The flashback regarding Lalai is a separate one. It is a reading from Brandon's latest tour and is in Stormlight 3.
-
Ah gotcha. No worries, my misunderstanding.
-
The OP stated that Kaladin would have said all of his oaths. The windrunner in Dalinar's vision had shardplate that could change at a thought. So it is reasonable to believe if Kaladin said all his oaths, he would have radiant shardplate That is an excellent point with the larkin, though as that that is an external creature not included in a windrunner's powers, while chromium would be with a mistborn, I am not sure in this scenario if it could be counted.

Lol, I feel bad popping your bubbles. I only know these things from being on the boards for awhile, and please don't take these as me shutting you down. My only intention is to share what I have learned. So basically as you stated, with allomancers, there are either mistborn with all the powers or mistings with none of the powers. With feruchemy you were either born with all of them, or none of them. Once feruchemists started to interbreed with allomancers, the thing that stops mistings from having more than just one power, messed with the feruchemists. So now with feruchemy you either get all of them, or only one of them. And now like allomancy, getting all of them is very rare. So basically as of the AoL era you either get one misting power, or one ferring power, or your a twin born with one of each. edit: baring hemalurgy that is. then you could make whatever combination you want.

Just for clarity, it was used as a general catch all term, which includes those with both shardblade and plate, those with just shardblade, and those with just shardplate. As shardblade and plate can be borrowed to fill in the gaps of what the challenged is missing. Quote below: Word of Radiance page 98 "The highprinces would have a hard time fighting against us if we controlled all of the Shardblades and Shardplate in the army. Adolin, I want you to challenge the Shardbearers of other highprinces in duels of honor, the prizes being the Shards themselves." further down in the discussion: "We'll see," Dalinar said. "This is only one part of what we will do, the smaller part - but also the most visible part. Adolin, everyone tells me how good you are at dueling, and you have pestered me incessantly to relax my prohibition. There are thirty Shardbearers in the army, not counting our own. Can you defeat that many men?"
-
I am sorry. To clarify, when I was comparing it to pewter, it was in favor of your suggestion. That you could mimic pewter without actually having to rely on burning or tapping. Since you are storing instead of tapping or burning you would never have to worry about it suddenly running out. The only problem is as I said, regardless of how much pain you ignore, your body is still getting damaged and will need a way to heal from it, or you will die.
-
Ah good point on Chromium. It would be hard to stay ahead of a instantly changing weapon coming from different directions, but if she could manage it, and touch him, unless the armor shields him, she could wipe out all his stormlight. Then even a fall from a decent height could kill him.
-
Then I think it jumps back to heavily in Kaladin's favor. That is assuming that upon speaking all his oaths, he holds stormlight better, has radiant shardplate, a changing weapon in his sprenblade that can be summoned to his hand immediately (regardless of being duralumin pushed away), and perfect control over his flight in all directions. Not counting the increase in speed, strength, and healing he gets from stormlight and the potential increase in strength and durability from the shardplate.
-
This is entirely my own interpretation, but I feel considering how Nazh's gun was affected by the leecher, it would would drain Kaladin of stormlight preventing his use of his powers, but still having his sprenblade and depending on how radiant shardplate works, that too.
-
Ah true, I think you are right. It certainly makes sense. Vin had access to all the powers, so she was able to tap them all with the mists. Wax just had steel, and pewter (from the earring), so he could use it to fuel only those. Though to confirm, his pathian earring was steel?
-
I believe Shardblades and Shardplate can change. But the change is much much much much much slower.
-
She was able to push easily on the inquistor's spikes which are not only in the body, but also invested themselves. If a duralumin push could push on a shardblade, then Vin harnessing the mists could push on plate and blade normally. As mentioned, she caved in a building just from the trace metals in the stone. In Wax's case, the mists were only giving him pewter to withstand the damage his body was enduring during the fight. So, at least it appears to me, the Shard can choose what the recipient gets out of the mists.
-
Thank you both for confirming. I was not sure which is why I said take it with a grain of salt. So then the only question would be, would the leaders of the army have the knowledge to know to group up their soothers to take control of each of the koloss. Then you would only need one soother from the group to control X number of koloss. Kind of like the half men with trollocs.

double post because I found it: Way of Kings page 408-409 Dalinar had also approved most requests for families to be brought to the Shattered Plains. The officers already had their wives of course - a good lighteyes officer was really a team, the man to command and fight, the woman to read, write, engineer and manage camp. then further down in the description: Regardless, Dalinar had also approved requests by darkeyed common soldiers to bring their families. He even paid half of the cost. When Adolin had asked why, Dalinar had replied that he didn't feel right forbidding them. The warcamps were never attacked anymore, so there was no danger. Adolin suspected his father felt that since he was living in a luxurious near-palace, his men might as well have the comfort of their families. And so it was that children played and ran through the camp. Further down: I'm not certain. The Shattered Plains are now a de factor Alethi province. How will this place appear in a hundred years? Will those rings of barracks become neighborhoods? The outer shops become markets? The hills tot he west become fields for planting?" I could check try to find scenes in Sadeas's camp specifically, but I am also fairly certain Sebarial (i think that is the highprince who built a town on purpose?), definitely had families and children in his camp as well.
-
Ah, you are correct, my bad!
-
I need to check to be certain, but if I recall correctly, Lighteyed officers had their families with them which included wives and children. It was why when Dalinar was betrayed it was so devastating. No worries. My personal philosophy is if I feel the post is being offensive I downvote. Otherwise I just respond.

Secret History Spoiler: But that is all if I recall correctly, I would need to go back and check to be sure.

As of the WoA, Vin had duralumin. So the capability was there though she did not have the knowledge yet. Also, though taken with a grain of salt, the Mistborn Adventure game states that when multiple soothers of normal power sooth a Koloss, they can gain control without duralumin. So it is certainly possible to control them after the Lord Ruler, but prior to Hero of Ages.
-
As this is referring to Era 1 mistborn, I will write this without spoilers. Leras does not officially die till book three in the original trilogy. You literally see his body drop signalling his death. Up until then because he gave up most of his mind for the prison is why he was limited, but he was very much alive.
-
Good point. I have edited my post to reflect these.

As the OP was in regards to Era 1 Mistborn, this is what would be available to each side: Scadrial: Mistborn, Inquisitors, The Lord Ruler, Koloss, Kandra, and a standing Garrison Army Roshar: Highprince's standing armies, Shardbearers, some fabrials (such as soulcasters but none of Navani's contributions) What they wouldn't have: Scadrial: Medallions, Feruchemists (would be rare or wiped out by inquisitors for their spikes, as pointed out by Voidus), twin born (born naturally), bendalloy, cadmium, and nicrosil Roshar: The Knights Radiant, Heralds, fabrials (post Navani, such as repelling, pain reducing, etc)(and spanreeds as pointed out by Voidus) The state of each world as of Era 1 Scadrial: Either: 1. held by an immortal dictator 2. fractured and warring amongst itself 3. Unified and led by Vin and Elend as full mistborn Roshar: Either 1. fractured and warring amongst itself 2. Sunmaker unifies them briefly under his rule 3. back to fractured and warring There are simply too many variables to determine who would win including the societal and economical aspects of the battle but if we have to include it, then either both planets are too fragmented to fight, or one is fragmented while the other is organized, or they are both organized and can field equal armies. Pick one

Although certainly possible, I still feel if you talk about your legacy, or even other people's legacy (Dalinar's for instance), you would reference your own children. Also the Shattered Plains became the new seat for the Alethkar nation. If you want your legacy intact, and build a power base, then you would have your family there with you (just like every other high prince). By their children being there, it would be a calculated risk, but would also allow Sadeas to train his progeny. Allow him to build alliances, and such for when the child comes of age. Also with all his comments on Adolin and Renarin, why wouldn't he dig deeper by comparing them to his own children? He already criticizes how Dalinar wages the war, by comparing him to his own faster bridges. Why not imply that Dalinar is a failure as a father as well to further discredit him? He already calls into question Renarin as useless. I dunno. Again I admit it is very possible, and there is nothing concrete I could present to definitively say no, but it doesn't feel right to me. edit: oh yeah and Amaram was hanging out back home before he went to the Shattered Plains and there was no mention of Sadeas's offspring there. Nor by Kaladin. Its only ever been mentioned as Sadeas himself with his wife.

Well according to the coppermind chronology, SSFH comes up in the later half but before stormlight. Nazh was seen during the events of Era 1 mistborn. So that would indicate to me, Nazh was around prior to SSFH.

If I recall correctly, but I will need to check, when the leecher used the primer cube, he had to throw it and it hit Wax for it to burn away his reserve. So I would imagine internal powers would require touching the cube to use them. edit: on the plus side, i think it seems that the original metal born is the only one that needs to burn the metal. So a thug could burn pewter to store the power, and then hand the cube to a person, for them to without any metal, be a thug as long as they hold it till the charge runs out.

Hemalurgy is rewriting your spirit web, so I could see it being passed on genetically but I do not think that is the case with medallions as it is temporary.
