I definitely remember a WoB saying that there were limits imposed on maximum speed by air resistance and friction, and another one that when tapping steel it gives a boost to your brain to help it process quickly enough. They're fairly old ones if I'm remembering correctly though, so it's possible he's changed it.

Are you up to date with all the major cosmere novels? Than as long as you got the WoB's from around WoR release, you're probably mostly up to speed. I can't think of anything especially mind blowing in the cosmere that we've learned about in the past several months.

Alas, "LeftVash" didn't turn up a single result. Not that I was really that surprised, but it would've been interesting if I had gotten something. I don't remember anything for ScottLeft either actually, which is a little odd. My favorite one Ive seen on here was definitely Kurk's.

*Cough Cough* The lone survivor of the Herd's stampede across the forums sits back in his seat as he continues to watch Japanese cartoons and eat homemade donuts and hums "Sound Life" to himself.

But we have to put up with leaning down to hear you quiet lowlanders( it's seriously the worst) and have to always worry about being able to find you in crowds. We also provide excellent shade trees and wind blocks to our shorter brothers and sisters.

While anime and manga are often just different formats for the same stories, I thought it would be nice to have a thread for manga just as we do for anime. I actually started reading manga first, which got me into anime and gave me a better idea of the kinds of shows I wanted to watch. I can't stand reading manga online, my iPods screen is too small for the apps to work well with, and I'm not interested in taking out a magazine subscription or buying tankoban, so all I've read has come from the tankoban at my library. My starter series was D.Gray-Man, and I devoured the first twenty volumes, and then suffered when I realized that there were three not available at the library, and past those the mangaka was having health issues and hadn't finished any more. Some of my other favorites are: Death Note( I hate the anime, but the manga was Really good) Kekkaishi (Haven't finished it, but probably my favorite manga series) Dengeki Daisy Princess Ressurection( Couldn't finish because the publisher stopped releasing them) Hoshin Engi, or Soul Hunter High School Rumble What and how do you read manga? Are you stuck like me with unfinished Tankoban series at your library?....

But short people are my friends!! Us tall guys are threatened by other talk guys, so we flock to nice short fellows to keep our egos inflated!....

The Illiad and Odyssey were much bett'r books in my opinion. Two cents

I've noticed the bad sleeping on my desktop actually, although I haven't fiddled with the settings yet. My biggest problem is that Civ V and windows ten are Not liking each other.

Finished Towers of Sunset, second book in the Saga of Recluse. Storms, I get now why people think Modesitts writing is bad. If you start with Recluse is pretty storming awful. His later books definitely are far above that *shudder* Not that Modesitt ever becomes a Rothfuss, or even a Sanderson.

Worldsinger?Feruchemist?Shardholder?
Left replied to Darkness Ascendant's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yeeeeesssss.....your pretty much right about everything you said, although some of the phrasing wasnt completely clear to me at first.( I thought you meant that Feruchemists could only store/tap speed). I'm not sure how accurate a description of a shard holder is...I guess it could be a bond, but it's not really described as such. What's your point? -
So I've dislike my first name for ages, and this summer I finally found a name that I lined and the guts to ask people to use it, so I've going by Scott instead of Caleb for a couple weeks. My family doesn't really like it, but I don't make them call me Scott, so it's not a big deal. At some point in the future I plan on legally changing it, but not now as the legal fees go into the hundreds and I don't have the dough or the urgency. I'll probably change my username to either ScottVash or ScottLeft when I'm not stuck on mobile.

What are you playing right now?
Left replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Been meaning to update on here for a while but never got around to it. Batman Arkham Knight was excellent, far far more enjoyable to me than Origins. The batmobile was extremely well done, although it annoyed me that basically every boss fight was a tank fight. Better than even More Bane style fights I suppose. The story was absolutely kick chull, although the pacing wasnt fantastic. The knightfall ending kinda confused me, kinda hoping an expansion or dlc will expand on that. Anyway, I'd probably rank it even with Arkham Asylum, but beneath City. City was just such a perfect game that it would be very, very hard to make an Arkham game I could love more. All three easily beat origins though, it was just so unengaging to me. Anyway, before I played AK, I was starting back up on my play through of Legends of Heroes, Trails in the Sky. Not my favorite game, but as I play it more and the story picks up the pace, I'm enjoying it more. Enough to finish it anyway. Since upgrading to windows ten, Civ V has been basically unplayable for me. Within 5-15 minutes the computer will crash so bad that I have to power it off and do a complete reboot everytime. It's driving me nuts, but I don't know of a solution yet. -
I'm voting delightful again if that's okay?

Yay!!!! Thread necro I'm surprised I never posted on here, but I think I'd probably be a Grey if going my the white towers ajahs, although obviously I'm a bloke.

Don't you all mean the everstorm that's coming this winter? I'm actually really looking forward to it. Where I live, it's probably going to be a very brief winter and then into an incredibly early spring. Which really beats the -15 plus windchill winters the past few years.
-
Oh I'm quite looking forward to starting the school year Ive been bored out of my head most of the summer, and I don't think I'm going to have a very difficult time with the classes. The hardest part will probably just be getting back into a good study routine again.

So what do we do now that twilyght finished memes of radiance?..... It'll take her a while to get another book ready....and it's easily my favorite part of this thread....

I'm taking AP physics, pre calc, AP human geography, AP micro and macro economics, and some English/History class. Gotta get a job and fit that into there as well.

They're okay.....Basically no one is going to recommend those to you as your first Discworld books though. I recommend Mort, Guards! Guards!, or possibly Going Postal. NavyBrandt made a very nice chart that shows the order of each of the subseries, although they can be read completely out of order, and there is no order in which you should read the subseries in relationship to each other.

Well alright then, I guess I'll be getting back to The Naked Sun. I also finished Thief of Time, and boy did it remind me of why I love Pratchett. Definitely one of his better books. Still haven't finished Flash.... Going to give Towers of Sunset, second book in the saga of Recluse, another go. It's one of modesitts books that are incredibly hard to get sucked into for a long time, but I hope that I can chug through it so I can get to the more interesting books in the series.

I'll be writing one up sometime as well, as I love thinking about the subject.

A version of Scadrial where tLR was a benificent ruler and vin and kelsier quite horrible rebels under Ruins control. A roshar where Elantrians had invaded long ago in their galactic quest to become a powerful enough empire to take revenge on Odium for his visit to Sel. Nalthis, a land of drabs and zombies going through a power struggle to obtain a cloak that a team of awakeners put Everyone's breath into. It is believed that a drab who obtains it will be able to restore himself and others to at least their previous heightenings.
