  1. Jazz! Favorite biochemist?
  2. I imagine similar to the origin of the Golden Army
  3. You are 17th shard friends with Brandon Sanderson! That ought to speak volumes of your character in a good way! (despite your repeated cries to "exterminate")
  4. Still have not read "The Once and Future King", but it is on my reading list! A couple other examples of mystical creatures having a weird relationship with the future: the Dragon from John Gardner's Grendel was able to perceive the future. Of course, this does not seem to be the case with the Genie who does not know how the conflict between Aladdin and Jafar will end. The other: in John Crowley's Little, Big the fairies remember the future and do not know what happened in the past. Pretty much the reverse of our relationship with the past and future. This seems to fit more with Genie's personality, in that he can "remember" some future pop culture references but does not seem to remember anything in the far past.
  5. You assume that the Klingons are using visual means to find us! Never mind the immensity of space could render such a strategy void until you get close enough, they are no doubt tracking us by means of some radar technology which the nebula, according to science fiction anyway, will be scrambled! Unless YOU are a Klingon, SIR... I demand a Tribble Test!
  6. You enter the nebula to evade the Klingons! Sheeesh, do I have to explain everything?
  7. Maybe... or maybe you guys broke the system!
  8. My workplace is usually very good with system upgrades... but, then again, we actually TEST them and have an exit strategy just in case.
  9. Great, how was I suppose to know you wanted that?!
  10. With a rusty hatchet and a wide-eyed, unblinking stare!
  11. This calls for a celebration!
  12. Papaya if I'm watching the flames consume my enemies' dwellings... blueberry pomegranate if it's breakfast. Favourite way to prepare eggs?
  13. Pfft, that never happened
  14. You're looking at this wrong. You now have a study-partner for Spanish. I mean, Spanish is a spoken language... you need to practice it, and you really can not effectively do so on your own. So quit letting your education suffer! Also, you can not avoid life, so just live it!
  15. Precisely. Let's face it: Twi is not unemployed. The job kinda sucks, but (according to my understanding) she is not in such dire financial straits that she needs to accept what she can get or needs to be around family that she can flee to should the need arise. She currently has the capability to look for something that fulfills her desire for a career and independence from problematic familial relations. She can take advantage of this situation for her benefit! I mean, just think Twi, you are so awesome you can turn down "job opportunities" because they are beneath you! That ought to inspire confidence!
  16. I stand corrected!
  17. Correct, I do not believe there's an actual rule against it (could be wrong), but for some reason many people on the online community frown upon it. I imagine it's because they were never hugged by their mothers and have to make it OUR problem, but that's hardly any of our business *sips tea*
  18. I agree with Kobold. You're early enough in your job search you do not need to despair so. And later on, if you are desperate, I'm sure there will still be "jobs" in that area. I mean, you did not find the listing to begin with because it's not the job you're looking for. The other point to consider: if you get the job, do you want to live in an environment where your mother uses "and I got you a job!" in her litany of guilt trips?
  19. You really won't know until you try. Approach your teacher first and foremost, and be willing to compromise. Making demands tends to put folks on the defensive. Explain your situation and willingness to work with him and whoever else as the case may be to resolve it.Most importantly, do it NOW (or yesterday if possible). The existence of those displays implies (though does not guarantee) that within the school year your class will be doing projects on the Holocaust. It is therefore better to resolve your problem now when it can be done so in a calmer matter then when it shows up again during the stresses of the school year.
  20. Sheesh, what a creep As far as what do I look like? Terrible! I woke up late and have not combed by bed-hair or even had my coffee yet!
  21. “You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.” ― Albert Camus
