Judging by the XD, which is an emoticon in parts of the Internet for , he was just trying to be silly. It'd be like saying to someone working hard, "Gee, why are you so lazy? Ha ha". The humor is in that the opposite is true and everyone knows that, making the statement absurd. This humor also has the greatest potential to be misunderstood. That's how I saw it, anyway.

I imagine this is the case as well. Wax will have a "oh, it's like the missing clips!" moment and we'll have a lark. Also, it serves a world-building purpose as well: it shows/verifies/clarifies that 100 clips are equal to one boxing.

It'd be something like cibadda or a roll cut in half. Basically, if it's not the "sliced bread" you buy in grocery stores and it is grilled, that's a panini. -

A panini is a grilled sandwich made with bread that is not sliced. -

I still kinda believe this is all a bad joke and that David will pop up three days from now and say, "Just joking! You all know I'm immortal!" -

I'll have to check Thursday's Child out. I think I'm only in my David Bowie phase for the past couple of years, which leaves some gems to discover, particularly with the pace I buy new albums For my favorite Bowie song, I think it is officially Station to Station, but I've been returning to Somebody Up There Likes Me a lot recently. I also like some of his collaborations, like All the Young Dudes, or Pretty Pink Rose -

That's a lot of 'ifs' and 'buts' and "sense of identity" for people who are trying to establish their own identity and place in the scheme of things, don't you think? All of what you say may be true, but it does not really resonate without experience, something many lack. Which goes back to what Slowshift has said, "If only it were that simple!" One day it might be simple, but when you go through that developmental stage, nothing is really that simple... even if it all is somewhat simplistic. -

Yes! Lazerus is fantastic, one of my favorites though frankly, after listening to it four times in a row it's really hard to pick out favorites. I'll have to check out Dollar Days again with the Honky Dorey perspective in mind, since something was tickling my brain about that song and that might be it. Blackstar seems to me like he took the style of Young Americans and Station to Station and blended them together with his elderly angst. Turned out very well despite it's insistence on jarring the listener... or maybe because of it, I don't know... this has been the best album I've listened to in a while. Edit to add: Heh... look at how fried our brains are, we can't even spell "Lazarus" right -

Not at all, the other person is usually just as guilty for making it awkward! For example, in your theoretical example of just asking someone out, you posit only two outcomes, but ignore other more likely responses such as: "Huh? What?" "Oh..." "*Quick intake of breath*" *Prolonged pause* And other such reactions which don't really resolve the issue because the subject of your experiment is just as awkward/unsure as you are! It's a madhouse! As far as it getting better in college, it's a yes/no situation. It is easier, but you still have to overcome your own shyness. -

If you want to make things awkward Sure, that might be the perpetual state of adolescence, but it is what it is -

Things could get really awkward really fast. Us Americans are fine with "implied" situations, so even if everyone knew about the crush, it's fine until it is irrevocably confirmed. -

Speaking merely as a poster, reputation can derail a conversation. This could be the mostly benign "Oh, I accidentally downvoted something, please fix it!" "Fixed", the middle ground "How does So-and-So have so much rep! That's crazay!" and the incredibly disruptive, "I got, like, two downvotes and the blaggard will not show himself!" Such interruptions can go on for...ev...er..., and the solution would seem to be: change the culture/how we view Reputation points or turn this Shard car around and get rid of the system.

How does a music store not carry the new David Bowie album? Look, I understand that you are not going to have many of my stranger tastes, but this is a bloody new David Bowie album! You can take some space away from selling Justin Bieber or Adele to have a few copies... I mean, come on! Grumble... I had to go to Wal-Mart to get it... stupid music stores, making me go to Wal-Mart... going to have to take a long hot shower now. -
David Bowie's new album Blackstar. In this album, Bowie makes extensive use of experimental jazz. You'd think he would have done so before, but nope. Before, he did soul and funk.
