Who is the bigger cremling?
Pathfinder replied to Assassin in Burgundy's topic in Stormlight Archive
So would someone with a gun, but the response to someone drawing a gun on you is still the assumption that they intend to shoot and kill. -
Who is the bigger cremling?
Pathfinder replied to Assassin in Burgundy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. For me when you confront someone with something they did wrong, their first instinct is to reach for a weapon? I honestly don't see how that makes things better. Going on your premise, there is a reason why when a cop attempts to apprehend a suspect, that if said suspect reaches for the weapon at his or her side, the cop has license to fire in self defense (now this is not in regards to the shootings involving cops and african americans in the USA. that is separate from what we are discussing.) -

Who is the bigger cremling?
Pathfinder replied to Assassin in Burgundy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I am not sure how one could fight purely defensive with a blade that can cut through anything unless the other person also has one. If anyone tried to arrest Amaram with his shardblade, while no one else had one, it would be a massacre. also i feel the amount of time and chances Amaram had to come clean is all the more damning. -
Lol you accidentally quoted me there. That was Maxal speaking. Anything I wrote was in blue. In fact I stated how she was aiming that point in the wrong direction as I never said I thought Jasnah hired an assassin. All I said was an assassin could be considered the culprit.

Sorry for the delay. couldn't view it on my work computer. So everyone can see, I will type it up below and then reply: Q: Have we seen any soul-stamped objects in any of the non-Sel books? B: For you to have seen this, someone would have to have cracked the issue with Sel magics losing power greatly when taken from the planet Q:Is this a feasible task for someone like Shai or Hoid? We know the Moon Scepter is a rosetta stone, so the task seems less daunting, right? B: The task is less daunting for certain. i don't want to say more, however, as I think the clues are there about Sel's magic, and I want to avoid saying too much So I think that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to vague to claim the moon scepter would accomplish what you claim. could it be that the rosetta stone helps you further understand selish investiture to then figure out how to make it not lose as much strength when on other planets. I do not see in this WoB mention of seons. Did I miss it?

Who is the bigger cremling?
Pathfinder replied to Assassin in Burgundy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I quoted the rest of the scene and bolded certain parts. Please check them out. Amaram was preparing for a fight because he knew he was found out, so his first response is to go for an unstoppable weapon. Not defend himself further verbally. Not try to rationalize with Dalinar. Not ask for forgiveness. He went right for a weapon. he is so sorrowful for what he has done, when he had a chance to apologize and come clean, as per Dalinar, he persisted and was counting on Dalinar being unarmed. -

Amaram did not know Dalinar was summoning his sword. In fact as far as Amaram knew, Dalinar didn't have a sword at all, because he sent people to steal it. He attempted to strike an unarmed person, and was only stopped because Dalinar had out thought him, and stole the sword back. I will post this, and then pull up the scene, the edit my post to reflect the quote. Amaram paled and stepped back, hand going to his side. "I told my servant," Dalinar said calmly, "to go drinking with your personal guard - he knew many of them - and talk of a treasure that the madman said had been hidden for years outside the warcamp. By my order, he then placed the madman's Shardblade in a nearby cavern. After that. we waited." He's summoning his Blade, Kaladin thought, looking at Amaram's hand. Kaladin reached for his side knife, but Dalinar was already raising his own hand. White mist coalesced in Dalinar's fingers, and a Shardblade appeared, tip to Amaram's throat. Wider than most, it was almost cleaverlike in appearance. A Blade formed in Amaram's hand a second later - a second too late. His eyes went wide as he stared at the silvery Blade held to his throat. Dalinar had a Shardblade. "I thought," Dalinar said "that if you had been willing to murder for one Blade, you would certainly be willing to lie for a second. And so, after I knew you'd sneaked in to see the madman on your own, I asked you to investigate his claims for me. I gave your conscience plenty of time to come clean, out of respect for our friendship. When you told me you'd found nothing - but in fact you had actually recovered the Shardblade - I knew the truth." "How?" Amaram hissed, looking at the Blade Dalinar held "How did you get it back? I removed it from the cave. My men had it safe!" So as I said, Amaram was going to draw a shardblade on an unarmed man. -

Sanderson "Would you Rather"
Pathfinder replied to KnightRadiant's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Soucasting. Just so many awesome possibilities. Would you rather live during the Mistborn Original trilogy, the AoL series, the upcoming "modern day" trilogy, or the future trilogy?- 954 replies

Do you have the WoB? That would help a lot. Like I said, unfortunately my luck with the interview database sucks

Yes, but you misunderstand what I meant. My understanding is it is a rosetta stone for that native investiture. So it works for Sel because there are so many manifestations of the dor. If there was one for Nalthis, it would be a rosseta stone for different manifestations of Nalthis. I think the WoB said it wasn't so you could basically use it to access/use any investiture other than your own. But I am going on memory so I could be wrong. Did I at least explain my impression well? Sorry to be confusing. edit: another example. if there was an analogue on Scadrial, it would let you use allomancy, and feruchemy interchangeably, but not stormlight. Now you see what I mean?

Who is the bigger cremling?
Pathfinder replied to Assassin in Burgundy's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes, Amaram is so sorry for what he did to Kaladin that he would not admit it when confronted, and would have killed Dalinar to cover it up, had Dalinar not been quicker on the draw. You can say you are sorry for doing something all you want, but if you continue to do the thing, and do all you can to cover it up, kind of negates the sorry. How can we be sure he is even genuinely sorrowful, or is that an act as well? -
It sucks that I suck at looking up WoB, but I could have sworn there was one that explicitly says Frost does not hold a shard, which is why everyone is trying to theorize whether it is him being a dragon, or some other reason for his immortality.

I thought the moon scepter was like a "Rosetta stone" for Selish investiture? So between Aons, Dakhor, Chaysan, Blood Sealing, and Forgery.

Theorycrafting: Nalan will come chasing after Adolin in Oathbringer
Pathfinder replied to Havoc's topic in Stormlight Archive
Personally I am of the opinion that Adolin was a protoradiant since he exhibited the sickness that proto radiants seem to undergo during combat to throw off the effects of the Thrill. During the final battle before the Everstorm struck he got sick. -
