    Hopefully someone will get back to you today and get you the info you need. It's actually pretty common to be allergic to one and not the other - usually people aren't allergic to the fur itself, but the proteins the animal produces and the dander. In fact, cat allergies seem to be a lot more common than dog allergies.

    James started playing Portal 2 today. I keep trying to do stuff and getting distracted by the hilarious evil AI trash-talking. Also, murderous gun turrets should not be that adorable.

    They really are. You've gotta appreciate having people in your life who demand reading about someone riding a jackalope into a battle with a ballista attached to its antlers. I'm not sure how I'd feel about being called by Kelsier's wife's name. (And yeah, my name is Rosemary. I have issues with nicknames out of it, mostly due to childhood teasing trauma. I have, however, been known to respond to someone randomly calling me "Red" and at conventions will definitely respond to the name of whatever character I happen to be cosplaying at the time.)

    My first name is 3 syllables long. All the nicknames are terrible. There are no permissible nicknames. Just imagine what he'd do with a jackalope. (Fun fact: in helping me come up with entertaining fauna for my fantasy series idea, my friends have made me promise to include giant war jackalopes.)

    Hey, now! I live in Kansas! He'll almost certainly be back in KC for WorldCon in August. Of course, that's on the MO side of the state line, but close enough. (Having a metro area that is pretty evenly split between two states and four counties is weird.)

    Yeah, but I'm just talking about balancing out alcohol-induced dehydration, which is generally what causes the worst of a person's hangover symptoms.

    I'm such a lightweight that I don't need more than a glass or two of water to keep things balanced out. Eeesh. Gin war. That sounds dangerous. I suspect that nobody won that conflict.

    There are other solutions to that. Like remembering to drink water intermittently, and drink an extra glass of H2O before going to bed.

    I'm not so much teasing as gloating. 'Cause when they both come to you independently and ask if the other is single/would it be a good idea to ask them out, that is totally some matchmaker cred, yo.

    Further Scenes From A Nerd Household: I get home. James comes downstairs to greet me and asks if I have to work tomorrow (there was some confusion as to who was covering this holiday). Me: *gleefully* "Dobby is a FREE ELF!" James: *manages to hold a straight face for all of three seconds before he dissolves into laughter* We appear to now be mostly ready for company. ThirdGen and another friend* of ours are coming over for New Year's festivities. *This friend is a girl whom I introduced to ThirdGen some months ago. They are now daaaating.

    Just nicked all over and really, really dry. I've only got about 130 more widgets to program, package, and send out. Out of the original 750, that's good progress. Eeeugh. Aside from actual blades, the worst I've gotten was a cut off a glossy, coated poster. That one took a while to heal. It's not that I have any sort of moral objection to gaining new scars on my hands. I'd just prefer they be from doing cool things, like working on cosplay projects.

    The project at work I've been working on for the last 5 weeks has involved handling a lot of cardboard boxes. Things I've learned: * Yes, you can get paper cuts off of corrugated cardboard. * Yes, those paper cuts are worse than normal paper cuts. * You can also get fun scrapes and nicks, too! I feel like I need to just soak my hands in Bactine for the next three days.

    Well, he then proceeded to nudge the thermostat up to 72 for me. He's a kind soul. (Chasing me away also got me out of finishing help load the dishwasher.) Which side? The chaser or chasee? What's even more fun is when you do know where they're going, and they proceed to go and do something completely different of their own accord. Wait! Come back! You're ignoring the plot!
