  1. I'm trying to create a partition for Windows on my MacBook (currently running OS Yosemite). I've tried a VM through VirtualBox (Parallels is too expensive for me), but it's not quite what I want. Edit: Apple's own tutorials on this have not helped me either.
  2. So I'm trying to install Windows on my MacBook Pro (early 2011). I have an ISO made from a download from my school's website, but I can't seem to make my USB drive bootable with that ISO file. Any tips? Any tutorials online haven't been helpful so far.
  3. I've been of the thinking that Dalinar forced the bond right at the end of WoR. I'd be interested to see your sources that swayed your thinking.
  4. I imagine that Renarin felt very alone in his new powers, possibly even thought he was going crazy. Once others came forward, he knew he wasn't alone. Also, being a Truthwatcher, he could see the future, which Vorinism says is of the Voidbringers. The two combined probably made him keep quiet.
  5. Or the worst... Pre-Kaladin Bridge 4
  6. I'm not sure this point will even come up. Right now, the readers know, along with a select few proto-Radiants, but I don't believe that this knowledge will be made public. And both Kaladin and Shallan have living shardblades, not dead, and Renarin is probably on his way to having one as well.
  7. IIRC, because she repressed her memories, she severed her bond with Pattern. I believe that when she said her truth at the end of WoK, this remade her bond with Pattern, thus allowing her to use her blade again. I'm not exactly sure on the timeline, but this is my thought process behind your question.
  8. Isn't this precisely what they do to teleport across the city? Source:
  9. I'm in Bountiful, but my work schedule is not conducive to meeting very often.
  10. Source: Herdazians are one of the other races.
  11. You also have to remember that the events of WoA take place about a year after the end of the first book. And Elend was pretty much the only noble from a major house in Luthadel after the Lord Ruler was killed. A void like that, along with no one else who really wants to rule, equals a pretty easy rise to kinghood. My least favorite characters in the cosmere do not actually come from any of the major villains of the books. I dislike Stick, Hoid and Lift, if only for the fact that none of them are really well fleshed out characters yet, and yet there seems to be a large fandom for each of them. I love hating Sadeas and was beyond ecstatic when Adolin took that into his own hands. Nightblood also gets under my skin, but that's perhaps because I listened to Warbreaker, rather than reading it and possibly didn't get the full effect.
  12. A small theory of mine is that if it is reused by the same person, then no decay happens, but if it is moved to a different person, then it decays further. It would explain Vin's earring, but also raise more confusion.
  13. I've been thinking about these similarities as well, and one thing I've thought of is about compounding. Aons each have a base form, but an adept can add modifiers to strengthen the power or specify specific regions of the body for healing, rather than healing the whole body. A sub-theory then would be that compounders, when they store their feruchemical attribute, add modifiers to the existing atoms that channel the investiture into releasing the feruchemical attribute when burned, instead of the allomantic ability. More on the topic however, I also disagree that drawing or making a model of the atom would never work. However, I agree that ingesting the metal may not be the only way to trigger Allomancy.
  14. This movie was especially cathartic to me in a couple different ways. I moved cross-country, like Riley, and I have a 6 month old daughter, so I felt the last scene twice: once as a parent and once as the child. I think this is Pixar's best so far. Like Peter and Twi said, it provides a unique way to look into our own emotions and deal with them.
  15. Source Edit: added #50, thanks Blaze
  16. It has been confirmed that Heralds cannot Surgebind without their Honorblades, but they do have other powers beyond surgebinding. And as far as I understand it, in order to Surgebind, you need Stormlight. Lift is unique in that she can metabolize food into Stormlight, but she still has to use Stormlight to be awesome.
  17. I believe that that particular illegitimate child is the son of the Veden Highprince shown in Shallan's flashbacks. I am not sure who will actually be chosen to succeed Sadeas, but I think it will happen and it will be important to the plot of the next book. Amaram seemed like a logical choice, but the arguments on this thread have convinced me that I am probably wrong. I don't think Adolin or Kaladin are good choices, if Elhokar is to appoint someone. Regarding Adolin, I believe his arc is heading elsewhere. I'm with Maxal that I think Adolin will revive his dead blade, but I actually don't think his assassination of Sadeas will weigh on him very heavily, at least to the point of affecting the entire kingdom's politics. He did what had to be done, and that may provide the spiritual cracks needed for the future Nahel bond. Kaladin obviously has his own issues and duties that make him less compatible with the position of Highprince. I expect it will be a lower ranked Brightlord that takes the princedom, perhaps one we've seen, perhaps not.
  18. Spoilering everything as we're in General Discussion Harry Potter 7 Spoilers Words of Radiance Spoilers Mistborn Spoilers
  19. The Coppermind quotes the epigraph from Words of Radiance, which indicates that the name was too similar to Voidbringers.
  20. The intent or mandate that is Odium is not inherently evil. Rayse, however, was not a good person when he took up the Shard. As stated in the letter, this is what makes Odium particularly dangerous.
  21. As a fellow audiobook-er (it's a real word, ok?), I feel your pain with Kate Reading. I listened to all of Wheel of Time and Stormlight and she is hard to listen to. Words of Radiance is primarily from Shallan's perspective, so there's a lot of Kate, but you have to press through and get to the end, because it's so worth it. I recommend reading/listening to Warbreaker before WoR though. And another book that Kramer did that I loved was The Shadow of What Was Lost by James Islington. It has an interesting twist that we Sanderfans have come to expect, in my opinion.
  22. It was actually Aladar who was appointed to High Prince after Sadeas killed Yenev. (Words of Radiance Ch. 55 The Rules of the Game). It's the precedent the Kholins and Co use to get the Right of Challenge to take Sadeas down. Edit: Upvote to Moash for literally reading my mind. I had just considered this the other day.
  23. I think what Confused is saying here is that there are different regions to the cognitive realm, one reserved for each planet, that are all interconnected. I was going to contend with the term "gunspren", but I think we'd be arguing the same thing from different perspectives.
  24. True, but in another post, Confused does state that Ati was NOT a good person.
