  1. I...I've heard of Wenatchee before. I've heard of a lot of oddball towns in the US and Canada thanks to work.
  2. Don't even ask me how the people of Versailles, MO pronounce their town's name. It makes me want to cry. MO also has such gems as Paris, New London, Cuba, Vienna, Houston (the county seat of Texas county, no less), and then I grew up in Memphis, MO, which is in Scotland County and about 20 miles down the road from Lancaster. Speaking of Memphis, I'm about to head up there now. Visitation today, funeral tomorrow. Silver lining: I think this will be the first time in about 20 years that we've gotten the entire First Cousin Dozen in the same place at the same time.
  3. Multiple melodies. The arrangements are usually 4-6 different voice lines.
  4. Not officially. One of the earlier drafts of the SoS sample chapters that were up way back when actually has him thinking of her as his wife, but it's edited out in the published version. (I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)
  5. It is; he's specifically called double-gold. Of course, in-world most people don't even know Hemalurgy exists, let alone its ability to enhance Metalborn powers one already has. Colloquially, it would almost exclusively be used in the Twinborn definition.
  6. A Renaissance-era song for voices with no accompaniment, often with a lot of musical counterpoint in the lines.
  7. Smart answer. Everyone is allergic to Voidus's cookies...
  8. I'm carefully planning my shark-jump moment with the Eva stories. After the first book, I've got two more and a short story plotted out. The short story happens between 2 and 3, and I fully expect cries of both glee and indignation when people read it.
  9. When I say "all over Facebook" that's Kaymyth Hyperbolizing for "one of my DW-crazy FB friends posted the link to the article on her feed."
  10. And said article is getting shared all over Facebook.
  11. You're famous! And you weren't even gonna tell us. Nope, just waited for one of us to stumble upon it on our own...
  12. Holy rusting fish sticks. Kobold King! Was that YOUR Reddit theory that just got featured in the Radio Times?!
  13. This question has been asked (of Brandon) before, and I believe that the general consensus is that steel and iron do exert friction on the objects they affect. bwahahaha! I edited so quickly you'll never know what I misspelled!
  14. What is Terris food like? This question has bugged me ever since I read the bit where Marasi mentioned to Wax that you could order out for it at any time of night in Elendel.

I like prawns. And noodles. Can there be noodles?

      There should be noodles.

  15. That is...not even in the same ZIP code as where I was going with that. ETA: Lark, I know you're nervous to do it, but I really encourage you to talk to someone. Your school counselor, band director, someone. The lack of medical attention goes straight past clueless and into the realm of parental neglect. Helping you is part of your teachers' jobs.
  16. I'd say, "Give me their number," but the things I'd say to them would probably just get you into trouble.
  17. There is nothing wrong with a good, solid B. *hugs* And...a plantar's wart? That she won't take you to the doctor for?! I had one of those in junior high; they hurt!
  18. Why did I think that BoM was early January instead of late January? Gah!
  19. I'm a little over 2/3 of the way through Elantris, and I have this to say: Wow. Hrathen, you [profanity redacted].

Finished it last night. OK, Hrathen, you've promoted from [censored] to idiot. Yes, you did the right thing in the end, but dagnabbit it took you way too freakin' long to get there!

  20. OK, see, now you're directly comparing me to one of my favorite authors, and I'm just not arrogant enough to be comfortable with that. Hee! I figured that's what was going on. You blitzed through a bunch over the weekend, and then Monday rolls around and <flormp>. Don't feel too bad. I've got another who's only managed to get through the Prologue (as far as I can tell) so far, probably because she, y'know, has a baby occupying her time. Mostly, I'm hoping to be done with the beta phase by the time Bands of Mourning comes out. Because, let's face it, I cannot hope to compete with the real stuff for your time and attention.
  21. It should be the sum, but Preservation was really the one who had significant precognitive abilities. That's how he was able to plan Ruin's eventual defeat, so I'm not really sure that Ruin had much to add to that.
  22. Hee. Right now, it's mostly corrections (minor grammatical stuff, phrasings that are off, etc.) but a couple of them are really good about making entertaining comments about stuff that's going on in the story. ThirdGen is particularly hilarious. This should surprise nobody.
  23. Every time my phone tells me I have a new e-mail notification about comments added to the Google doc, I get excited. There's a pile of new ones to read when I get home! YAY BETA READERS! (I acknowledge that I might have a problem.)
  24. Well, it sure makes me feel old. (whippersnapper!)
  25. That's 'cause so many of us uncultured 'Murricans can't tell the difference. Disclaimer: I can totally tell the difference between Australian and British accents. I'm even getting to the point where I can pick out the differences to ID a South African accent. I cannot, however, discern the difference between Australian and New Zealand accents. Therein lies my fail.
