  1. Oo, look! A Baldur's Gate fan! Either as an accountant or just as someone who enjoys filtering through mounds of information to solve a mystery. I bet that woman could murder a jigsaw puzzle. It's kind of interesting, actually, seeing some of the similar personality traits presenting in different ways between the two sisters. Marasi is a veritable encyclopedia of statistics; in her own way, she's as thorough and detail-oriented as Steris.
  2. It's at least obliquely referenced in the wedding scene in Alloy of Law, though it's not 100% clear.
  3. She does, at least, have Marasi. In spite of their differing situations, they seem to be pretty close sisters. It's just that in this case, Marasi may not know much more than Steris.
  4. Except that on Scadrial, don't they exchange necklaces instead of rings?
  5. It's like he doesn't have a clue that she's actually falling for him. Oh, wait...he probably doesn't.
  6. I suspect she's passed away, since Marasi's mother had managed to delude herself into thinking for a while that she might be able to snag Lord Harms as a husband.
  7. Wow. That short bit was a veritable treasure trove of information on the governmental structure of the Basin. More. I need more. Steris continues to be made entirely of awesome. It's good to see Wax acknowledging this.
  8. ...everything makes sense now.
  9. Well, that's the thing. If he stuck around for too long, people would be on to his immortality. They'd all want a piece; he needed to sneak off quietly. At least he left us a good-bye album. In all seriousness, one of my friends said it most appropriately: "The rest of us will have to be a lot more clever and strange in order to keep up with the demand." I, too, will be popping Labyrinth in soon. Probably tonight.
  10. *looks around her cube at all of the tiny plush unicorns and other toys* I don't think it worked.
  11. OK, guys, as much as I appreciate being appreciated, I am most definitely not the only adult around here. The admins work hard to keep this place running smoothly, and I am not comfortable with how easily folks are (even jokingly) trying to place me on some level above them. Please don't.
  12. I know, right? Silly people. I can change my member title, but I can never escape being the Mom.
  13. And Honor died while still heavily Invested in Roshar. That would suggest that the spren are bound to Roshar through that connection.
  14. I've found that the Shard breaks every negative rule of the internet, and does it with a spring in its step and a song in its heart. One of the many reasons I love this place. It's nice to be the oddball token neopagan and not have a bunch of people quietly trying to sidle away from me. Sadeas + Chasmfiend = OTP. I'm just sayin'.
  15. They are the best. things. EVER. Heated beds and hot showers are the only things that keep me from spending the entire winter in a constant state of hypothermia.
  16. It's bad enough down here. It was two degrees this morning. Two. You looked outside, and there those poor little lonely degrees were, just sprawled out on our front steps. The first thing you need to invest in for a northern Iowa apartment is a heated mattress pad.
  17. Wayne is the best. I kind of have a hardcore crush on him. (I have a really weird type.) Steris is completely insane, and she's also awesome. You'll appreciate her particular brand of awesome even more in Shadows of Self.
  18. And yet nobody has ever enacted this awesome scene, yet people win the lottery on a regular basis. (This in no way indicates that any of us are likely to win the lottery anytime ever.) I say again, statistics are weird.
  19. Oh, sure. Go ruining all my hyperbole-ridden fun.
  20. Statistically, yes. Though statistics are weird. Eventually, there will be so many people buying tickets that it'll be statistically likely to have multiple winning tickets hit the jackpot.
  21. My workplace is running a pool. I chipped in just for the heck of it; there's a next-to-zero chance that we'll actually win. And the reality is that even if someone gets the jackpot all to themselves, they almost certainly won't get a billion. Setting taxes aside, you only get the full amount if you take it in an annuity. The full cash option drops it about in half. Still...that's a lot of money.
  22. Yeah, I think it'd be best to create a new thread for it over on the RP subforum. It'd be nice to keep this thread for new members joining and sharing projects.
  23. Oh...huh. I hadn't seen that bit of chatter, I guess.
