Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Sirce Luckwielder replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
That was great. Good job.Granted. If you walk more than two-hundred steps in a day someone dies for every ten steps more you take. Since you are are aware of how your actions will affect the world, you will feel each of those deaths ripping through your soul. I wish that I could play the piano better than anybody ever could, living or dead. I can hear a song and immediately play what I hear without needing to see the notes and I can add cool flairs and spins on it. -

Granted. You know have Panic Disorder. I wish that me and all of my friends spoke High Imperial as a second language. We can switch back to normal English whenever we want. -
I was looking through my old files on my computer when I found an assignment that I completed for English. Our class was assigned to write a Beowulf Boast based on the techniques used by the Beowulf Poet. Basically, you make the accomplishments of your life seem amazing, no humbleness allowed. To make it interesting, you use massive ammounts of kennings. Kennings are used to replace words with more abstract compounds. For example, "death" may be replaced with the words "sleep of the sword." The two things mean the same, but using "sleep of the sword" hides the meaning in plain sight and makes it sound more poetic. Another technique is to use synonyms to hide what you are saying. I propose a game where one person will make a Beowulf boast (of at least four lines) and the next people will try to guess what character from a Brandon Sanderson book the boast applies to. Whoever gets it right gets to write a new one that people will guess on. If there are more than five wrong guesses, provide some hints, if nobody gets it after ten guesses, just reveal it. For example: When fire comes, I remain. Practitioner of the alloy of senses, I have obtained the highest degree of my calling, Battled the Ending God, And led my people to a new world. This boast is for Spook. I hope that this isn't too confusing. My boast for you to guess is thus: Didact of herbs, I betrayed truth for circles of weath, Living in a society run by a tyrant, My offspring became wielders of weapons. If anybody is interested, here is the Beowulf Boast that I wrote. If you want me to edit in an explanation, just let me know.mif anybody wants to guess on that, they are fine to, just make sure that it is annotated seperate from the other guesses. Here is the explanation of my Boast:

I'm really liking the Epics of Astoria so far. Lucentia can create freaking diamonds. Brightdeath can make light solid and kill people with it. Bloody Mary can see basically anything that goes on in the city. Winterspell owns the river and can turn it to ice basically instantly. The Metal is just simply put, a badchull. Blackwave is a pirate, and a scary one at that. Lightwrought owns the skies. The Adventurer has enough power to keep his illusion of life being a video game. The Destructors are taking an army through diamond walls. And then there is Lockvault, who can steal literally anything, who pays a cashier for food since he doesn't want people to know he is an Epic, then doesn't even get down the street before revealing he has powers.
-
As Lockvault waited for the other Epics reply, he started the process to store the bullets in the other guy's gun. He held them just on the threshold, if he actually took them away, the other Epic would notice the change in the gun's weight and this would turn sour real fast. "Not much to trade, I only just started looting stuff,"the other Epic said. "But I can fast travel." Suddently, the other Epic disappeared, reappearing a couple seconds later. "Cool huh? Most people don't seem to have the hang of it either." What in Calamity? He has a regeneration and a teleportation power? What else does this guy have up his sleeve?" "So, want to team up for a while?" The other Epic asked. As he asked the question, Lockvault felt his danger sense starting. Hurridly, he answered the guy, keeping his eyes on the Epic's finger and ready to take the bullets if he saw it twitch. "Yes." I always prefer to team up when I get the chance. While I have found some information on this area of the . . . game, I haven't met another player. So long as we swear to not harm each other, I think this should work out well." Watching the other Epic intently as he talked, he felt relief as the other man smiled and moved his finger off the trigger of the gun. It didn't matter how many times he faced death, he had always felt that animal fear deep inside of him. He had never had a Prime Invincibility, so if he made a single mistake, he would be done for. So far he had kept ahead of the game, but who knew when his luck would finally run out? "By the way," he said, "my name is Lockvault. My main power is that I have a large . . . inventory. I call it Storage. I also have a perfect Memory. What else do you have besides your teleporting?" He considered telling his new partner about his danger sense, but he figured that if he actually believed that life was a video game, he wouldn't be able to understand how someone could know what another "player" would do before they did it.

I decided to change my profile name to Sirce Luckwielder instead of Sirce Dawnwielder. The first time that I used the name Sirce, it was in a Beowulf Boast English assignment. I had forgotten about it until now. When I reread it I saw how close my name was to matching that first paragraph. I now give you that same English assignment.

Thanks. This was my favorite thing that I have done in English. If you want, I can give an explanation of what this actually means. Most of it is inside jokes with myself, but I think it is still interesting. When I stumbled upon this in my computer files, I was so happy. It is now hanging on my wall with all of my other prized possessions.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Sirce Luckwielder replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you repeatedly think how easy school would be if you were an Epic. Not like doing better and getting better grades, but destroying the school and education process entirely. -
You know what would be a funny character. A guy who goes around and every little thing he does out of the ordinary he thinks might be a new Epic power. "Holy cow. I can smell that burrito from over here! That must be my Epic power, super smell." Then the guy next to him would turn and say "we can all smell that, shut up." Even with that, he would not be deterred and he would kepp looking. When Calamity appeared he wanted to become an Epic so bad. In the end, he realizes that he is an Epic. His curse is not know it. If he ever finds out he will regain all memories of him that were wiped, live for five minutes, then regenerate somewhere else without the memories being an Epic.

Granted. It is the only Magic card you can have. I wish that my iPod would play just the right song to match my mood at any given time. If a song doesn't exist to match my mood, it creates one that sounds awesome to match it. (I also would prefer to me being able to listen to said iPod and for it not to have incredibly low battery life.) -
Or Sanderson is a fairly good writer.

PKing? What the heck is he talking about? Even before Calamity had appeared, Lockvault had never really played video games. His brother had been addicted to the things though. Looking back in his Memory, he found a time when his brother had been trying to explain a game to him. Using the context of the situation, he tried to divine the meaning. The K obviously means kill or I'm as good as dead. Now, p, p, p . . . penguins! No . . . pandas! No, that wasn't it either. People? Of course, that's it. But if he is not into killing people, why did he shoot that random vanilla? "Oh yes, PKing. I too find such actions disagreeable unless another begins the conflict. Tell me, if you haven't seen anybody else so far, then you must not have found any good information books, or people, or whatever." He said, his voice trailing off towards the end. Crap, this is going to be difficult, I'm going to need to find a way to understand how to deal with this guy, and fast. If I can't get on his good side, it won't matter how much ordinance I have stocked up, he can just keep regenerating, or respawning, or whatever it is. "Perhaps if you have something to trade, I can give you what I know in exchange."

Like wallets, he could take that. It is easy and if he sees the bulg in someone's pocket, he can know pretty much where it is. In a quick fight, I don't think he would use sinkholes. It would take too much time to put the stuff beneath the person into Storage in a heated combat. If he decided to do that while he is assassinating someone and has time to prepare, then yes, that is feasible. He would also have two or three other backup plans going in though. Using sinkholes is a good idea, but he couldn't use them very often. It wouldn't be incredibly precise either. He would just think, "I'll take a cylinder of matter that is two feet siameter and four feet of height." He would just hope it didn't take too long.

I always pictured it being replaced by air basically. His power acts like this. He focuses on the object and based on time he needs a specific time to put it in Storage. Once he has had the time limit met it pops out of existence all at once, no in between. If he stops putting it in Storage he will need to start over again. Something lime a bullet takes less than a second, if it is flying he needs to know it's trajectory too. Something like a car or a safe would take a longer, probably thirty seconds to a minute. Anything bigger is usually too big for him to care about, but he has a few things already stored. When he went on his first rampage (is that called the rending?), he could do things a little faster with all of that new power and he placed a few buildings and such inside Storage. If he were to want to drop a car as an attack he wouldn't have the time it was falling to put it in Storage. He would need to bring it to the threshold of being put there and then find some way to push it off a cliff. Once it was falling he could then put it in Storage. So yes, he could theoretically put something he can't see in Storage. He would just need to mentally get it there before walking away. Or, if you were thinking of something like a wallet he would need to know basically where it was, see the bulg and such. Removing something like oxygen would be useless if he replaces it with Oxygen, water on the other hand, would work.

Lockvault watched as the other Epic teleported around one of his bullets, reforming around another one. Feeling a moment of exultation, he was dismayed as his opponent seemed to shrug off the wound and take aim again. Hurriedly, Lockvault sent the grenades that he had in Storage sailing towards the opponent. Using his memory to see their trajectory when they were originally placed, he had them reenter normal reality slightly above his head and two feet behind him. The grenades sailed true, one hitting the other Epic dead on as he tried to dodge. Lockvault felt a moment of exhileration as the Epic dropped dead. "Phew," he panted, "I haven't had a fight like that in a while. That was pretty good. Now that I think of it, I could maybe do with some more." As he looked around the street, he noticed a small beam of light appear in the air and then coalesce into none other than the Epic he had just killed. "Crap, be careful what you wish for." The other Epic walked over to his old body, picking up the rifle. "Idiot," he whispered, "I'm going to have to grab that when I can." Softly, he heard the Epic talking to himself. "Sweet, I love autosave features." "What," he thought, "is this guy crazy?" "So," called the other Epic, "how do you like the game so far." Yep, definitely a loon. Does he think that this all was some kind of game? Best to play along for now. he concluded. Hopefully it will get him to make a mistake. Right now it would be best to slowly walk forward, hopefully he would get in range so he could get the gun. "Oh," he called back, "the graphics are good, but the enemies seem to be O.P." "O.P." he thought, that's the term people use, right. Inching forward slowly, he awaited the Epic's response.

Lockvault watched as the man dodged to the side of him. Wanting to give himself some room as well, Lockvault moved back as well. As he moved, he seamlessly traded out the clothes of his Tagon personality for his more Epic garb. As he donned the cloak, he figured that he may as well fight this idiot in as grand a way as he could. Mentally preparing for the fight ahead, he wrapped his mind around a few bullets from Storage, ready to unleash them at the man should he need them. As his danger sense again blinked on, he saw the man pointing his rifle at him. Smiling, Lockvault started to place the rifle in Storage when it started to radiate light. Startled, he stopped the process and the gun remained in the man's, no Epic's hands. Hurredly dodging to the side, he narrowly dodged the bullet slamming into a parked car next to him. "What in Calamity," he whispered to himself, echoing the dead man's oath. "What have I roped myself into?" Hurriedly clearing his mind as another bullet narowly missed him. Lokvault stood up, sending half a dozen bullets flying back towards the other Epic. Knowing that it would likely take more to combat this Epic, he began preparing to summon a some grenades.

I was thinking about the Metal's ablity to intensify or lessen sound and I was wondering; does he sing extremely girly songs in the shower and use his powers so his macho man reputation is upheld? I can't get that though out of my head.

Lockvault walked out of the store, carrying his last load of bags. He had made five trips from the store with all of the supplies he had bought. To keep his powers covered he had needed to take the bags to an abandoned building and put them in Storage there. The trips took time, but hopefully they would be worth it. As he walked back down the street, he started as a young man suddently appeared at the door of a house. "What in Calamity? Where did he come from?" Lockvault turned. The man he had been passing was staring at a young man who stood on the porch of a house about thirty feet away. The man didn't seem to elicit such a response, he just stood there looking around at the people in front of him. Then, with apparent causualness, the man on the porch pulled a rifle to his shoulder, aiming at the man next to him, and pulled the trigger. "Sparks" Lockvault exclaimed as some blood flew onto his face. No wonder the man had been wary of the stranger with the gun. Did this kind of thing happen normally in this city? As people began to scream and duck for cover, the stranger with the gun began to walk down the street, no emotion showing at the people around him. Feeling the need to be annoying, and wanting to test how the man would respond, Lockvault went up to the man and stopped him with an hand on his arm. "Excuse me, but if you have personal affairs with people, please don't shoot them in a public place. It is very inconsiderate to people like me who might get in the cross fire." The man turned to him. "B, B, B, ughh. Why can't I skip this?" "Excuse me," said Lockvault, "am I really that boring?" In the back of his mind, he felt a slight tingle, announcing his danger sense and making him pause. The man grimanced, looked genuinely peeved. "Well, I suppose that there is another way to mute annoying information NPCs." Now Lockvault's danger sense was screaming at him, informing him that he would soon have lots and lots of trouble. As he began to back away, the man suddently brought the gun to his shoulder, barrel aimed point blank at Lockvault's head. Thinking quickly, his subconscious raced ahead of his thoughts, analyzing the exact trajectory of the bullet and seeing the exact moment that the bullet would fire. As the round came out of the chamber, Lockvault mentally placed it in Storage before it touched him. Such a feat could not have been done by a normal human, not even by most Epics, but with his powers, he had literally dodged a bullet. Seeing him uneffected by his gun, the other man looked astonished. His expression quickly changed. "Finally," he grinned, "my first boss battle." Lockvault, his mind catching up to his subconscious, realized what he had done. He had shown his powers in public. Better to be a known Epic than dead though. Bringing his mind back to the reality, his Memory processed what the man had said. Looking in the man's crazed eyes, he realized that he had bigger problems than revealing himself. Like a flood, his danger sense returned to the back of his mind.

She could not replicate Epic powers. If she sits down ar some construction equipment she would know how to opperate it. If she had a Knighthawk mobile she could take it apart and modify it. That kind of thing. She wouldn't be specific like that. It is more of she can sense how people mean the things they saw and their actions. If someone is lying, if they are genuine. If they are planning to betray someone. That kind of thing. If she sees something that somebody dropped she would know if it was left there on purpose or if it was innocently forgotten.

Here is an Epic that I was thinking of, anybody have any problems or ideas? Thanks. Epic Name: Affinity Real Name: Susan Marks Gender: Female Age: 20 Powers: -Can do anything that she has seen another do. If she sees somebody type their password into a computer she can replicate it. -She knows how to operate anything she comes in contact to. If she hops in a helicopter, she can drive it like somebody who has been practicing all of their life. Even something as small as having a band-aid can give her the ability to do first aid and a little extra. -Empathy: can understand people's reasons for doing things and can recognize their intents.

I love this guy. He is pretty sweet. Here is anorher bit to add to the Pixar stuff going around: Hey, I know a joke! Nighthound walks up to a building and says, "I forgot I placed mines in here and now I am dead." Ha! It is funny because Nighthound gets dead.
-
I was reading up on the old Pixar quotes, taking a walk down memory lane, when I found this gem. "What if Andy gets another dinosaur? A mean one? I just don't think I can take that kind of rejection?" Remind you of anyone?
-
It wasn't until I started seeing the Pixar quotes going around that I realized just how much like Dory Doctor Funtimes is.

I wasn't meaning drowning. If Winterspell can freeze and manipulate the water, he could cause a spike to form in his stomach and destroy his lungs or heart. I think it would be awesome if he can't be killed that way. Winterspell comes up and thinks he can take him out and his icesteel doesn't do anything and he just sits there like, "what now?"
-
With Blackwater and Winterspell in the city, I'd be worried about swallowing something even more deadly than glass: water.
