like the kind of person that Jezrien was, and conflicting personalities could get in the way of a camaraderie... is that the right word? -

I hadn't ever really thought about the Dalinar part of Adolin's potential breakage, but that could definitely be a factor. Adolin may or may not regret killing Sadeas, and I am thinking that he does not regret it. Some friends worry (a little irrationally) that Sadeas will come back from the dead to haunt Adolin, but how would that happen? And yes, I agree about the Blade. -
Theory on why Urithiru was built were it was.
Elsecaller3414 replied to Arook's topic in Stormlight Archive
So are the planet and the continent technically considered to be the same thing, sort of? I don't really pay attention to this kind of stuff... I also have no idea if there are other continents on Roshar... -
Does Szeth need Breath to wield Nightblood?
Elsecaller3414 replied to mhelvens's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Apparently, Breath and Stormlight are almost the same thing, so it is really easy for both Vasher and Nightblood to live on Stormlight without having to kill people (especially Vasher) to get it. It seems that the others are not as closely intertwined.- 22 replies

I guess that is true. Some orders' values DO coincide with each other.

Theories About Szenth's Dark Sphere

Never heard that before, but that works, and it means Vasher doesn't have to make other people Breathless in order to live longer, thank goodness.- 51 replies

Theories About Szenth's Dark Sphere
Elsecaller3414 replied to The Unhallowed's topic in Stormlight Archive
Thank you for explaining at my level a little more. Chemistry never was my strong point. I understand that the Stormlight is used to fuel the surges. However, I never did catch that the Returned could be fueled on Stormlight. Where did you hear that?- 51 replies

I sort of have a feeling that if anyone dies, it will be Bridge 4 or Kaladin's parents, Shallan's brothers, and Navani or someone else that Dalinar sincerely cares about, like his sons or the king.
-
Exactly. If a man is broken and goes on to do evil stuff, there is no way that he would become a Radiant. Ever. Unless he changed, in which case he could, potentially become one. Only broken people that do good can become Radiants.
