What is 17th Shard policy on linking other fansites?
Mestiv replied to Oversleep's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
From what I know, there aren't any active Sharders except for the two of us, but it's a good idea to leave a sign for any that may come. -
No surprise from me. I speak Polish as my native language and I know English well enough to communicate as indicated by my presence here

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Mestiv replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
I'm gonna risk a bit and stand in defense of lying people in this situation. Why do people usually lie to those they care about? To protect them (and those around them) from pain of some kind. I honestly believe, that most lies in relationships or friendships are said because the lying side believes it'll be better for the other side and it might be brutal, but they're usually right. Gargoyle's friend confirms it, his/her motives was to "keep Gargoyle safe". Many people also don't realize, that they can't handle the truth and "punish" people that are honest with them. The reaction you give to others when they give you an unpleasant truth is the reason why they don't want to give it. If someone made me dinner that wasn't any good I would tell them that, but only if I knew I wouldn't be punished for being honest. Too many people state that they want people to be honest with them, but when they face the truth they blow up in the faces of those that give it to them. In this case, I might have to face a very bad reaction of someone who made this dinner. So I lie that the dinner was good. Two people are saved from emotional pain at the same time. The person cooking is not hurt and as a result doesn't "hurt" me. And in the end, the fact if the dinner was good or not doesn't change anything, because it is already eaten. If I could count that the reaction would be something like "Oh, ok... Sorry I made you eat that, I'll try harder next time." I wouldn't mind sharing my honest thought about the dinner. However, if I'd have to comfort that person for 15 minutes after I tell them they messed up the dinner, that's just crazy and I'm not fine with that. This is also the reason why I always prefered to have an honest talk with my father than my mother. I've never felt that I'm punished for being honest with him, while it happened sometimes when I confessed something to my mother. So, in contrast to many people, I will say: lie to me, if you believe that it is good for me. I'm not proud of it, but I'm a very good liar, I managed to lie through situations that are hard to believe. That's why I sometimes spot when someone is lying to me. However if I'm aware that it's because someone cares about me, I don't dig in the subject to reveal the ugly truth, I'm not a masochist nor am I on some holy crusade to uncover all lies in the world. I also believe that, if something really matters, that person won't be afraid to tell me the truth as I do my best not to react bad to bad news and not to hurt the messenger. -

Random Stuff VII: The Admins Awaken
Mestiv replied to Young Bard's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
In Poland the notice duration depends on how long you work for the employer. If more than 6 months it's 1 month, if more than 3 years it's 3 months. I will have the 1 month notice, because I signed our current contract less than 3 years ago. -
Random Stuff VII: The Admins Awaken
Mestiv replied to Young Bard's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Sooo, Twi has been sharing with us her job searching adventures for some time now and I know there are some people here with some experience in this matter, so here's my dillema: I'm working in an organization that is mostly filled with university graduates. They usually stay here for a year or two and then move on to another job. I've worked here for 4 years now (since graduation) and became a somewhat important part of the "core" team that's more permanent. However I think it's time to look for a better place to work. Why do I want to leave: There are no chances for promotion. The hierarchy is very simple, there are maybe 3 tiers and I won't get any higher in any foreseeable future. The salary is decent (comparing with my country's average), but I know I could be doing better and there aren't any reasonable chances to get a raise. I simply want to try something new, challenge myself in a new environment. Currently, I'm solely responsible for maintaining 2 projects and I'm responsible for 95% of development of another one. This project I'm developing is reaching a stage when it'll be released for the first time. So I thinks it'll be a good moment to look for other career options, as I'll be able to include this finished project in my CV. I have good relations with my employer and I'd like to make sure that my leaving won't cause too many problems. So when should I share my plans with my boss? Right now, when there is still a lot of time to find someone who will replace me, so I can help with introduction? In a couple of months when I'll start looking for new job? Or as late as possible, when I'll have a solid offer somewhere else? I don't have any experience with looking for jobs or changing jobs. I've started to work here while completing my master's degree as a part-time job, then changed it to full-time and stayed that way. I've as the same question on Workplace StackExchange and the answers were all like: Wait till you have a sealed deal with a new employer. What do you think? -

When you approach you can notice that Argon is just walking by someone, talking. That might suggest Buttercup, that maybe a fist to the facet is not the best greeting for someone capable of verbal communication Argon didn't display aggressive behaviour so far...

I don't think so. Write the scene of your character crossing the checkpoint first (Rainmaker is too busy to greet everyone coming and she's not there, so you don't have to collab with Comatose). That would be a good place to start, then we'll see what next

I speak Polish, that's mysterious enough, isn't it? I also have 6 cats in my home at the moment. Awaiting further instructions That reminds me, the God of Lazy: -
Weirdpersonx: Drainer can have whatever you feel like is worth stealing all I've established so far is that he has "collected" a bunch of pretty girls as his servants and that he lives quite luxurious life, despite being not really that powerful. He's just really good at blackmailing. As for the "official" way of entering Corvallis: I came up with a process and some questions for newcomers to answer and everyone seem to be OK with that, so look at my second Argon post for description of his entry. Of course, you want to use different checkpoint, so you'll change this and that Comatose: Rainmaker meeting with new high epics seems cool. However, if Argon and Rainmaker will meet depends on Buttercup now I wonder if she'll find a way to confirm Argons status without risking a new conflict. I'm very curious how their conversation will go.
