  1. It is a possibility I never considered before, but I am leaning towards no considering his journal was still on his body and the journal literally details all his traps and where to find the rest of his aviar. If I were intending to kill someone for their belongings, I would go through ALL their stuff, and I would most certainly not leave behind a book detailing EVERYTHING I need in order to loot.
  2. So new info for this thread. Saw Brandon yesterday at comic con, and I asked him if there was anyway I could beg or convince him to have in the modern day trilogy, a TV in the background playing a show called "Tales from the Old Roughs, The Wax and Wayne show". He chuckled a bit, and said in fact he already planned to do something like that, but he was going to have it be a graphic novel in the modern day trilogy world, where you would see people cosplaying in old roughs style clothing. The modern trilogy needs to happen now lolol although my blood tan question got RAFOed
  3. I think I have come to the conclusion that, although we can understand the motivations of an individual (excellent discourse everyone), and in many ways sympathize and rationalize how this individual came to make his decisions, in the end, in my opinion, that still does not make him nor his actions honorable. We may know that a pebble started an avalanche, but the avalanche is still the cause of the devastation.
  4. Kaladin :"You could haved asked me for them! Storm you!" Amaram: "And when news got around camp? Tha you'd killed the Shardbearer but I had the Shards? Nobody would believe that you'd given them up of your own free choice. Besides, son. You wouldn't have let me keep them. You'd have changed your mind. in a day or two, you'd have wanted the wealth and prestige - others would convince you of it. You'd have demanded that I return them to you. it took hours to decide, but Restares is right - this is what must be done. For the good of Alethkar." So in my opinion that is the proof he was referring to. Also while I type that, I realized in a way it shows all the more his dishonor, because is it not said we see most in others what we see in ourselves? What does it say about Amaram that he so readily expects that Kaladin would be deceitful and power hungry? Because he thinks that way himself. I admit conjecture, but I think that is a pretty good sign
  5. I do feel it would be an interesting twist, if we find out Amaram IS actually like Elend, just while in the mistborn trilogy, we got to know him from his perspective, in the stormlight archives we learn of Amaram from EVERYONE ELSE'S perspective. I do not think this is true, and still believe Amaram is dishonorable, but I think it could be a cool twist.
  6. Not to drag you back in, but I was curious, and I looked it up. You are correct, it was at the wedding, Wayne was burning bendalloy and wax "took a deep breath; the coldness inside him melted away and became a flame as he burned steel that pinpointed each and every source of metal in the room"
  7. Lol I am glad you elaborated on that, because honestly I tend to do the same, and I was just about to reply, but given this new understanding, i shake your hand and tip my hat to you sir
  8. Ok, I do not like to speak for people, but I think Moogle's point is this. We have a reasonable expectation of what would happen if speed bubbles existed in real life thanks to our current understanding of physics. We would not be able to see into or out of the bubble. Atmospheric pressure would be an issue, and so on. Moogle is just stating that since these have been shown to NOT apply to these bubbles, there either has to be ANOTHER explanation, or handy wavey it just works because magic. Since we do not conclusively know either, we can extrapolate based on our understanding of science what OTHER things may be affected. Since light are waves, and radio signal are waves, it would be reasonable to deduce they would function in a similar manner. Since light is not affected, it would be reasonable to deduce that radio waves would not either. Moogle then generously pointed out the fallacy of this own reasoning by playing out why it WOULDN'T work that way (i.e. wibbly wobbly timey whimy paradoxes). So I do not feel he is so much as disagreeing with you, as pointing out based on what little we know about the situation, your view is not conclusive. edit: in summation, since like epics, it seems timebubbles break physics as we know them, we cannot conclusively yet state how they function or how they will interact with other objects edit2: if i mis-represent you moogle, or am out of my depth in understanding the application of physics in this scenario, then i apologize, and please carry on lol
  9. So would then a laser shot from within outwards, or from without inwards not have a deflection like bullets do when transversing the boundary?
  10. Lol you might if the good actions are a cover for murdering your family and friends for instance, but otherwise I agree lol. Sadeus not being the most reliable of character witnesses, and the wanting the apocalypse to happen kinda trumping any good deeds we are on the same page on lol.
  11. I just re-read the scene and the only reason Amaram spared Kaladin was because Kal literally had just saved his life. I feel Amaram puts up an act, one that he may even try to convince himself of, of being honorable, but as Kal pointed out in that scene, Amaram does it for himself But there is a scene where Sadeus comments how he knows the REAL Amaram, and any good actions and such are just for show. Good actions by themselves does not make a good person. A multi-millionaire can SEEM good by donating money to an orphanage, when the reason is just good publicity, while the reality is his company is what made those children lose their families to begin with. All that shows is Amaram is a REALLY good PR man for himself.
  12. that would only work in a bendalloy. If you are faster relative to outside the bubbles, then theoretically the signal would reach the limits of the bubble slower, and then speed up once it hit the barrier so there would be a delay. The other way around would be the pulses would reach the limits of the bubble faster, and then slow down. Basically there would be an overflow at the barrier. So if it was indeed effected in that way, then the bomb that is supposed to (lets say for illustrative purposes) be receiving a pulse every second, would be receiving multiple pulses per second, rather than every OTHER second. Again assuming that line of reasoning.
  13. Well I feel with Elend, we are very spoiled. We know all his history, we see in his head to know the reasoning for all his actions, and we see the internal struggle with every hard choice he has to make. Finally he also has the luxury of knowing for a fact he is working against an evil that intends to destroy the world and all he loves. Amaram could POTENTIALLY be the same, but we do not have any of this information. We know he works with a secret organization, but we do not know the full goals of the organization, what they truly want to accomplish, and if there are any real facts they draw upon to back any of that up. We have plenty of conjecture, but we do not know enough. From an outside perspective, with very little information, Elend could be seen as identical to Amaram. Just based on the information we have so far, in my opinion, it is very doubtful to be revealed that he is in the same stead as Elend. edit: to further clarify, for instance we know they want to bring the heralds back by bringing about a desolation. as far we know perhaps they have factual information that by bringing about it earlier, it prevents or forces Odiums hand which ultimately leads to defeating Odium. extremely far fetched, and I do not think will happen, but just to illustrate my point
  14. This inquiry completely honest and genuine, can you reference when he is a good person? It has been a little while since I have read the book and my memory is just recalling Sadeus's comments about what kind of man Amaram really is, how he treated Kaladin, how he reacted when Adolin was in danger and etc. I am not saying what you stated is not true, or asking you to prove anything. Just I realize my memory is a little hazy on the subject, and it is focusing on the biggest, or more frequently discussed moments. So this will help me get a better picture of the man.
  15. Well theoretically neither is your arm. You are made up of atoms vibrating. That is why I said what truly constitutes identity. What we THINK is physically connected? What is ACTUALLY physically connected? The CONCEPT of connection? Why are radio waves not considered "physical"? Just because to us it is not tangible even though it can be measured? Wind isn't tangible but it is a physical force that can be measured. Neon Genesis Evangelion posited we all had a personal "shield" that kept us separate, and once that was brought down we became one giant unified sea of sludge lol. I guess I am not so much arguing a point, as asking questions or challenging your hypothesis-es in order to fully flesh them out. If that makes any sense? edit: would it help that since I am going to the NYCC next weekend and Brandon is attending, to try and ask him this question and hope I do not get RAFOed?
  16. Theoretically your arm is just sending/receiving a signal to/from your brain. I understand an arm is quite a bit more apart of a person than a remote to a bomb, but there is a connection that I think warrants consideration. What truly constitutes an identity? Especially when discussing objects. Stones are stones, till they are a wall enough to be a wall.
  17. Oh believe me, if I ever get super powers I know I will undoubtedly be a villian because I see the world realistically and realize the brutal truth. The "hero" in the real world can't depend on a sudden reversal at the end of the episode. Give a bad guy enough tries at taking you out, and eventually he or she WILL succeed, and when they play for keeps, they just need once. I was just pointing out from Kaladin's order's views on honor, being to protect, as well as the other orders (even though their views are slightly different) typically hold to a rather idealistic code. Prime example being one of their main tenants IS life before death. Yes someone can REGRET the problems an individual causes, but stating "i should have killed you while I had the chance" I think carries a different connotation. Though I do realize I am ad-libbing, and not direct quoting.
  18. thats kinda the exact definition of being dishonorable. Doing something only for ones own gain. I mean isn't that what the good guys always do in stories? No matter how many times the bad guys try to kill them, and it would make sense to just remove the problem and kill the bad guy, they don't because it is the wrong thing to do? edit: i mean how many times in stories do you see the good guy main character say "damnation i should have killed my helpless enemy because he popped up later and pointed out what a horrible person i am"
  19. Wasn't there a quote somewhere that Amaram stated he regretted leaving Kaladin alive? Wishing you had killed someone, tends to expunge the nobility of letting someone live in my opinion
  20. Going on conjecture, couldn't the bomb maker set up a similar situation as in sixth of dusk? Include a hemalurgic "tuning fork" of sorts that if any investiture is acted upon the bomb, it blows? Then it doesn't matter if the left foot is in, or the left foot is out, or even if you shake it all about, it goes kabloey. edit:
  21. Brings a whole new outlook to dissection class, just instead of those pins keeping the bodies open for dissection, its for stabbity fun.
  22. I agree and disagree if that makes sense lol. On one hand I agree I couldn't see Sazed having a problem with it if it goes to helping others or furthering the society, but on the other hand I disagree because Scadrial isn't Sazed's only concern. The greater cosmere is as well. If Sazed lets his power get leached, what is there to stop a possibly released Odium, or Odium analogue down the line from popping up and shattering a weakened Sazed? Unless that is to form his own knights radiant in a way which could have been very well what happened with Honor. I am now picturing the knights inquisitors lol. Also just a thought I had that I felt was worth mentioning but wasn't sure if it was worth a fresh thread, but in Alcatraz, it is brought up continually that things only individuals can do is magic, but thing anyone can do is science. By that definition hemalurgy isn't magic, it is science. Which would make sense why the southern Scadrielans could make machines from it. Has anyone expanded on the scientific perspective of hemalurgy?
  23. I never thought about distilling lerasium from the mist before. Would Sazed be ok with that? They would basically be leaching him of his power right?
  24. Ferring. Well considering that in the modern day trilogy there will be a mistborn serial killer, and a whole SWAT team of mistings to hunt him/her, I personally believe they are not as rare as everyone thinks, or they do figure out a way. It is certainly implied in AoL that there is something to the bloodlines. But that is my own conjecture.
  25. Pathfinder

    Legion

Ok so this theory is based on a rudimentary knowledge of carbon dating and radioactive decay, but perhaps the flash sorta stimulates atoms of a certain frequency that the lens then interprets and forms an image? Totally pulling this outta my but, but it sorta sounds fancy right? lol
