First chapter of book 3 with Kaladin
Michael Portz replied to Garfield's topic in Stormlight Archive
This might have been brought up in the "Kaladin Love" thread, so bear with me ... BUT Did anybody ever consider, that Kaladin is just ********* frustrated that he ran out of Stormlight??? Imagine, one second you are near allmighty and then *pooof* you are back to foot soldier, and that even in the face of a world threatening danger? This chapter might just lay ground for him in future to use Stormlight in a more economical way :-D **** Edited to avoid swear words ... ROTFL*** -
Funny thing is, that is exactly why David from Steelheart got on my nerves really fast. First I thought I did not like the book. Then I realized that Brandon had perfectly depicted a17 year old boy and that I just do not like 17 year old boys. So it just unterlined Brandons mastery.

Is this already known? Just spotted it. Two top 5 spots for SoS in New York Times bestseller Lists: http://www.nytimes.com/best-sellers-books/2015-10-25/e-book-fiction/list.html and http://www.nytimes.com/best-sellers-books/2015-10-25/combined-print-and-e-book-fiction/list.html Congratulations! Is there a theory or a thread where the following is discussed: Some part of the Wandersail song is a depiction of the Recreance. The part I am refering to would be the part, where the Uvara notice, that all of the atrocities they comitted were their own, and not something which had to be done "for a higher sake" on order of the king. This might hint at reason for the Recreance, where the Knights Radiant noticed that at least an aspect of their regimen was brutal (against the voidbringers??) but never wished for/ordered by Honor or Cultivation or strictly necessary at all. all edits: Typos

Ok, this will pose a minor temporal problem, but what the heck! Each of the following aged appropriately: Audrey Hepburn => Vin Douglas Fairbanks => Elend Clark Gable => Kelzier Gary Cooper => Marsh Burt Ives => Breeze Gregory Peck => Lord Ruler

Facepalm-worthy Moments during Readings
Michael Portz replied to Patrick Star's topic in Stormlight Archive
Although in german "Straff" would be pronounced "Schtraff" with very short "a" (and besides it does mean taut in english, which one might consider as fitting :-) ) -
@Argent: Yeah, but you weren't answering Kairos question, or?
-
No matter WHAT was created, Harmony had a hand in it! Sazed would never have just created a Ruin-Baby 2.0.
-
Is it important, WHOSE blood the spike is covered with? The origins blood? The destinations blood? Human blood? Does it matter at all?
-
I guess he needed "Lestibournes" as housename, or? "Lord Mistborn" for sure is an honorific.
-
Spook explicitly describing Hermalurgy while Sazed does explicitly NOT seems to hint at a rift between them, don't you think? I am looking forward to discovering how deep the rift turns out to have been :-)

Agreed :-) But where Carrot ist lawful good and Vimes ist neutral good I would say Wayne ist chaotic good and Wax is ... hmmm ... lawful neutral?

Thanks, Confused, you finally got an upvote from me for clarifying mandates to me :-D Usually I shy away from your posts, because the rigor showing is just beyond my limit of casual reading; alas never finding the time to thoroughly trying to work through your theories :-/ On a sidenote: the "passing relationship" stance mentioned by Dunkum should on the other hand NEVER be used like "It's a kind of magic" in "Highlander", but only to emphasize (and NOT explain!) clear-cut cosmeric deviations from "our" laws of nature.

It's interesting to compare Vasher to Hoid in that respect; both seem to be on Roshar waiting for certain events to happen or for persons to appear or things to be found. Vasher has taken the what Alfa calls "wise" stance in staying in the background, Hoid is drawing attention like a lunatic. Isn't there a similarity between Hoid and your run-of-the-mill illusionist or magician, who draws the attention of an audience which is completely aware that it is about to be tricked to a point which is just oh-so-slighty BESIDE what should be concealed? Just thinking and rambling...ignore me :-) EDIT: Typo

Mraize self says that "by my estimations", so he probably just has a copy of the in-world Words of Radiance himself and uses his brain: When lightweaving is a given the actual Radiancy gives soulcasting as second ability with a 50% chance. Moogles garnet glow and her drawing skills increases this chance to something much higher (soulcasting garnet on Roshar was red, right?). Mraize does not need certainty to act like he does and get what he wants.

Who is your LEAST favorite character in the Cosmere?
Michael Portz replied to Patar's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Zane First, second and third place on my personal list of characters I do not like in the cosmere. -
So Shadesmar would be less accessible with Odium reigning, but it would still be there. Thats something I can wrap my brain around, thanks :-)
-
Say, where does this -several times during the above discussion mentioned- idea, that Odium will destroy the Shadesmar come from??? Why should he do so? Isn't Shadesmar an absolute MUST for the cosmere to work? And perhaps Odium wants to reign, but he does not want to destroy the whole world.

(completely off-topic ... but I like your b ) )

Hmm...are you sure that two shardblades need 20 seconds? If they are live-spren-blades they both should appear instantaneous, or?
-
I think the most promising trail here is Mailliws posting about the timeline-mismatch: Which people from Roshar do we know from before the events of SA? The heralds of course, perhaps Nohadon, perhaps Axies (he seems to be OLD), but that's it, or? I mean, it would be pointless to give a nameless Rosharian from the Roshariant past screen time on another planet, or?
-
Of course this is a bit obscure, but I never thought they would have to use force to get back Szeths blade. They might not even have to "come out". EDIT: Typo

Hmm ... I guess you are refering to the following paragraph: There is no hat at all and the cap isn't even white. I would say your idea is a bit farfetched; but who knows ;-) EDIT: Found another interpretation of the whole scene: http://squirenonny.tumblr.com/post/94601430912/wit-was-gone-from-the-top-of-the-carriage-another

I second that :-)
