  1. sure ill start planning the fight tomorrow.
  2. I think id like to wait a bit before fighting other player characters, for drama purposes haha. I think i'll make an Epic for her to fight, and write as it. how about, for whoever does the commentary, I write the fight and then send it to the commentator, who can insert commentary as the fight progresses? Like a collab.
  3. Well Deathskull, if asked, would simply want a straight fight with aesthetic scenery and a nice atmosphere, preferably with lots of metal lying around. Like in a cruise ship, or a space station, or a city. Should i write as the other Epic for her first fight as well?
  4. Well matches shoudl start soon, if we didn't have anything more to do in the bar. Its up to Voidus how that all starts and works though.
  5. Lady Deathskull listened while the man talked. A town where Epics could not even intimidate humans without being in favour with the ruler? The thought was strange. But then, Deathskull thought, I would hate anyone so much as speaking to my humans without my permission. They are mine, after all. The man continued, his demeanour both angry and threatening, but he didn't seem about to attack her. "Head over to Think Tank and fill out an entry form, if you're feeling up to it. I'd love to see you in the arena sometime." She could feel the insincerity in his voice. What a rude man. Deathskull moved the teeth of her skull into a slightly friendlier grin. "Of course, I will respect and follow the law of-" But the man just walked away while she was still talking. Her eyes flared, and she nearly lost her temper, planning for a moment to lash out with a spike of metal and sever his insolent head from his insufferably impolite body. No, no, calm down, she told herself, taking a deep breath. That will just get the entire city against you, and you will have to kill them all and return to your villa in shame and failure. She calmed down, and reassured herself that that stupid enforcer probably wasn't worth her time. What could he even do that could stop her? Not even worth the effort. He had left the building before she realised that she had no idea who Think Tank was and he had left before she could ask him. Approaching a nearby waiter, she asked for directions to the one called Think Tank, which were given quickly and politely. "Now," she said to herself, "time to sign up."
  6. I agree. populations in this world have always been an interest in mine, and the recent AMA where Sanderson reveals some population details (that the ratio of Epics to humans at the beginning was 1:10'000 and that the population of Newcago is 250'000) really allowed me to think beyond pure supposition and wild estimation. The fact that a city like Chicago, that once had a population of 3.6 million, could be reduced to 250'000, even though it is described as one of the biggest, most advanced and most attractive cities left on earth, is quite dire for the indicators as to how many people are actually left on earth and in the FSA. (Obviously I cannot say at all what the population currently of the Dalles is, but here are my thoughts on the factors that would change it). Currently, the Dalles has a population of 15'000 or so. Nearby towns that have probably merged with the Dalles include Chenoweth, with 2000, and Dallesport, population 1000. So a combined current population of 18'000. I think it will certainly be less than that now, despite its relative safety and stability over the past two years. It still had six years or so of the same chaos that the rest of the nation had. And given that from what I know, it seems to not be widely-known- therefore not too much immigration should have occurred, although it certainly would have attracted people from nearby. I'd say half this would be pretty reasonable. The army could be any size, realistically. Depends on losses, recruitment, and starting size since the Epics started appearing. But yeah, I'm just spouting out my thoughts because I like doing that and it helps distract from studying others have the official say, of course.
  7. Lady Deathskull was quite disappointed with the rudeness of her company. Not only did they not say anything to her question, one just up and walked away! No manners in this country. Although the one that seemed to be made out of bone certainly had style. She could forgive rudeness if proper style was achieved. Suddenly someone tapped her on the shoulder. "How's it going, cupcake? You mind telling me why you've been running around threatening the citizens of Salem?" Standing and turning, Deathskull saw the person, presumably an Epic, and he was accompanied by some apparent cowboy. Finally, someone who was willing to talk! "My name," Deathskull began, bowing slightly, "is Lady Deathskull. I have travelled far and wide to come here. I wish to join in with these fights that whoever runs this city stages. Both for fun and for the promised rewards. Are you the master of this city, or some kind of enforcer?" She then remembered his question. "oh... But why wouldn't I be able to scare them? Fear and politeness are the best methods to inspire obedience, I have found."
  8. Are there even other Epics in Astoria except the named ones, and the ones in Icesteel Keep? I never got the sense that there were. Astoria is pretty small, after all.
  9. nah, Mouldbreaker would win he could turn every metal source in the area into gello, rendering Deathskull humiliated and offensively powerless hahaha
  10. That is indeed an interesting question. I cannot think of a reason it necessarily wouldn't work that way, but we know normal crossfire doesn't work. Surely he walked into the path of many bullets that day? and before, willingly walked into attacks from other Epics, confident in his invulnerability? So I think it can be indirect intention of harm, but only when the instigator of that harm doesn't fear Steelheart. So David didn't "instigate" the harm, because he didn't trigger the explosives himself. It isn't a distinction that the courts would make, but it must be one that the "weakness judge" makes.
  11. Also, this should go in the Firefight section, not the non-spoiler Reckoners section
  12. and apparently, so do Kobolds....
  13. my Epic walked into the bar and sat down at the table with Inhuman and Savannah, and started talking to them.
  14. My bad I had no idea how to "sign up" to fights or anything, and neither did Deathskull. And you know, she is as melodramatic as any Epic haha On reflection, I could have made something up, but all I knew about the city at that point was 1) there were dream arena fights there, and 2) they have a bar with Epics in it. Didn't want to make up anything that would turn out to be against the idea of the city as we expanded upon it. But Deathskull won't start anymore trouble- she knows that killing randoms or rejecting the town's authority won't get her into the matches.
  15. It depends who you ask. David listed them separately- he decided that hallucination Epics have more in common with mind-affecting Epics (like mind-control ones) than they do with illusionists, who themselves are closer to light-manipulating Epics because they manipulate photons to create images. But Tia was intrigued that he made this distinction, implying that lorists don't, and probably group them together instead. EDIT: I also wouldn't classify hallucinators as necessarily "more powerful" than illusionists. For one, no matter their power level, everyone can see an image that is created by an illusionist. Whereas a hallucinator has to specifically target each person to give them the image. But by the same token, hallucinators can (if powerful enough) give different people different images whereas illusionists cant. So the distinction is actually a fascinating one that changes a great deal about the applications of their powers. I think David is right to separate them.
  16. To be honest, I am a guy and I am pretty sure that having a miniature human force its way out of you must be more painful than getting a good crotch-kick. Maybe continual crotch-kicks over 12 hours would come close though
  17. He could always have Fortuity level precognition if Paranoid likes that- he senses danger coming and avoids it accordingly. So Timepoet* could swing his axe at him, and then Paranoid writes that Flashback started moving almost before Timeport did and dodges the swing. We would just have to write, for Flashback, in a way that we normally wouldn't with deaths. So instead of "I shoot this guy in the head", write "I shoot, aiming for his head". And we could always assume that he is dodging any attack we send his way in any way he feasibly could. So Corpsemaker would try but fail to lock eyes with him, every gunshot would miss, etc. *misspelled Timeport and it was too funny to change back XD
  18. I think it depends on the situation, a single minute might only cover a single post of game-time, you know? Depends how fast or slow the action is going.
  19. Hmmm that would certainly make things more fun and interesting than erasing past actions completely. I'm still having a little trouble visualizing it, but if people get it then I am cool with it.
  20. ok, so there are never two Flashbacks at the same time? How would this work from the perspective of other players? Say we are role playing with him, and Iconoclast decides on a whim to attack him. Assuming he sees it coming, he activates his power, and... What happens? ah, fair enough. I like that weakness.
  21. I see what you mean. I think powers that specifically heal others might not have any interference, but to be safe I think that it should just be a bit harder using it on Epics. So maybe it takes longer on Eoivs than on humans, and damage transferred from an Epic to a human is magnified, like Coma said? I think it makes sense, fear or no. Epics are physically altered by Calamity, they she slower, so increased mental fortitude and an inherent resistance to certain types of Epic powers seems likely. Hey, welcome not sure of time travel like that would be ok, though. For one, it is likely non-canonical. We do have Timeport, but he only goes forward in time 5 minutes. Two, it has all sorts of implications when RPing (10 minutes can be a looong time in this), we wouldn't want to find ourselves repeating ourselves over and over as Flashback flashes back and stuff, you know? And there is also the paradox problem- if your character goes back in time to say, shoot someone who was planning to ambush you, then they never would have been able to ambush you in the first place, and you wouldn't have travelled back. And if you hadn't travelled back, you get ambushed, and so on. See the issue? Third, while its fine if no-one in-game knows your weakness, and its fine that fellow players (except the GM in whatever city you join) don't know your weakness, you need to actually have one decided on before playing. They rarely come into play but it is still important.
  22. Whoops, sorry for that downvote Twi! I balanced it with an up vote somewhere. yeah, but Epics can still use their powers on each other. Its different from one Epic personally using multiple different Epic's powers through gifting or Epic tech.
  23. a sound concept, but one major flaw- the internet isn't around anymore. A lorist specifically stated that they lost most of the information that used to be on the world wide web. So while computers and mobiles are around, and Knighthawk connects their mobiles and stuff, the internet doesn't exist. that is deliciously dark. didn't you already mention a healing Epic in the op, as well? Skinsaver I think.
