  1. Shallan demonstrated that you can even have it be sword-shaped and not sharp. And I absolutely think you can be a Radiant and be unwilling to fight. The First Ideal is very open to interpretation and doesn't preclude refusing combat. That said, I think a pacifist is unlikely to attract an ashspren given their love of breaking stuff. It just seems like there would be a mass personality and philosophy clash there.
  2. Idk 120k of making out seems excessive to me.
  3. Nah it's not FTL, it's just taking a shortcut.
  4. I'm one of the major proponents of Rlain for Bondsmith. And definitely want to see more singer Radiants in general. I bet Venli will have singer squires eventually.
  5. The only clue we have as to how Nale might have got NIghtblood is that the Nightwatcher seems to have had it at one point, based on what she said to Dalinar.
  6. I think it was always theoretically possible, it's just that it's very difficult and the right circunstances hadn't happened.
  7. I don't think reviving Honor has any bearing on reviving dead spren. In any case, Maya is a cultivationspren, and thus much more heavily connected with Cultivation, who is still alive.
  8. I personally think he'll have to form a nahel bond to revive her, but there's no reason he couldn't start a school of sorts while being a Radiant. Not all Radiants will be on the front lines, and even the ones that are sometimes on the front lines won't be there all the time. And starting a school with the goal of reviving dead spren is a very Edgedancer thing I think. And I also want to see the spren react to Maya being revived. Especially as I think there's more to the story of the Recreance then we and almost everyone in-universe knows.
  9. This fits with my thoughts about Adolin. He's been more or less focused on being what people expect him to be,and hasn't really thought about what he wants to be.
  10. No, I mean on the asexual spectrum (ace, grey-ace, or demisexual).
  11. I mean dead Plate is still very useful yes,but Radiant Plate doesn't need to be lugged around and may have other useful features that wed don't yet know about.
  12. I dislike the Kaladin/Jasnah ship immensely because they just don't have anything in common, they've interacted once on screen, and it feels like people are just pairing them off because they are unpaired major characters. Also I headcanon Jasnah as ace-spec and aro-spec but that's just my personal headcanon. Honestly Kaladin/Adolin and Kaladin/Renarin are the only common ships for Kaladin that don't annoy me. And I don't even headcanon Kaladin as gay or bi. I just dislike every common m/f pairing for him for various reasons. (I do headcanon Adolin as bi and having a one-sided attraction to Kaladin because honestly his thoughts about Kaladin in OB just read very strongly of that to me butagain just my headcanon).
  13. I prefer Shallan/Adolin, but Kaladin/Adolin is great fanfic fodder.
  14. I don't feel like that would be very narratively satisfying personally, but we've previously established in other threads that we don't have the same opinions on what would be narratively interesting/satisfying. I'm just a sucker for happy endings and the power of friendship.
  15. I think the way the gemstone works is a consequence of her current state and that kind of connection would not work with a living spren. But as I said above,I believe it is indeed necessary to form a Nahel bond to revive a dead spren though that's strictly speaking speculation. I think ti's good speculation though (obviously). And again, I don't think a living spren is capable of becoming a sword at all without the bond to draw them into the PR. They just don't have any real Physical presence on their own and have to draw that off a Physical being. @Calderis has a theory that, essentially the dead spren are stuck in a state where they are 'supposed' to have a Physical aspect available to draw on, but don't, so the Investiture necessary for them to be able to manifest physically is being drawn from their minds instead. I think it's a good theory myself. I think that's extremely unlikely, as based on Syl's comments I think what happened between the humans and the singers was known among the spren, to some degree at least, and was only a big secret from the humans. But that's getting off topic.
  16. I'm of the opinion that it will require a Nahel bond between them to fully heal her since she died because her previous bond was 'ripped out'.You'd have to restore that to restore her. Granted he might lose access to her as a sword temporarily because living spren can't manifest as a Shardweapon without a strong enough bond, but it might also be that their bond will progress differently and she'll be 'stuck' in sword form until he swears the Third Ideal. I personally think the latter is more likely currently but that's pretty speculative.
  17. I absolutely expect it to be something he has to work for in some way, and I do agree that the narrative will work better that way. Seems like we agree in general but may have different expectations about exactly what form that work may take. I don't really think any new terrible things need to happen, I think there's things related to the past and Adolin's relationship with Dalinar that he's going to have to wrestle with.
  18. Lift is the Edgedancer flashback character, and was the one included in the Radiant count off but that doesn't mean there can't be other Edgedancers that play an important if secondary role in the plot.
  19. People..are allowed to have strongly felt opinions about what will happen in future books. Obviously we don't actually know what will happen, but we have strong opinions about what will happen. Generally I read "X is going to happen" in these discussions as "I think X is going to happen". People tend to phrase things strongly when they feel strongly about them. And we are all here because we love these books and have strong feelings about them. Otherwise we wouldn't bother right? We could hedge our bets and say "I think" all the time, but this is a fan forum not a scientific conference requiring that level of rigour.
  20. It's called having a discussion and neither my nor Calderis's posts were originally addressed to you anyway, we were responding to Calyx.
  21. There are definitely hints in OB that he has some underlying issues with self-confidence despite all his advantages. He may already be 'broken' in that sense, you don't have to be as much of a trainwreck as the main three Radiants to be 'broken' (nor is being 'broken' 100 percent necessary though it does make it more likely you'll be able to bond a spren).
  22. I think of Tavi as a Bondsmith or Edgedancer personally. He's great at uniting people, and he also has a habit of listening to people that nobody else listens to (which is HOW he manages to unite several very different species against a threat).
  23. I want to point out that Brandon has said it's not actually 100 percent necessary for a person to be 'broken' to become a Radiant. That said, I do expect finding out what really happened to Evi to have a major impact on Adolin in book 4 and it will probably play into his arc with Maya.
  24. Yeah, he's said that generally reviving a dead spren is really hard (but not impossible), but he has RAFO'd any questions about Adolin and Maya specifically. And I think what happened at the end of OB is strongly suggestive that the process of revival is starting.
  25. Might be a matter of taste and we'll have to agree to disagree, cause I don't think it does.
