Sell, because that means Jasnah would have to break her oaths Roshone and Laral have had kids

It is true that all of the Sexual relations so far in his books have been between married couples (or in fact gods) but perhaps this is why he would do this, just so that he doesn't fall in to a trope. I think he is saying that we know as much about Tarah as we know about Bavadin. We know that Hoid dislikes Bavadin and we know that Tarah is a past relationship of Kal's, that's about it. So anything else is really just speculation

I think there is a WoB where he talks about squires and how they relate tovthe orders, such as some not having any, so I find it unlikely that they are just proto KR's

"Real Life" Allomancy or How the second Trilogy might work
signspace13 replied to Pathfinder's topic in Mistborn
HEMALURGY, how has this not been discussed yet, power can be obtained and horded to one person, we know that the serial killer in the next mistborn trilogy is a mistborn, what if he is going around killing ferrings with spikes to gain new abilities. I know that it is tricky to find different hemalurgic points on the body but I can imagine them being found (I think there is a WoB saying we will eventually get a chart). so what are the consequences to spiking someone or spiking yourself, could it be some sort of sick tradition to pass your powers on through generations using spikes, this could lead to various out comes of society, another we have to think about is religion based around these things. I think hemalurgy has the ability to make a very corrupt society, although I doubt it will be common knowledge it is hard to make that sort of thing disappear, i mean just think of what the koloss used to be, I wonder if they still exist in their hemalurgic state, or if they are al now bread into semi-humans, and that could be another point of conflict! I'm gonna stop now I'm rambling. -
I had always assumed Tarah was a soldier like call than i actually thought about it and was like... "oh wait VORIN" it is possible that Tarah was a prostitute, but i think if she was than Brandon would have mentioned something about her in the 'Adolin save a prostitute' scene of tWoK. I think she was probably a camp hanger on possibly a scribe of a decent nahn similar to Kal's own, and she watched him furiously practicing for awhile and asked him why he was so intense. thus begins a relationship that Kal mucked up in a way only Kal can, so likely someone died.

Who knows maybe the rest are already captured, how do we know if they are even still on Roshar, I mean to make a pact with a shard you need to have at least a little knowledge of the Cosmere. They might have even started their own secret societies... hmmm, Mraize? or whoever is the leader of the Ghostbloods? edit: I know isn't meant to be entirely serious but hey worth discussion, why not here?

But would the night watcher see it that way? the Nightwatcher seems to always give a blessing AND a curse, never both as one. I think the Nightwatcher would have perceived the erasing of his memories as a blessing, and I don't know where you got that Adolin started training so young Maxal, but if it is so then perhaps it is because he is the eldest child and Dalinar waited longer for Renarin, anyway I think that Renarin's sickness is just a little suspicious, and it seems like the exact sought of thing that the Nightwatcher would do.

This seems like an interesting theory, but I do not think that 'Heraldom', is something that could be passed on, so far we don't even know if Taln has his honorblade, as the shardblade that Dalinar had was not it. with regards to the oaths I don't think they would apply to the Honor blades at all, in fact I don't think they always applied to the Nahel bond either, in one of Dalinar's visions we see Nohadon and he is talking to his trusted adviser about troublesome surgebinders. later Teft says something about the Ideals being invented by an old king, whose name he (conveniently) forgot. From this we can assume that it was Nohadon that made the first Nahel bond with a Godlikespren, possibly after writing 'the way of kings'. After this said Godlikespren conferred to the rest of the spren the ideals and the Nahel bond, thus creating the KR proper (this also gives some background to the order "bondsmiths"). Edit because: typos

Odium’s Plan to Free Himself and How He Will Be Defeated
signspace13 replied to Confused's topic in Stormlight Archive
this is the epigraph, it does state that the number of 3 was not uncommon, but it also says that their spren was very specific, I still think that all Bondsmiths bond 'Godlikespren' such as the Stormfather (i think the Nightwatcher would also fall into this category, but I can't imagine her making a bond, and also the large spren mentioned by confuse that Axies sees) so yes I find it plausible we will have more Bondsmiths to come.- 23 replies

I agree, I like the idea of the spren themselves having something secret going on, and I think it was the bondsmiths who stuck around anyway.

I don't know if we know what his boon was, maybe he asked for all memories of his wife erased and Renarin's blood sickness/epilepsy was the curse, i mean that seem just as likely as any other theory we have.

Odium’s Plan to Free Himself and How He Will Be Defeated
signspace13 replied to Confused's topic in Stormlight Archive
I read somewhere on the forum about the champions and someone had an idea that I thought was fantastic, Amaram as Odium's champion. If we see Kaladin as a champion appointed by the KR which seems likely, I mean who says you need to be a shard to have a champion. This would result in the final battle being an epic duel between voidbinding Amaram and surgebinding Kaladin, and I can't think of anything more satisfying than those two duking it out for for the sake of the world. Edit because: i -> I- 23 replies

emphasis mine this shows that Gavilar did Fancy Amaram as a potential match for Jasnah meaning there age difference can't be too severe, and I don't think it would be wide enough to get his 'creepy uncle' on.

I have always thought that the Radiants abandoned their oaths in protest to something. I think the most likely cause is human war, in the Feverstone keep scene i think one of the soldiers asks what the KR are doing there because they should be at the front lines. So I think that those were the front lines of a human war, against human, and so the windrunners could nit protect without killing, the dustbringers bravery was negligible, because what is brave about charging humans while in full shard plate with a shardblade. all of this abd more, I think the Radiants were sick of being used as soldiers and spys by petty kings and lords, so they quit, i think those kings asked them to do something terrible or they were threatened in some way if they didn't do it.

hmmm, yes that does make sense, heck why not go up a notch shallan's squires can capture images for her, just like she does but they can't use them like she does. but she can then has access to them through some sought of cognitive connection made via bond? yay for speculation! hmm maybe or maybe you just only become a squire if you fit the bill, just like being a radiant. I think Gaz would sought of fit Shallan's spy like occupation, and maybe a one of her slaves (really I hate that word). Edit: because butterfingers (typos)

I find it fairly likely that when they do meet, whenever that is, there will be quite a few tears directly relating to the "OH MY ALMIGHTY YOUR ALIVE" reaction that I'm sure a few poeple will have, then to be closely followed by tears from at least Navani. I personally think Jasnah will put the "I'm dead" thing to good use, as everyone think this is the case we will likely see her do some undercover work, or not, it doesn't really seem to in character for Jasnah, but I wouldn't pass the opportunity to lay low for awhile if everyone thought I was dead (especially if I knew poeple wanted me to stay that way). I think we may see a resumption of the master apprentice thing though except now Shallan has some new secrets, I say this because someone has to teach Shallan to Soulcast, and Jasnah is the only person who can do that. but once that is done i feel they will see each other as closer to equals, given all that shallan has accomplished in Jasnah's absence. Their main conflict will occur if Shallan takes the offer to join the Ghostbloods, which I find almost certain. I say this because the Jasnah and the Ghostbloods obviously have a rivalry going on. I mean they did kill her (sought of). Shallan will not pass up that chance and if she does i will be seriously disappointed because she worked so hard to get in. well that's my to cents, or more like 10 cents... but whatever.

Odium’s Plan to Free Himself and How He Will Be Defeated
signspace13 replied to Confused's topic in Stormlight Archive
Internal conflict could start now, I mean she practically lost her legs because she was so obedient, and i think we have seen some in the past, wasn't she annoyed that she had to take care of a patch of Shin grass? I think we have two equally likely possibilities for this order, we just happen to know a hell of a lot more about one of them. and I think her becoming a radiant is the only real way for her to continue to have significance because unless stormlight heals those shattered legs of hers then she won't be walking anytime soon.- 23 replies

this is chilling *shivers*

Gavilar seemed to think he was a good match for Jasnah, and her reaction to him in that scene definitely isn't that of seeing one who molested her, she would have been something like 29 at that point because i think shallan said she was 35 in WoK . edit:

I think Jasnah is likely to remain single she strikes me as either Asexual or possibly homosexual, she certainly doesn't seem to show any interest in men. I also am not against the idea of a sibling like relationship between Kaladin and Shallan, I find it unlikely that Shallan's relationship with Adolin will continue to much longer, it really is cute but I don't know if it is in for the long haul, and I don't think we see enough relationships fail in this genre, they always have the 'work out against all odds appeal' and we need some new stuff. But I also would like a relationship for Kal and at the moment Shallan is the best bet for they are at least infatuated with each other. I would love to learn more about Laral as well I didn't really like her that much as a child, I mean she always insisted that Kaladin go off to war to win a shardblade just so she didn't have to marry him as a darkeyes and she seemed mad at him after he chose to definitely be a surgeon, not that they interacted much after that. Am I the only one that finds that kind of self centered? but hey she was only a kid so who am I to judge. And we know so little about the horse trainer, I can't imagine she would be needed at Urithuru so maybe she took a horse to Kholinar and Kal will see her their LOL that would be an entertaining reunion.

I'm interested in lashing fire still I mean yes you may have to touch it but if you have enough stormlight, does it really matter if you get burned? I mean I am just saying that it would be awesome to have Kaladin through fireballs around, although I think that might end up being a dustbringer thing.
-
well lashing water seems like it would be relatively simple my question would be can they lash fire? because Kaladin doing some fire bending would be more than a little entertaining.
