Took me a long time but I'm done with The Shadow Rising. I was going to take a break after this from WoT but the ending changed my mind so I will probably jump right in to The Fires of Heaven.

Visitors from Other Worlds (Possible other-series spoilers)

Everything is basically in Elendel now so the shard pool in the broadsheet possible Harmony's? -
So the tour is over right? Has anyone had a chance to ask Peter about the two spikes?

What would you choose as your Twinborn Combination?
StormingTexan replied to Moash's topic in Mistborn
Ah good point I guess just take some NyQuil every night. -
What would you choose as your Twinborn Combination?
StormingTexan replied to Moash's topic in Mistborn
Ok if it actually works like this than I would change my answer to this from gold/gold good call. But I wonder if this would really work because eventually when you stop burning pewter you feel the effects you "masked" by burning it right? So you store health and burn pewter to temporarily alleviate the symptoms of storing health but once you eventually stop burning it hits you like a brick wall I would think. -
[possible spoiler] Who was bleeder talking too?
StormingTexan replied to vatsan16's topic in Mistborn
I have to say this makes a lot of sense to me as the "Shard we know". The whole Autonomy thing possible classic misdirection from Brandon or just a happenstance on its timing. I mean really it was just an answer to a question and it spread like wild fire because of the timing. -
The circle of infinite power has been closed!
StormingTexan replied to Kurkistan's topic in Mistborn
In an immortal society I wonder though wouldn't people loose the desire/need to reproduce eventually? A big contributing factor to why we reproduce is it is our version of immortality. Of course I am not sure when this happens (as far as generations) but I am pretty sure it would and in turn throw off what we would consider normal population growth rates and gold consumption rates. -
Dalinar's Flashback Chapter from Oathbringer
StormingTexan replied to Argent's topic in Stormlight Archive
Along with arrogance I think some of the flippant attitude towards the assassin can be attributed to the general indestructible illusion of youth. Especially a privileged youth. More I think about it the more differences I see between Adolin and what we are seeing from young Dalinar even on a maturity level (assuming their ages are similar but I'd say unless you have kids male maturity levels are not progressed a lot between 20-25). I agree though if Szeth had been caught I do not think old Dalinar would have tried to convert him to the Cobalt Guard. -
Dalinar's Flashback Chapter from Oathbringer

BLACKTHORN! Wow young Dalinar is completely despicable. I've always liked how Brandon can make me hate a character then love them or vice versa. I cant wait for SA3. -
Visitors from Other Worlds (Possible other-series spoilers)

I'm not sold either way (pretty sure that was Brandon's idea) but gem stones or no gemstones there is distinctively a beard. I think that is something that would have been described in SA regarding Iyatil's mask. Also her eyes being described as dark seems different to me than piercing in the broadsheet. Again though it's an eyewitness account that is then written in a broadsheet no telling what info was added or omitted. It's not like the lady that saw the visitor drew the picture too. I think the lack of gem stones is not evidence enough to lean torward Iyatil although I do think it makes a lot more sense it's her. -
Haha fail all the way around yes a P

Yep that was an unfortunate missing r

What would you choose as your Twinborn Combination?
StormingTexan replied to Moash's topic in Mistborn
I would go the gold/gold route for the compounding benefit even though the allomantic power seems pretty lame to me. -
So you're saying Scandrian Rapers would want an Atium grill?

Visitors from Other Worlds (Possible other-series spoilers)

The picture and the eyes description makes me lean towards Parshendi however I agree Iyatil makes a lot more sense but the beard thing is throwing me off I did not picture her mask with a beard. -
This would be a horrible idea for the baker. I would be able to see my shame for stuffing my face with pastries after the first bite instead of after I finished it.

An aluminum plate would be counter productive though you wouldn't want to pull something to soft aluminum. I guess plated steel. Seems like it would be expensive though on the off chance you ran into a twinborn like Wax.

I have to say WoR too. I liked WoK but there were some parts that I had a tough time getting through and while reading WoR all I could think about was what is going to be on the next page. I think Brandon is unlike most authors in the way he continues to get better with each book. I think he will continue to do so with SA.

Wayne Enterprises! Please let this happen!

^^ I felt the same about Uprooted Me too! I am just 5 days behind you. Dragon Reborn has been my favorite WoT book so far. I finally got to see what everyone likes about Mat his POV was pretty minimal up until this book. Jumping right in to The Shadow Rising next. Shadows of Self... Well I wont say too much here because we have a whole forum for that but it was a lot more than I was expecting. I thought another lighthearted fun read like AoL and Brandon slapped me in the face with something entirely opposite (well it was still fun). Maybe I'm just high on the Sanderson Kool-Aide but I thought it was Amazing. Any other author I would now be depressed waiting for the next installment but nope just a few months then BoM and if that were not good enough FREAKIN CALAMITY right after that!

Great point! Although...We know Hoid can travel forward in time and although we haven't seen him travel backwards it may be possible. Is this a an inherit ability for Hoid or Worldhoppers? I have no idea any of this makes sense probably just wishful thinking.

The Atium in food I'm assuming you're talking about the wine of nobles being spiked in the original trilogy? That was to test for Atium mistings. Wax actually says in SoS one of the reasons he went to the roughs was the corruption in the banking his uncle was doing charging more interest to the people who could afford it least.

Wayne is probably my favorite Sanderson character and would love to see him as a worldhopper. I agree I would gladly read a book with just him and MeLaan traveling and collecting hats. I wonder what he would consider a fair trade for a fabrial? A lovely leaf he found and brought to Roshar? Wasn't there a scene with Wayne and MeLaan discussing immortality? Wayne saying he wanted to die someday and about never finishing a race or something like that. Possible foreshadowing? He would make a badass Kandra with his natural abilities.
