Ba-dum, tish OTC painkiller of your choice and a hot bath with epsom salts. Also, start taking stretch breaks during the day; it helps! Can it be with a bazooka? I like bazookas. That happens to me whenever someone has ninja'd me on a post. Oh, also, that little pop-up that says, "Click here to load new posts?" Yeah, that never works. Ahh, I see Wesley has arrived!

OK, I just had a conversation with two coworkers and learned that neither of them have ever heard of Depeche Mode. I AM SO OLD I AM GONNA CRY NOW

I admit that narratively, it's an obvious path, which makes it feel lazy. But all of the prophecy and magical weirdness seems to point to that being the answer. And Dany can't do it all herself - three dragons, three riders. And the dragons being predisposed to liking Targaryens suggests that there need to be three people with Targaryen blood to tame them down and train them up. Dany more or less has Drogon working with her, if not under her control. It's arguable that she's going to have trouble with Rhaegal and Viserion now, as she was the one who chained them up and they are none too pleased about that. She needs help there.

Bran's Greensight allows him to eventually learn the truth about Jon's parentage. (I subscribe to the R+L=J theory.) Jon finds about about Dany's dragons and realizes that dragonfire is the best possible weapon they could have against the Walkers and their army of the dead. He decides to take advantage of his newfound family tie to her, seeks her out, and proceeds to give her an infodump. The wounds from his death are pretty good evidence that there's something funky going on here, plus the dragons instinctively like him because he's a Targaryen. (I am also amused/intrigued by the other fan theory that's floating around that suggests that Meera is actually Jon's twin sister, and thus the third Head of the Dragon. Howland Reed was the only other adult besides Ned Stark who survived the Tower of Joy - what if there were two kids born, and Ned took one and Howland took the other? They REALLY did an interesting casting job in the show with those two actors looking an awful lot like each other...)

The Official Thread of Relationships
Kaymyth replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
Heh. I saved myself for college. (College makes all the difference, I tells ya.) Silly Mistrunner. You have a ton of friends! Just because we haven't met you in RL doesn't mean we aren't real. It's wishful thinking. Or...well I suppose there might be some folks out there really getting that much, but most of them are lying liars who lie. I didn't even meet my husband until I was 31. He and I both stumbled through a lot of relationships, good and bad, before we finally found each other. Don't worry, you've got PLENTY of dating to do and lots of time to do it in. -

Delete comments, block, and don't give them another bit of your brainspace. Don't engage, because that's exactly what they want. Just kicking them out and denying them further access will enrage them far more than anything you could say to them. -
I really think that things are eventually going to come to a head where Dany learns about the White Walkers and joins up with Jon to drive them back. She's not going to have to conquer Westeros - she's going to come in and save their sorry butts.
-
Um...later? ish? Erm, it'll be a couple seasons, I think.
-
Huh. I looked minutes after you posted that status, and you were in the 25,600 range. Whatever happened did so in a pretty narrow window of time.
-
Yeah, it's not as good or quite as coherent as it was in the early seasons. But in the later seasons you get Charlie! And she is awesome. And really, it's hard to complain about quality when really I'm just sticking around to ogle Dean and Cas. (Sam is kinda meh for me.) Heh. I really doubt they'd do that. And...honestly, I checked the top rep screen when you posted that status update, and you look to be about the same level as you were. So either something happened REALLY fast or you just misread your number.

The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!

It depends on the carrier, really. Some will give you free or discounted phones in return for signing up for a 2 or 3 year contract. Others (like T-Mobile) will do it the way yours does. -

Never, ever, ever, EVER let me touch your phone. I have an anti-Apple bioelectric field. I don't even have to push a button before the device starts doing something weird and errory that the owner swears it's never done before. -
Yep! Even now, though, I sometimes have throwback dreams to trying to find where class is or something. It's especially annoying when it's high school, but I know perfectly well how old I am and how much experience I have, and dream-me is confused as storms as to why I'm even expected to be there in the first place.

Frontline for dogs works really well; Frontline for cats is kind of crap. IME, Revolution works a lot better on felines. It can take a couple months of treatments, but generally you don't have to flea-bomb the house if you can cut their life cycle off with the topical medication. Leia managed to get fleas something awful last year (I blame the neighborhood bunnies). It took 3 months of steady treatment with Frontline before the house was flea-free. We didn't have to do anything ridiculous to the house; just vaccuum regularly and wash her bedding in hot water a few times. -
Not to mention the fact that it's local. There is an evil villain lurking in our midst! Behold his face, for you may see it in such a common place as your neighborhood grocery store! THE HORROR! Yeah, Cognizantastic, I hope you guys are ready to be interviewed on camera.

I'm going to second Twi - you have power. The power of the Press. Sit down and write up a full detailing of exactly what happened when. Include names and dates. Every specific incident. Describe in loving detail exactly how he tried to extort your club. Then list all of the fundraisers that the guy has killed. Then send a copy of it to every news organization in your metropolitan area. Newspapers, magazines, TV stations, radio stations - EVERYBODY.

How does Brandon determine which cons he goes to?
Kaymyth replied to natalie.perkins's topic in General Brandon Discussion
There are a lot of factors that go into it, but the number one thing is that the con has to actually invite him as a guest, fly him in, etc. Different cons will often focus on different genres/media, so there's a wide variety out there. The larger the con, the more guests they can afford to have. Then you also have factors like schedule; working around his signing tours, the classes he teaches, and family. Not to mention the fact that he needs to have time to write. Nobody can do every con; it's just not possible. Many authors will have "favorites" that they attend regularly (for Brandon, JordanCon is definitely high on that list) and then try and spread the rest of their convention allotment out and move around so they get a chance to visit different places and different fan enclaves. -
Here's the thing: everyone's first stories are terrible*. Just unabashedly, irrevocably terrible. But you need to write them anyway, because for a while, the end result isn't the point. The point is practice. The point is learning. The point is finishing a story, going back through it, acknowledging that it is terrible and finding all of the things about it that are terrible so that you learn what not to do next time. So if you never finish a story because it is terrible, you will never get the terrible endings out of your system, and soon you will be left with great story beginnings that you have no idea how to end satisfactorily. * Yes, including mine. The difference is that I got all of my terrible out of my system back in the days when MUSH RPs were a thing and I learned all of the lessons about being terrible and then got rid of all of the evidence of my terribleness. Muahahaha!

Oooh Right. Um. I'll have to think of something then. (I seriously have no idea what I'm doing with Camp NaNo this year yet.)

In which case a good chunk of my dad's side of the family will be able to band together and save everyone; I won't be alone! (This thing is genetic.)

I just flat-out can't take them. Or, well, I guess technically I can but they don't do me any good. I'm pretty much immune to opiods.
-
Yeah, we're shooting for a non-surgical solution right now. Neither of us react too well to heavy-duty painkillers, so we'd prefer to keep the ouchies to a minimum.

I noticed that as I aged, my body's hormone balances shifted and I had to switch around to a couple of different pills. What worked for me in my twenties was completely awful by the time I hit my thirties. Seriously considering getting an IUD this year. I'm old enough that the risks associated with hormonal pills are rising, but still young enough that accidents can happen very easily if we don't use anything. Probably won't be "safe" to go off of everything until I'm about 50.
