Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
little wilson replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Can't really say I was surprised. Kurk and I both said they were the Seekers. If you recall, I didn't want to vote for either one of them, as I would've much preferred to go with Kurk's idea. But, given that it was between Beetle and Edgar, and I was more certain that Beetle wasn't Spiked, it was a better shot to go with Edgar. I'm still skeptical that it's wise to plan his murder tomorrow when there's still a good chance he is what he says. Personally ,I think we should probably wait and see who he Seeks tonight (Maill did volunteer himself), and what he finds, before tossing him under the bus.- 462 replies

Act superior or condescend? Other than my unintentional sarcasm in that post earlier, I'm pretty sure I haven't been doing either. When I say "forced," I'm referring to the deal you made with both Aether and Clancy. They vote with you today, and you'll vote with them tomorrow, for Edgar. Reading between the lines in the initial post to Clancy, there was a "I don't trust you, but if you change your vote to coincide with mine, we can be friends for now and I won't accuse you." Whether or not you meant it like that, I have no idea. But the fact is that both of them are only voting the way they are because you told them to. Also (and this is just me being a brat), that wasn't caps lock. It was just shift. Caps lock probably would've been easier though, in retrospect. And you're right. I am having a certain amount of trust that Gambles is telling the truth. I think he is though. There are a few roles that are only villager roles. And I'm pretty sure we've got one of each role. If all of us have been telling the truth, that puts me, you (Darnam), and Jason as regular villagers, no powers. There might be one or two more, Gambles being one of them, if he's telling the truth. I'm willing to bet he is (his gambling habits are rubbing off on me, I guess). So, I don't know. I just find it highly unlikely Beetle would guess correctly given that there's already one reg villager dead and two more alotted for (even if he didn't know it at the time). And Maill, I'm flattered! You don't have to do that though. I don't think I'm going to die during a day cycle at this point. I actually think I'm a goner either tonight or tomorrow night. I'll be shocked if I make it beyond that. Truly and completely flabbergasted. EDIT: I'd love to see that crossover fight. Two billionaire playboys with their respective hightech suits turning them into superheroes duking it out? Yes. I'm still going with Iron Man, though. Yeah, I know. It's Batman, and Josh will probably string me up by my toes when he sees me on Saturday, if he sees what I've said here about Batman, but ya know? I don't care. My love for Iron Man barely supercedes that of Batman. Even if I like Christian Bale slightly more than RDJ.- 462 replies

Dude, if the roles were reversed, I'd probably be doing the exact same thing. It's the logical conclusion. You're wrong, but....you don't trust me, and that's chill. I think the part I find the funniest, is that because you just voted for me, all of a sudden, I trust you as much as I currently trust Beetle. Although, I think your last post about offering yourself up has a lot to do with that stamp of approval too.... EDIT: No. It's Iron Man. Batman is a VERY close second, but it's Iron Man.- 462 replies

Called it! Oddly enough, this makes me absurdly happy. Also, I just want to say that this game is a LOT easier when you're playing in person. I've played a ton of Werewolves the last couple of months (especially on New Years Eve/Day), and maybe it's just the group I play with or that it's in person, but it's a lot easier to figure out who's guilty when they're sitting right in front of you. Playing online ups the difficulty to an almost insane level.- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
little wilson replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Kurk, that was precisely what I meant. It's obvious by this point that either Beetle or Edgar are going to die, so advocating a path in which neither would is beyond pointless, even if it's the better course of action. I personally don't see the point of us killing the seekers. One of them is a seeker. And I'm fairly certain that it's Beetle. My evidence isn't just a gut feeling. He provided proof in the form of Gambles. Sure, he hasn't found a Spiked yet, but we've got what? 14 people in the game at this point? Something like that? With a maximum of 4 Spiked? And he's only had 2 nights. And it's not like the Seekers (assuming both are in fact Seekers) could coordinate, and it seems like they both seeked (is it sought in the case? I'm genuinely curious. What is the past tense of Seek in Mistborn terms?) Jason last night. The point is, we're about to kill our seeker--our only REAL chance of figuring out who the Spiked are, without random (albeit logical) guessing. You don't have to go along with me and kill Edgar. However, if you're actually a villager, you probably aren't making the wisest decision in choosing to kill Beetle. It's not about finding conclusive evidence that he's Spiked. It's about there being PRETTY SOLID evidence that he's not. Also, sorry about the demeaning, antagonistic part. As I re-read that, I did get rather sarcastic. That wasn't my intention. And the "To kill a villager" was in reference to Beetle. And I feel it necessary to point out that just because you're controlling how Aether and Clancy are voting doesn't mean they trust you. I'm pretty sure both of them have stated that they don't; they're just voting because someone has to show good faith first. Neither of them (from what I've seen) suspect Beetle the most. Clancy would rather vote for Edgar today, I'm pretty sure. You're forcing them into killing someone they don't actually want to kill right now. If you go back and read their posts, you'd see that. After having said all that, I'm not saying you're Spiked. I'm actually fairly certain you're not. But that doesn't mean I trust you. Because I don't--mostly because I don't agree with what you're trying to do right now. Killing our best chance of winning, simply because you want someone to die. Let people vote the way they want, and someone would. It'd probably be Edgar, in fact, unless the Soother or Rioter did something (assuming either are Spiked). And as for a draw. Assuming both Edgar and Beetle are Seekers, I would rather have a draw and have them both out there seeking tonight than just one. But I seriously doubt that's going to happen. EDIT: Kurk already linked to the post where dyring accused him. Here's the one where Gambles was suspected. Quinn leaves the sentence hanging, but the implication is clear. If Beetle turns out to be Spiked, Gambles' name will be among those for the chopping block. Probably with me and Kurk as well, I'd imagine. Definitely me.- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
little wilson replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
So. After reading all of that....scintillating material, let me add my own thoughts. 1. We're throwing out a LOT of accusations and suspicions. I agree with whoever (Darnam?) said this game was about trust, but there's really not a lot of it going on. Anyone want to defend Beetle or Edgar? Better be ready to have someone accuse you of being Spiked (Kurk, Gambles). 2. I like Kurk's idea about pitting the Seekers against each other. However, I'd tweak it a bit. For one, we don't need the Seekers to seek each other. We just need them to seek. So we could have two of us volunteer to be seeked (sought?). Beetle goes for one, Edgar goes for the other. We'd have to trust that a Spiked doesn't volunteer (although I don't think it would really behoove them to do so, unless they planned on killing said seeker in the night, but that would put suspicion on them....). I'd also leave the Lurcher open to protect themselves, since people seem convinced the Lurcher protected themselves last night against the Coinshot/Mistborn. However, if they didn't, the Lurcher could protect whoever they wanted (including themselves, or one of the Seekers). However, that idea isn't going to work. For obvious reasons. 3. Going back to my first point about trust. I do not trust Darnam at all. And it has nothing to do with him not trusting me or even being the most vocal. It has to do with him saying others should have a show of good faith, and vote with him to kill someone who there's not conclusive evidence against at all. Why should we trust you? So your arguments have been logical, but this game isn't just about logic. There is a LOT of psychology to it (which is a part of the game I've never been good at, because I don't get psychology in the slightest). Oh, so you'll vote Edgar tomorrow, will you? And that's big? One vote? To kill a villager? Your logic now leaves a bit to be desired, in my opinion. 4. Quinn's "paranoia" post has me suspicious of him. That entire post hinted strongly at Spiked, but....it would be pointless to vote for him. 5. I trust Beetle. He's the only person at this point that I actually trust. I'm vaguely trusting of Kurk and Maill, but....Beetle's the only one I legitimately trust. I honestly think he's the Seeker, and it's solely because he pegged Gambles as a regular villager. Granted, both of them could be lying, but....I doubt it. I have to trust someone at some time, and he's the only one that seems deserving of it right now. 6. Edgar. At first, his confession to being Seeker got me thinking he had to be telling the truth, and when he admitted that his first seek was inconclusive, I figured it might be because he thought the smoker was involved. Which is still possible. But he hasn't come forward yet, and until he does (assuming he does), he's the one I'm leaning most toward. Anyway. I'm hesitant to really lock anything in place right now, but.....I'm gonna say Edgar just in case I don't get back around here (which I don't think will happen, but you never know). Regardless, if Edgar survives (as I think he will, which is REALLY unfortunate to the state of my trust), we're gonna need to test his seeking skills. And Darnam, before you say I'm accusing you of being wrong to ask people to trust you, and then I go begging for your trust: I'm not. Go ahead and vote however you want. Heck, if you want to vote for me, go right ahead. I'm on your list too. In fact, it might actually be better to kill me than kill a Seeker. I have no powers, so we won't be losing anything.... But I personally think everyone should vote however they want, rather than be forced into voting for someone they don't really think is Spiked, simply to get someone tomorrow. If tonight goes how I fear it will, we're gonna lose a couple villagers, and that'll put us on the fast track to losing. But if that's how it happens, that's how it happens.- 462 replies

Currently at work, and just checking this on my phone really quick. Haven't had a chance to really read through all the arguments and accusations, and I haven't decided who I'm voting for, although I really don't think it's Beetle. So give me 2 hours to get off and home and I'll have more info. :-) EDIT: Fixed those dreadful typos...- 462 replies

Welcome! Seems like you'll fit right in! As for your theory, Hoid/Wit is a fascinating character who actually appears in all of Brandon's works (that don't take place on Earth). Hence, he is not a Herald, but he's still pretty darn important. And awesome (in my opinion). If you want to learn more about him, go here. His wiki page pretty much has anything you'd ever want to know about Hoid that's known. And in case you haven't read all of Brandon's works, I don't think it'll really spoil anything. Hoid's been a minor character in everything else, minus SA. But anyway. No one really knows much about Hoid so far (and the little bit we do know typically makes us ask even more questions). So head on over to the Cosmere Theories forum, and theorize away (or put in your two cents on one of the theories already floating around about him).

I think 24 hours might not be long enough. At least not on the weekdays. For me, work takes a big chunk of my day, and I can't get on while I'm at work. Between that, the commute, and sleep, I've only got a few extra hours....However, if everyone else can do 24, I'll just make a point to check on my phone on the commute. I don't really like using my data like that, but I can, no problem.- 462 replies

I can quote, but not multi quote. However, I can copy/paste, which I couldn't do before. So that's something. Still can't change color, and any of the other things in the text editor. Although now that I know it uses brackets rather than the sideways carot, I can get around the simple stuff like anchor text links. In the meantime.... EDIT: And after a quick google search on BBCode, I know how to change the text color. But that's kind of a hassle, so if we can figure out the problem, that would be ideal. Also, Eric, you are a gentleman and scholar. Just sayin'.
-
I've been able to quote, although sometimes the quote function doesn't work properly. And the multi quote doesn't work at all. I'm using Chrome.

So this isn't a site issue, but I'm hoping someone (possibly Eric or some other tech/computer-savvy individual out there) could help me out. A few months ago, my hard drive crashed, and I got a new hard drive in my laptop. Since then, my ability to format and everything else in posts on this site is nonexistent. I can't change the text color; I can't link out with anchor text. I can't even copy and paste into a post (including PM's). I have to manually type things out (which really sucks when I'm typing out a long link....). I have the most current version of Java and Flash. (Not sure if Flash matters in this case...don't think it does, but just in case). And it's still not working. Any ideas? Any help is much appreciated.

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
little wilson replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Pretty sure he's talking to me. And I completely disagree. We're not even 12 hours into a 48 hour day. There's still plenty of votes waiting to be cast, and plenty of opportunity to change who we're voting on. If I'd cast that vote 30 minutes before the end of the day, then yeah. That would be very suspicious. But we've got 38 (?) hours left. Also, I didn't add up the way the votes were going before voting. I'm voting on who's most suspicious to me at this point in time. That's between grayv and Mat. Mat's only posted once (that I've seen), and his semi-suspicious behavior isn't quite enough for me to cast a vote for him. However, the game revolves around killing people, and if you cast a vote not to kill someone, it's probably because you have another method of killing those you want to kill. Typically. I could be wrong about that, and end up eating my words the next time grayv posts. I'm open to changing my vote. But as it stands now, I'm saying grayv.- 462 replies

OOC: Dyring, you didn't miss anything. As town messenger, I was delivering a message, but there wasn't really any message. At least, not pertinent to the game. So ignore that. I concur with Quiver and bartbug. Although I'm suspicious of Mat, not killing anyone during the day always works in favor of the mafia (or spiked), without fail. My vote's on grayv..... Plus, he's a veteran. The odds of him encountering some kind of shrapnel that spiked him are a lot higher for him than those of us who've been in the village doing innocent jobs our entire lives. Just sayin'. EDIT: I figured out the BBCode, so I just edited to the appropriate colors and took out my comments on not being able to do the text colors.- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
little wilson replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wilson hurried down the road toward the inn, a letter for the innkeeper in her pocket. The inn looked crowded tonight, and she wondered what she'd missed. Nothing's supposed to be going on tonight. As she wandered inside, she heard talk of saboteurs, and she paused, listening. Someone's sabotaging the walls and soldier's shoes? Who? She sneaked up to the bar, thinking about all the deliveries she'd made the past two weeks. Maybe there would be a clue who the traitor was in one of those. "Letter, Mr. Dyring," she said, slipping the note out of her pocket and sliding it across the bar toward the man, careful to keep her expression innocent. Wouldn't do to have him know she'd looked inside. No one would use her services then...- 462 replies

Aether, when Tal mentioned Eric, he was meaning Chaos. "Chaos ensues," because Chaos (admin on these here fine forums) is Eric. As funny as that would be, sell. Because, as you mentioned, Alcatraz isn't part of the Cosmere. Sorry. Let's see....Before the end of Stones Unhallowed, Kaladin will return to Hearthstone. And in some way, shape, or form, will interact with Roshone while there.

bartbug is correct. Nazh is not Blunt. At this point, we don't know who he is (I don't think), although he has at least one more map that I know of in the artwork in Words of Radiance, and something else in there too. So he's a world-hopper, that much is certain. But as for who? No idea. -
Favorite Brandon Sanderson Story
little wilson replied to Bloodfalcon's topic in General Brandon Discussion
By far, Stormlight Archive. I would say The Way of Kings, but then I'd be leaving out Words of Radiance, and I have on excellent authority that that one is going to be phenomenal. I know people who've read it, and they all say it's Brandon's best book. Logically, if the first was that good, and the second is even better, I'm betting the rest of the series will continue in the same vein. Decently far behind Stormlight is Mistborn. Final Empire, specifically. I love the whole series, but Hero of Ages wrenches my heart a little too much for me to want to put it here. But there's something about a heist story. It's simple awesome. Third place goes to.....Warbreaker. I think. I'm kind of a huge fan of Vasher (and Lightsong), and I think the color magic and Breaths are really, really awesome. Emperor's Soul gets an honorable mention. -
Oh, that's a good one.....Um. Gosh. I can't decide if I want to buy it or sell it.... I'm assuming, because I don't think bonded spren can't truly die, that you mean they'll be Unmade. And in that case, I think I'll buy it. Hesitantly. Let's see. Vasher will lose Nightblood.

Well, Brandon wasn't the one saying the spoilers. Mi'ch was asking Isaac some questions about the book, and they were right next to the recorder. And after we all realized everything got on tape, they kind of just all gave up keeping things contained around it. And I'd run away with my ears plugged when they got into the actual details of the book and not the artwork, since I didn't want the book spoiled for me....at all.
