  1. Say you are a tech guy pulling a customized report for someone else in your company. You are having trouble getting the data to make sense. Do you: A - ask a supervisor and/or coworker for input? B - ask the person (me) who requested the report what exactly she needs and if she can help? C - work on the thing for hours on your own and fight with things and stare at the screen and generally continue to poke things, cluelessly, until the person who requested the report gets antsy because she needs the gorram thing two hours ago and is only just now learning there is a problem because she is bothering you about it? If you chose C, you might work for Redacted, Inc.
  2. Oudeis has actually done this, with excellent results.
  3. I would just apply that to the existence of peanut butter entirely. Yuck.
  4. Thank you. I didn't want to think that you would. That does make me feel somewhat better.
  5. Upvotes are to give out as you see fit. There is, however, a quota in place - they're not unlimited. If you run out, you'll have to wait till the next day's quota reset to upvote more.
  6. For some reason it doesn't bother me to use this in text, but out loud just sounds idiotic.
  7. *sigh* If this is it (and I rather suspect that it probably is), I'd...kind of prefer not to see the behind-the-scenes stuff get aired. Because from the point of view of someone who is actually friends with everyone involved, there is nothing about this situation that does not make me sad.
  8. Don't overlook the fact that sooner or later, Hoid seems to be capable of torking off every single soul in the known universe.
  9. Well, I'd prefer to lose a lot more weight before wearing a bikini than it'd take to squeeze back into that chain. (But it's totally on my list.)
  10. I'll be cosplaying the heck out of the entire con, and a lot of those costumes work better with long hair. Especially the Zelda: Warrior Princess costume. I should fit back into my chainmail by then.
  11. Correct, it is not. ....but totes read it anyway.
  12. Nah, that one was pretty obvious that he was dodging around it. Hence us all laughing as he did it. The one I'm referring to is where he told us that he wriggled out of something and we didn't know it.
  13. Whoa, can we get stuff behind spoiler tags? The transcripts are LONG, and the divided breakdown could use hiding just so people who haven't caught up on one book series or another don't get spoiled on things.
  14. Wow, everyone! You ripped right through transcribing that thing like a bunch of rock stars! Reposting the link for non-transcribers to take a look: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1J43km7wrrZnOuM2WJe2DpBsk_C0E6yLJ8bDxqfen-P4/edit Now if we could only figure out which question he wriggled out of...
  15. For anything that's not fandom-related (and thus not really worthy of the gallery) I just upload things to Photobucket and use the Image tool to hotlink them into my posts.
  16. You should post this up in the JordanCon thread on the Events & Signings board so that Weiry can get it cataloged properly. ETA: Or...just one of the threads there. Sorry, I saw a recent personalized signing and immediately assumed "JordanCon" 'cause it just happened. But that totally isn't the case 'cause you got a RAFO card there, and Brandon accidentally left them at home last weekend. NONE of us got cards. It was sad. But also good, 'cause con.
  17. Bwahaha! Ruro and I got another one!
  18. So many bits to re-do on my armor before Costume Con...

  19. I think Ruro said he recorded at least some of the signing. I don't know how quickly he got his recorder in; I don't recall there being any on the table when I got the Terris food question answered. But I was right near the beginning of the line, so there were fewer than half a dozen people ahead of me.
  20. OK, guys! I have the audio file uploaded to my Google drive. Here's the link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-_s_3rsy9hGZTFGbi1DdHlSemM And the link to a new Google doc for transcription: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1J43km7wrrZnOuM2WJe2DpBsk_C0E6yLJ8bDxqfen-P4/edit Sorry, guys, I haven't done a lick of work on it myself yet. Please leave comments so that I can track who did what. Also...there are a couple of things that I asked Brandon outside the RAFOlympics panel. Alas, I did not get audio of these things, so they are the dreaded paraphrase. I'm sorry. I'm doing my best to write down what he said without injecting any feelings or speculation into it. The big one is this (and really, I'm truly sorry for not recording this, but the Magic tournament was a bit chaotic): I asked him about what the board refers to as "reverse" compounding - i.e., using Feruchemy to enhance Allomancy, rather than the other way around. I wanted to make sure that it was reall a thing that exists, and he said that it was. I followed up by asking, "Is this what the Southern Scadrians have been doing?" His answer: "It's similar, but not exactly the same." Ruro272 was there when I asked this one, so he can probably confirm that this is repeated accurately. I also asked him about Terris food at the signing. (Yes, this was a burning question inside my soul. Don't judge me.) He said that he imagines it to be like Mediterranean food. He also allows that it could totally involve noodles.
  21. There's also liable to be a big difference in historical coverage in Ireland vs. Northern Ireland.
  22. This post should serve for all of your etiquette and rule-learning needs: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6-a-welcome-to-17th-shard-and-the-rules/
  23. He's a good lad. Either way, you are now one of us! Also, a quick tip in local forum etiquette - it's generally considered bad form to double and triple post. It's generally best to use the Multiquote function if you need to respond to multiple people, and if you have anything to add that you forgot and nobody else has posted, just use the edit button.
  24. Yeh. If I'd been thinking about it, I'd have had my recorder just save in MP3 format to begin with. Ah, well, live and learn.
