Books, Movies and Show You Did Not Like

I enjoyed Firefly the one time I watched it, but it isn't that good. I would posit that there are more to its cancellation than timeslot changes. And I never liked the opening theme. The movie was much better... but too little too late. I find the Harry Potter movies to be nearly insufferable. Star Wars The Force Awakens was just merely competent. Agents of Shield is just terrible. -

Kidney problems are very common in cats, due to their high protein diets. What's important is that you recognized something was wrong and took it seriously. As this progresses, you can ask about special food designed with these renal difficulties in mind. -
You'll find that even if you drop everything to help, there are times which, for whatever reason, these same people won't come through for you. That's why backup plans are essential! Also: "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life. " attributed to Sir Terry Pratchet.

Have you seen how many different X-men titles there are? X men gold, X-men blue, uncanny X-Men, all new X-Men, extraordinary X-Men... And that's not including the ones that focus on individual mutants! Fantastic Four have been on decline for a while, but they are always involved in major events. Doctor Doom is very active. The original Thor is still around and plays a big part in events, Avengers and the current Thor comic. He even had a great limited series called the Unworthy Thor. Hawkeye is still around and has a fairly big part to play in the current Secret Empire event. I just do not see the big deal. Characters get stale, you put them on the shelf, replace them or turn them Hydra. It's what you do with characters with decades of near constant storytelling!

Depends. In communities with a dense Mormon population, yes. There is a tendency towards a religious, conservative community that holds more strictly to official and seemingly official church guidance. Outside of such, say in Ohio, for example, it's a bit different. You have to get home schooled folk to get the same effect, since otherwise Mormon influence is not dominant. Also, how do you get "character depth" if you cut off huge swaths of human characteristic like profanities and sexuality? I'm fine if an author chooses not to write about such things, but that in no means makes them superior. Particularly if they then churn out romantic relationships akin to seventh graders trying to figure out if they "like-like" someone.

If you look at sales number, Marvel is not going to "lose its fan base" any time soon. Their sales are in the hundreds of thousands. I would also say that trying to reach marginalized groups that are not represented in comics makes sound business sense. They are opening up a new market for their comics. Calling it SJW is merely dismissive. Not to mention that two characters, Miles Morales and Kamela Khan, are huge properties for Marvel right now. The Ultimates, aside from being diverse, is a fantastic comic that is setting the stage for something huge in the Marvel verse. The Thor comic has been consistently well written and entertaining. The Fantastic Four are not dead. Period. The team is not currently around, but not a single one of them is dead. Only Wolverine and Cyclopes are dead in the X-Men (I don't count Xavier because he has been dead for a loooong time. If that surprises you, keep up). As far as Avengers, only Bruce Bannor is dead. The only main problem I see with Marvel is the principal one with DC: consistent artwork in their titles.

That is the only place where I will eat ham. Everywhere else, ham is gross. -
Unfortunately, it turns out not to be Catholic doctrine. I've added to my original post, but the terms "human flesh" are in fact attached to Jesus and the Eucharist. If you want to go further down the rabbit hole, here's an article from Catholic Answers that tries to explain why consuming the Eucharist is not cannibalism: https://www.catholic.com/magazine/online-edition/are-catholics-cannibals

You are conflating "form" with the thing-itself. To Catholics, Jesus is always God. So, he might have the form of Man (not surprising, since Man was created in his image and likeness) but that does not mean he was a man. There will be disagreement on this point within Christendom, but we aren't interested in a review of the various beliefs, correct? The current focus is on Catholicism. Now, with the "form does not equal the thing" on mind, read the following catechism on the Eucharist. Look particularly on how they say it has the appearance of bread and wine, but is not either of those. Notice how they define "appearance" and despair! https://www.ewtn.com/faith/teachings/eucha1a.htm Further research shows how I am wrong. https://www.ewtn.com/faith/teachings/incaa3.htm

@Ammanas I understand! Some books have to be read at the right time. Here's a picture of part of my collection (with some Mervyn Peake, of course!) And another old picture:

I find your lack of Mervyn Peake indicative of a collapse of civilization as we know it!

You have to be 18, and the really cool stuff are still off limits. Besides, it's fun for you and a friend to each grab a Roman candle and have a Wizard's duel! -

@AngelEy3 How to describe Malazan, huh? That's a tough one... mainly because you can't say what it is about without spoiling the series! But I'll try. Malazan is about a series of in-world historically significant events from the point of view of the people living through them as they are going on. These events are significant on a worldwide scale, and their impact on the shaping of societies are explored as well as the role of history in shaping events.
